Sat inside for the $19.95 Lobster Dinner - 1-1.25 lb lobster, 1 lb of steamers (fresh and tender, but "muddier" than the littlenecks I'm used to) ear of corn, melted butter, cup of warm water (to rinse the clams ... which helped some. Lobster was terrific! Sweet and lots of meat in both claws and tail. Wife had fried shrimp that were closer to "popcorn" but tasted okay, with great fries. Waited for food over 70' for chowder and cheeseburgers! Chowder was good but burgers weren't hot.

There are plenty of road side seafood spots. Look for something else. It's sad, because from the outside it looked promising. However, after well over two hours of a wait to learn that out order hast been started, is simply not worth it. Unfortunately we didn't get a chance to try the food. They need a good manager. Too many staff members just sat around. I hope Tracy's gets their act together. Until then, look elsewhere. read more

Such a shame that Tracey's chooses to take their perfectly fried seafood, fries, and onion rings and put them in plastic containers that act like a steam room thus sogging them up good! Fresh and delicious. A quick stop on the way to some backpacking in Cutler for lunch. Highly recommend the lobster roll (get two!). If you're gluten free, they'll put it in a lettuce wrap. My wife said the fish and chips were also solid and plenty! read more

I really wanted to like this place. It looked so cute from the road. However it was a big disappointment. Food was just OK for the price. I ordered three lobster rolls which were supposed to come with chips. The three rolls were stuffed into one plastic container and there were literally five potato chips total for three people. If you don't want to read, just know you should RUN and not even dare to try this place. I don't know where to start here but everything that could go wrong in a restaurant went wrong here: 1. Food: Gross, undercooked and over cooked clams, scallops, haddock, shrimp and onion rings. The whole belly clams were huge, biggest I've ever had. The breading was falling off of most and tasted very fishy and were super chewy. Being a whole belly clam lover, these truly disappointed. The lobster rolls were super cheap 2 for $15. But I'd rather pay $25 for a fresh one. The lobster was so old, that it was dried, the mayo had already been absorbed by the meat and the buns were toasted but not buttered. 2. Service: Worst service I've ever had. After having wait for 50 minutes for our food I went to the window to inquire about it. The teenage boy simply said, well they're swamped. They are really busy! He didn't offer to check on it or anything. I chucked his attitude to the fact he's a teenager and doesn't care much. But after 1 hour and 15 mins I went looking for the only adult in the place, who after a few seconds, shut me up and said: Yeah, yeah I heard the story from your friend. You don't need to repeat your story again. We're busy here, I'll just check for your food. I don't see a reason to wait over an hour for less than mediocre food. This place doesn't deserve any stars, seafood is very simple, keep it fresh or it'll be terrible. read more

Kiss - Keep it simple, stupid. They got this right. Simple foods done well. I go the clam strips and lobster rolls. While it put a dent in my wallet, so will every place else. The ice cream is good. First and foremost you have to remember that this is a working lobster pound. When we went in to be seated in the small attached restaurant to the lobster pound/ "take out" portion of the business- it smelled like a working fish market- so- that being said, if you don't like the smelly smell of a fish market DO NOT sit inside; instead, use the takeout. That being said, we ordered a seafood dish for two (see picture). The portions were generous. It was tasty, and the seafood was very fresh. I wished it had been a little less greasy, but it was a fried dish- so I had to expect it. Another indicator that this restaurant/take out/fish market is a good place to eat was that the place was packed with a very brisk take out trade. Food portions were good, however food was a little soggy. A little pricey for the quality of food. For a family of 7, mostly children the bill was about $200. Overall not bad, but the most disturbing was watching the cook and help prepare food, no gloves, beard or hair nets. Cook outside smoking in between orders. Little children in the kitchen handling orders. We will not return. read more

I've been here twice for two different dining reasons and the outcome has been consistent. First visit was for dinner, dine out. The most striking thing is the time it takes to get an order out. I ordered two fried dinners (not hard) and it took nearly an hour to produce the dinners. Not just me but everyone. The number of times I saw patrons go to the window to check and see when their order would be done was very noticeable. The dinners when finished were well overcooked and not that good. Didn't finish either. We went the next night (convenience) for ice cream...pretty easy you would think. Apparently not. The person taking the order forgot she had taken it almost immediately. After seeing other families that arrived after us get served, I went to check. The very person that took my order wanted to see my reciept to confirm I had ordered in the first place then as the attitude started to ramp up cooler heads prevailed and another employee intervened. Nearly 30min to get an ice cream cone. I'm pretty calm headed but this one tested me. We won't be back. read more

We stopped in to buy some live lobsters for dinner... They were way below the "market price" of $8.00. They were asking $5.10 per pound. The guy who helped us was young and enthused. We found two very healthy 2 pounders to take with us, plus two lobster bibs to keep our clothes clean... No complaints. They cook them for $2 per pound, which is a deal as far as I am concerned. I would have paid the $8 to avoid cleaning up. We were interested in lobster for dinner and it was about 2PM when we stopped in... I would recommend them for a good lobster to take home... I would also say that if you are traveling and want to eat a fresh lobster and don't care about atmosphere, this is your place. I also noticed their lobster rolls, which were piled high with lobster. Great meal for travelers... Again, this is not a place full of atmosphere, so don't confuse the great price with a fine dinning recommendation. Would I go back? Yes I would. Best lobster roll for under $10! My friend and I got the 2 for $10 deal, one regular and one naked. (they're usually one for $6 - still an amazing deal) We were impressed with how much meat were in them. The buns were perfectly toasted and the meat was not overly dressed or salty. We couldn't believe how cheap but tasty they were. They were also regular size, so not skimping there. I finished my meal with a scoop of blueberry ice cream. It tasted like yummy berry ice cream with frozen blueberry preserve swirls. Can't wait to go back next time I'm in the area! PS. Ignore Google Maps when trying to find this place. The fried fish was flaky and tasty. They offer dining in but I wouldn't recommend it. The service was very very very slow. The table was sticky. We waited a long time for the check. A ridiculous long time. After I found someone they did explain that they were two people short staffed. They also sell ice cream on the side through a window. They got the kids order wrong. So even being short staffed the whole experience was mediocre. The quality of the food saved it. And we could not find a bathroom. read more

Pretty disappointed with this one. It was right near my Airbnb and instead of driving 40 min away, we decided to give this place a shot. All the reviews were either hit or miss, but it's Maine, so how bad could seafood be. That was my first mistake. My second mistake was the clam chowder. It was inedible. I gave this place 5 stars because the fried clams and onion rings were very good. Clams were crispy and not chewy at all. The onion rings were thin and crispy as well. Ok, so the onion rings were more like straws, very thin but amazing! Haddock was perfectly fried and flaky and fresh. But there were so many negatives I cannot get past. Clam chowder was the worst I have ever had, tasted like warm half and half, sugar with whole clams and two morsels of potatoes. We threw it away, untouched after one bite. Tartar and cocktail sauces were prepackaged Kraft brand. For those prices I expect homemade. Fried clam were also not good, not strips but whole and tasted very unsavory. Scallops over cooked. Burger for my son was scorched and cold when it came out. Want a true and simple Maine lobster roll at a good price? Go up Rt 1 and Hit Tracey's. The seasonal seafood roadside stand is typical Maine coast. They catch and process their own lobster so the rolls are fresh. They use the New England style hotdog bun so that the sides can be buttered and grilled. They typically run 2 for $ specials on these simple lobster rolls and this year (2014) its 2 for $10. Lobster stew also got rave reviews from my family. Top it off with a scoop of Gifford's or a soft serve in a cone with chocolate sprinkles (my favorite). If the day is too hot or if you want to crack your own lobster, there is a sit down waitressed area inside with A/C. There is a road just before (if from Ellsworth) that leads to extra parking in the back if it is full in the front. Really nice wait staff. My Nana's favorite lunch spot! read more
