Was here for a wedding reception and it all worked out well. We had a great area for our party and the staff was very welcoming and attentive. I had the Lobster Mac and Cheese and it was very good. I loved their Bloody Mary. So so good and spicy! My husband had the steak and he loved it. Only down side was that the steaks come out so late that the rest of the party that didn't have steak was almost done with here food or ended up eating cold food because they waited for the steaks. Overall the location was beautiful and well maintained. Would stop by again when in the area.

Bar Harbor Lobster Bakes was our very first stop after a long day's drive from the White Mountains, and honestly, it set the tone for our whole Maine adventure. Even the wind tried to crash our dinner, but the food more than made up for it. We started with the lobster bisque, which my husband took very seriously -- he ordered bisque everywhere we went in Maine and appointed himself an unofficial judge. Verdict here? Top contender. The lobster tail was fresh, buttery perfection, and that sweet corn on the cob might've been the best I've ever had (sorry, Midwest). Our server was an absolute gem -- friendly, funny, and full of great tips. She even told us to check out the beach across the street, where I found my very first piece of sea glass. Bottom line: great food, lovely people, and a seaside charm that makes you forget the wind's trying to steal your napkin.

We were craving lobster!! And we saw a sign on the side of the road for twin lobsters for $35. So we had to get it!!! I got the twin lobsters. And my boyfriend got the Downeast Lobster Bake, which is a full lobster with clam chowder and mussels and blueberry cake. My twin lobsters were INCREDIBLE. I ate ALL OF IT! They made the lobster to perfection. Juicy and tender and soft! I do like my lobster with lots of lemon. And I had to ask for extra lemons twice bc they only gave me a couple slices at a time. So I was a little disappointed about that. The clam chowder was okay. Good but there wasn't much clams in there so I probably wouldn't get it again. The mussels were okay, they were not flavorful. The blueberry cake was delicious. If we go again, I think my boyfriend and I will stick to simplicity and both order twin lobsters!

Early bird special so good we did back to back days!

With so many lobster serving restaurants in this general area to choose from we found this 1 w high reviews & took a chance on and did not disappoint. We started w a Pinot Noir wine very good taste, a delicious healthy baked haddock filet w corn, slaw & tartar sauce then the main event a 1.5# Maine lobster dinner with side of Mac n cheese plus butter our server Jordan H she kindly assisted us taking the meat from tail, claws & knuckle out. We sat @ an outside table watching the waterfront. Ambiance felt private. Plenty of free parking available. I rate 4.5 stars. The temperature here in northern Bar harbor Maine was a constant 45 degrees at night also from this point Nova Scotia, Canada (Titanic departure port) hi speed ferry service was available thru Sept. 22nd. The people here are truly kind, hospitable as well.

It was just OK. We arrived and there were cars in the parking lot, so we figured it would be good. It was also recommended by our campground check-in person. There were a lot of people because there was a wedding rehearsal going on. There weren't any other customers. The service was good. We were seated promptly and the waitress was friendly and prompt. The food was mixed. The chowder was pretty good. We shared a whole lobster meal. The lobster was overcooked and rubbery/tough. We were very disappointed as this was our first meal in Maine and it was rather expensive. I have had much better lobster on cruise ships and at home getting tails from Publix. We will try another place because they certainly can't all be this bad.

Lobster roll was good, but nothing life changing. I wouldn't go out of my way for this lobster. Mussels were mussels, good, but very plain. Now what I WOULD go out of my way for was that incredible Blueberry Pie and Blueberry Ice Cream. Best way to end the day. Walked right in at 7:30 on a Monday in Mid-October. Big place, but the ambience wasn't anything too special. A fun vibe and nice view!

Before we made our trip out to Maine I had save a few places to try one of them was Maine Lobster Bakes. I didn't realize it was even on my list until I looked it up to leave a review. We just stopped because we were so hungry after our drive up. Totally worth it. Friendly, Fast and Food was perfect.

When in Maine you have to eat lobster. This had some good reviews and there are a ton of other lobster restaurants in Maine. I can't say how this is comparable to the others but it was delicious. You can definitely tell the difference in the taste. The clam chowder was the best I've tasted (Midwest). We ate outside and the picnic tables made the place and it was definitely a lobster place. The server was excellent, he kept on checking with us. One nice thing about this place is the instructions for eating lobster. I had the lobster bake and clam chowder which the lobster was sweet and the clam chowder had fresh clams. Places I've been to, the clam a tasted fishy. My wife had the lobster Mac and cheese and she loved it as she isn't really a lobster person. My meal came with a blueberry cake. It was a la mode. It was sweet and made perfectly. I guess blueberry's are the popular fruit in Maine. If you are in Bar Harbor ME and want lobster this is a good place to eat.

Very good Maine lobster. I've tried their dinner combo that comes with muscles, clam chowder, corn, and a dessert. Next time I come, I'd recommend getting the twin lobsters. Maine lobsters are just amazing and sweet. This is a great pit stop if you want to get lobster before head to bar harbor center. Service was great. Spacious with parking Nice view of the waterfront. I would come back here when I visit Maine again.

Delicious blueberry pie and whipped cream to go!

The employees were fun and they made the experience nicer. The next day it was time for lunch and my husband said lets go back to the Traveling Lobster, I said (and later regretted) no let's try somewhere else. We tried a place with a catchy lobster name and the teenage boy, behind the counter of the takeout as he handed us our change said, you're leaving me a tip - right? In unison we both said no. I added we don't tip workers at McDonalds, we're not tipping you and even if we did, we wouldn't tip you because of your demand, he walked away nonplussed, to add insult to injury the food was mediocre for the price. Later that afternoon we tried another lobster stand, and it was worse; the food was terrible for the price, we ordered a side of lobster mac and cheese and there was not a shred of lobster in it, we ended up taking it back and getting our money. Starving, we went back to the Traveling Lobster and had another great meal, listened to trivia and left satisfied. What we learned is if a stand isn't busy or has few cars, don't bother, there's a reason. By all means go the Travelin Lobster, the parking lot is busy, the line moves fast and the food comes out fast and excellent, the employees don't attempt to shame you into tipping them and when you order lobster mac and cheese, you get plenty of lobster. I also learned that my sweet husband is sometimes right :).

BACK FOR A SECOND YEAR…read more.. I see why this place is ###1 In Maine...... Great outdoor atmosphere, kid friendly, sit and relax under and massive shade canopy, away form the road, includes outdoor service.. (not just another roadside "lobsta" shop with a folding table on the edge of a parking lot) . OK- good vibe on property and location, I don' at all mind a walk-up window to order....saves money, time and you know exactly how many orders are in front of you. All good, but how is the food ? Family of 4 - We ordered a bit of everything for sharing....Lobster dinner to start...super fresh, large 2 + pounder bathed in hot butter.....add a side of lobster nachos....OMG, good call. Not a fan of corn on the cob, but the kids loved it. I am happy. Next .I ordered a straight up lobster roll - hot, butter only, No skimp on the lobster (see picture) with a added side of coleslaw which was a pleasant surprise....made fresh daily with owners secret recipe (he would not share BTW). ), I added garlic aioli sauce to everything because this place understands all food is enhanced with either hot butter or home-made aioli sauce....(never mayo) My kids binge ate french fri's which have a light coating, crispy and hot while they each ate lobster tacos...What the heck ? A Taco in Maine ? Delicious....all the way. Again no skimping on the lobster meat. Then came the real test.....a virtual dark horse (no they do not serve "horse") .The Ice Cream Boat (which also has a stern full of fresh blueberry pie). All locally made, fresh and large portions. I left 5 pounds heavier, asked my wife to drive so I could nap in the back of the rental car. Thanks to owners for a great food experience that represents Maine !

I questioned why the steamers did not come with hot water to dip the clams to get shake out sand and grit. The cook said she "will get some but these steamers are clean." She was right. Only melted hot butter was needed (no need to water down your clams and loose flavor). Once I finished 2 dozen, I asked about the butter still being so clear and not coagulating. "We only use Cabot salted butter slowly melted." It made a world of difference in taste. Had so much butter left that I ordered another dozen!! My wife ordered the halibut burger. Another hit!! Galyns was recommended to us by the local receptionist do the hotel where we were staying in Bar Harbor. We arrived for an early dinner at 5 pm and from the initial greeting we felt like we were in someone's home. Their menu is seafood heavy and inventive. We settled on a whole lobster as an appetizer ($36 market price) which was buttery, succulent and super fresh. The rice pilaf and broccolini that it came with were the perfect accompaniments. For the main course, my partner ordered a grilled salmon and I ordered the haddock with a lemon caper sauce. A week later and I"m still savoring the haddock. Flaky and slightly meaty, the sauce was just zesty and frothy to invite you back for another bite. The capers was an added touch and really brought the dish together. As far as the grilled salmon, you can't get fish fresher than what we had. The hostess was kind enough to steer me through a refresher course on how to crack and eat lobster (with a big on of course!).
