Definitely overpriced and food was ok, some high notes, but many meh unfortunately and certainly not for the price. I went there with a group of 8 for work. We ordered lots of different dishes to start. The appetizers were probably the better of the dishes we ordered. The fritto misto, antipasti, eggplant rotini were all pretty good. Fritto misto had nice, fresh seafood which was better than average. I had milanese which was good, but nothing particularly inspiring. A side of gnocchi which was kinda bland unfortunately, even with a good amount of grated parm on top. The "specialty" tiramisu wasn't really worth finishing. Most of us all left about half on the plate. It was dry and didn't really have much flavor which is disappointing when they described it as a house specialty with espresso brewed every day to make it fresh. This establishment serves the best Italian food we've ever had. The ambiance was lively and the table we reserved was ready for us as soon as we arrived, which was ten minutes early. However, I'm not sure if the house was understaffed, but it was apparent that the waiters/waitresses were feeling rushed, and that transferred over to us. The first thing we were told as soon as we sat down was that the kitchen would be closing in 30 minutes, which was definitely not something we wanted to hear considering we had given the staff advanced notice that this would be our anniversary dinner. Strangely enough, it felt like the busboys were providing better service than our waitress by making us feel welcomed and at ease long after the kitchen had closed, clearing the table and topping off our water frequently, and they were the ones to offer us the option of dessert near the end of the night, which our waitress then brought over along with the check. This Italian restaurant has it all! Great food, excellent service, good variety of menu options and delicious dessert! I had the meat lasagna and it was soooo good....not oily, not too meaty, a lot of melted cheese and the perfect amount of flavor. Probably the best lasagna Ive ever had. My friends ordered a variety of pasta dishes and everyone loved their meal. We had Tiramisu for dessert; it was so fresh, not too sweet, and the perfect texture. Celebrating our 43rd Anniversary was a true delight at Tre Lune. The service was exceptional. The Caesar salad and steamed clams were strong starting choices. The service was abysmal. Requested two weeks ahead in a reservation for seating at one of the two window tables. Our guests arrived first and were told the table set for four at the window was not available due to possible party of six. We arrived five minutes later and were rejected for same reason but the party of six was sitting outside with a person in a wheelchair which made it more comfortable than trying to squeeze them into the table that was a four top in the window and they had chosen outside well before we arrived. It was a special day for us with double birthday celebration but were told by the hostess that she checked with the manager on Duty July 27 that the table was not available to our party of four. The hour and a half that we had our lunch...they sat No One at that table. And what was insult to injury, just as we left they sat a couple, just two people at this mythic table we were told for six people. When I asked how that was possible, the hostess said the couple was waiting for one more person. So our group of four was denied that table and then they put only 3 people at the table. It was beyond belief. I told the manager, "Apparently, some people are just more 'special' than others ." No apologies, and with attitude he replied, "That's not how we work." "Apparently, it is!" I retorted. It was outright dismissal of a guest's request, the staff left the table empty for an hour and a half that we were there and then gave it away not to six people but to a party of three that had no reservations as we were leaving. They made us feel that we were the bad guy for questioning their discriminatory practice and this is to a patron who has traded there for twenty years and over tipped the staff during the disasters so the staff having shorter hours could still make ends meet. So when I say I felt our party was not celebrity enough for them, I meant it. If indeed, they had a reserved party for six, the table would have already been set for six and it wasn't and the party of six that showed up chose to sit outside before we arrived, not afterward. And the unkindness of not even a apology just cemented my suspicions of favoritism at Tre Lune. For myself, I could deal with it but it was a bit humiliating that they insulted my out-of-town guests in the same manner when they arrived. Really poor management and attitude toward the patrons. It ruined what was supposed to be a double happy birthday celebration. We will survive the obvious insult but will never recommend the restaurant to friends or family as there are too many other great Italian restaurants in Santa Barbara like Ca'Dario, Pane e Vino, and Olio e Limone. I recommend trading there instead where its service with a smile and not a smirk. read more

Was in Santa Barbra today for my best friends birthday and we were all STARVING. We came across this hidden gem and WOW. This place is phenomenal. Service was okay. Nobody refilled our waters for 20 minutes so that was the only issue and we weren't being checked on by our waiter very often so we would have to kind of ask other people passing by for things we needed but other then that, this is the best pasta I've ever had and that is saying a lot because I am a pasta enthusiast. Vodka sauce was so creamy and fluffy and the pasta was cooked to perfection. So fucking good. The fettuccine was the perfect butter to cream ratio. Amazing. I drove up from Los Angeles to Montecito just eat here with me and my boyfriend. It's our go to date night spot. Ambience is adorable and they have Frank Sinatra playing. Food is incredible. Their cacio e pepe is the best I've ever had. Their gnocchi with truffle cream sauce is very good. Good crowd too. Only thing that's disappointing was their dessert, I've yet to have a good dessert. Their dishes are very well made and flavorfull however Every time i visit it has been on a gradual slow decline food & service wise . Maybe they need to go back to drawing board and work on their service . Last i visited on a rainy day our reserved table wasnt ready and there was no sincere explanation to why or when we can be seated. Its a snall space indoors with a lot of tables next to each other and i assume they are happy to be booked fast every evening, well they can be one happy family over n over and not mind losing business. Ordered spinach salad, the dressing was tart & sweet, tried the assorted fried seafood, it was seasoned and fried but lacking crunchiness and flavor, linguine and seafood in pomodoro sauce was tangy, pasta was cooked perfectly, also had the gnocchi (pillowy soft) and two desserts, the bread pudding with ice cream and the crème brûlée was creamy perfection. I was in town for a wedding on my own and had been recommended Tre Lune by an LA friend. The little Italian restaurant is charming and spreads classic Italian. You feel as though Frank Sinatra must have eaten here at some point in their history. I sat at the bar which was very tiny and not much of the bar scene that I was hoping it to have. Although, the food was spectacular. They had all my favorites on the menu and the bartender and staff were so very friendly. The food came out quick and all in all- I was out in 30-45 minutes. Would eat here again if I am in town but will definitely call ahead to make reservations to enjoy the restaurant ambiance more. Great for date nights or family gatherings but probably not the best for solo travelers looking to mingle. read more

Heads-up - Long review. I'm a food and wine fan and an Italian lover with great experiences. Of course, taste and experience expectations are funny things, but one thing's for sure, the premier restaurants are fairly universally loved. Sometimes the problem is in the kitchen and sometimes it's on the floor. Tre Luna was a bit of both but by far the worst wine spectator Italian I have ever had, FWIW. They said they just hadn't updated their wine list. Two huge no-nos for a Wine Spectator restaurant, especially two vintages off. I sure hope they weren't saving the good vintages for customers they valued more. They offered me to pick another.
