This is a long overdue review of Align. I've been a member here for over a year. I started with the…read moreboxing/barre membership that doesn't include pilates, but I had such a great experience my first year that I upped my membership to the full studio with pilates classes. This is saying a lot because Align isn't super convenient for me to get to during rush hour, and I'm willing to drive in Austin traffic to get here. What is unique about Align is both the friendly community and the variety of classes. Everyone who works at Align makes a point to get to know your name and even your fitness goals. Not only are the staff friendly, but the studio has an overall warm and welcoming vibe. In terms of specific classes, all the classes are awesome and the instructors are passionate about their work. The different classes complement each other well--boxing for cardio, barre and bodhi for strength, and mat pilates and reformer pilates for flexibility and strength. I've been doing barre in Austin for a long time, and what differentiates Align is the small class size (6 people max in pilates and barre!). My form is corrected multiple times in every class based on specific goals I'm working toward. This consistent level of attention to form just does not happen in bigger classes. I had plateaued in reaching specific fitness goals until I joined here. I've noticed changes in my posture and strength in my back that I would not have achieved anywhere else (special shout out to Melissa G. since her barre class is a huge source of this change--take her class!). My past experience with pilates was that the classes weren't challenging enough, but that is not the case at Align--all of the classes (mat, body, and equipment) are challenging and different each week. Align's variety of classes has gotten me outside my usual barre routine. I never thought I would take boxing classes, but Kyle's class is always upbeat with great music and you can't do better for a cardio and core/arm strength workout. Align also has meditation classes. I never would have started meditating had these classes not been part of my membership, but they are a highlight of my week. Bonus points that the studio is charming--it is in a cute old house and has plenty of natural light.

Peach House is a boutique Pilates studio that offers mat & reformer Pilates, plus additional services like cold plunge and sauna onsite! The not so good- memberships go up to $499 a month which is expensive! Upon arrival to the event I felt very unwelcome. I did however get to experience the sauna for about 15 minutes and enjoyed it! The sauna was overcrowded with people and no one was monitoring it. The event was not well planned out overall and promised "HalfDays swag" to RSVPs and didn't deliver. It would have been nice for someone to give an official tour of Peach House but there was a reformer class going on at the same time as the event which was super confusing.

The exercises are performed to music and the class concentrates on strength, toning and flexibility which are exactly the things I needed. The studio itself is very clean and modern with plenty of parking, a definite plus since it's in downtown Austin. The two instructors I've had, Jennifer and Laine, are both very good instructors and very knowledgeable. Their classes are hard but I like how they both offer easier modifications to me since I was a beginner. But every class I feel stronger and things I couldn't do before I am now able to do. The results are truly amazing! I saw a pic of myself taken yesterday and it stunned me - the new definition in my shoulders, legs, neck. I couldn't find any pics that showed my "before" legs but I found a pic of my shoulders and neck from about two months ago and you can see the transformation. I am excited to continue this workout and to keep improving!

The coaches are knowledgeable, supportive, and genuinely motivating. Every class challenges me in a different way, and I appreciate how much attention they give to proper form and technique. One of my FAVORITE things about this location is the schedule. I LOVE that they offer classes as early as 5:15 AM and as late as 10:15 PM! It's refreshing to have that flexibility, especially since I prefer maintaining the early-morning and late-evening workout routine I was used to on the East Coast. The studio has a great atmosphere, and the workouts keep me coming back. It's become one of my favorite parts of living in downtown ATX!

I appreciated a couple of the modifications they offered since my lower back wasn't feeling 100%. The one thing I didn't like about this particular location is how many machines they jammed into the studio. I felt like the machines next to me were extremely close and you could barely walk in between each of them. I would have liked more room. If I were traveling again and [solidcore] was the only option for the type of Pilates I normally do back in Florida, then I would go again. However, if I had other options I would probably give them a try over [solidcore] in the future.

She took it easy on me (for now) and tailored the workout just to what I needed that day - easy on the legs, hard on the abs. It's great to have an instructor who's flexible, not sticking to the same routine and will create the workout around what you need that day. The facility is in a good location, easy to get to, easy to park at and all of her equipment is in great shape (hah).
