I've been taking Erica Nix's workout classes for a couple of years now and is it too much to say it's changed my life?

So my roleplay group rented this space last night for 8-10pm so we could do a fun class + demo, and…read moreit was phenomenal! I was really impressed by the facilities and layout of the place-- much larger on the inside than it looked on the outside. There was the large dance area with mirrored wall, plenty of folding chairs we could use, a large lobby with places to sit and wait for the previous class to finish up, even a quiet booth on the far side, and a little nook with a fridge and microwave. The fun-colored neon lighting was a nice visual touch, coupled with the ability to play music on the sound system really set the mood! The owner was very helpful about making us feel welcome, getting us set up, and letting us know where everything was and how to use the facilities. The only two things that could have been better were the cramped parking lot with limited spaces, and the single occupant bathroom. It was a really nice bathroom, but there was only the one so it caused a wait to use it. Would definitely rent this space again!!

I'm not offered to take the class. The girl at the desk says check your email. I check my email, and it says you have to link your account. So why does the website have you select a class, lead you to believe you're paying for it, and show you enrolled? Maddening. I was always so interested in taking a class but always thought the website was absurd. I now have to make sure money isn't taken out of my account, and I don't show as a no- show for a class I wasn't welcomed to join. I was so looking forward to a great dance experience. What a disappointment.

We recently started at Dance Discovery with high hopes, but unfortunately, our experience so far…read morehas been quite disappointing. My daughter (age 3) has attended four different classes with different instructors as we tried to find the right fit for her. As a shy new student, I expected at least a minimal effort from the teachers to help her feel welcomed and included--but that has largely been missing. In most of the classes, there was little to no effort to engage her, encourage her participation, or help her feel part of the group. Even in the few classes that had student assistants present, they did not step in to support her or offer any guidance. In one instance, my daughter needed tap shoes (which are available in a shared bin for those without), and rather than assisting us, the student assistant pointed me toward the bin to figure it out myself--something that could have easily been handled more supportively, especially for a brand-new child. Another serious concern is bathroom access. My daughter is still potty training, and after a 45-minute drive to get to class, we often urgently need to use the restroom upon arrival. To access the bathrooms, however, you must walk through two active classrooms, which feels disruptive and uncomfortable. On one occasion, it took us over 10 minutes just to get into a stall, which meant missing a significant portion of class while awkwardly waiting in a hallway right next to an ongoing session. Overall, I'm very surprised by the lack of accommodations or support for young children and new families. It's disappointing because I had high hopes for this studio, but at this point, I'm not confident that it's the right environment for us and we have already put in our 30 days.

Totally blown away by YEA! I am an absolute beginner, I'm in my 50s, and am not naturally flexible…read moreat all. I've heard great things about Bikram Yoga, and I know I love heat (love saunas), though I've never exercised in that kind of heat before. I signed up for the new student special, and after taking six classes, I've already signed up for the unlimited package going forward. I truly cannot say enough amazing things about this studio and the people who bring it to life! In order of appearance, these are the instructors I've had the great privilege of learning from so far: Tessa, Devan, Michael, Alexandra, and Jamie. And I can honestly say they are each and every one PHENOMENAL: incredibly knowledgeable, encouraging, helpful, attentive, talented, and passionate about this practice and sharing it with their students. I've picked up new pearls of wisdom from each of them, at each class. I am sure that all the teachers at the studio are fabulous, even those I haven't met yet, because that is clearly how they roll at YEA: excellence in all they do. (Thank you, thank you!) Although so far the only move I can do as it's intended is corpse pose (ha, but really), but just trying the poses is already making me feel different, body and mind (in a good way!). I appreciated that the website explained that we don't need to be "in shape" or flexible to start this practice-- that's what inspired me to try, knowing that the trying is the thing. I am confident that if I keep showing up with an earnest heart and mind, I will become more flexible, and I will improve my balance and my overall fitness level as well. Even after just one week, I'm making healthier eating choices in what feels like a natural way... I don't feel like I have to summon a will of steel to turn down junk food like I typically would. After sweating and stretching for 90 mins, my body wants clean food and lots of water, so I'm able to curb my sugar habit without feeling deprived. My body feels better, my mood is improved (I feel more peaceful and less anxious/ruminative), and I'm even sleeping better. The whole thing is actually kind of mind-blowing to me! In addition to the wonderful humans who work here (and Tillie, the super sweet doggie ambassador who is often there to greet me when I walk in), the studio itself is fantastic: clean and comfortable and welcoming, with lots of natural light. And as if all that's not enough: there is absolutely *stunning* artwork on display. Alexandra is the resident artist, and I'm in awe of her talent. (If my hubs is reading this: hint for my 55th birthday, please: Alexandra's art is for sale. Hint, hint.) If you're a newbie like me (or even if you're an accomplished yogi), you can't find a better yoga home than YEA. You'll be challenged and supported in the very best ways. YAY for YEA!! :-D
