We were hungry. This roadside spot came up. I actually regret that I gave in to settle for less. Not expect any plating lol.

Unassuming little "dockside" restaurant. You order outside at the window but can eat inside or outside. We arrived so early for dinner - 4:40! - but they were so pleasant about getting things going to make dinner for us. We had the lobster roll, haddock sandwich, shrimp dinner, and burger, and it was all fantastic and out so quickly. To top it off, we had asked about the delicious-looking onion rings we saw on other yelp reviews. And even though they hadn't been serving them for years, they surprised us by whipping up an "experimental" batch - they were amazing! They totally go above and beyond to make it a great dining experience. Love this place and will be back.

We are a late lunch at The Docksider after a hike nearby. Everything was fabulous- the waiter- Madeleine was accommodating and knew the menu well. She made me a fantastic blueberry-lemon margarita. We started out with the onion rings - a must! Light crispy and similar to onion straws. We had the lobster dinner, lobster roll and a burger. Everything was cooked to perfection! The food was fresh and tasty. If you're in NE Harbor stop here to eat!!!

Served my wife rotten lobster, said it was just "over cooked". Shouldn't be that hard to tell a lobster is rotten, stay away

Thurston's Lobster Pound was hands down our favorite stop on our Acadia trip…read more Located on the quieter side of the park, it offers amazing food and a far better ambience than the busier tourist spots. We sat right on the dock and ordered live lobster, which is cooked fresh on site. Be prepared to wait a bit, but it is absolutely worth it. The lobster was the best we had the entire trip, enjoyed with ocean views and a beautiful sunset. One tip: get the blueberry pie if they aren't sold out. We ordered a few to share and immediately regretted not getting our own because it was that good. By the time we realized, they were already sold out for the night.

This is a great working harbor and you're surrounded by the boats that are catching your food. This place packs up during the evenings so plan accordingly or be prepared to wait. Parking stinks and sometimes there's just no where to put your car. There's no reservations - you just hop in the line upon arrival. Feel free to meet your line neighbors -- some great conversations have happened in that line. All that said I don't think I've ever waited more than 20 minutes. If you're ordering lobster your meal is typically by the weight. I personally like them small - I think it tastes sweeter. You can add on the usuals (e.g. bread, corn, cole slaw, cake) or mussels, clams, oysters, etc. The key here is the blueberry cake - the greatest use of blueberry's next to blueberry pie =). We typically order 2 cakes, or more, for breakfast the next day. Most of the seats, on the various levels of the restaurant, have a good view of the harbor. This is a traditional lobster pound on a dock of the harbor. Maybe it's the bright yellow awning, or the blueberry cake, - I dunno - but this is the way!

Absolutely incredibly views eating, quick service after you order at the counter. The lobster meat itself felt like it was caught 30 minutes prior the menu is a bit bigger than other spots they offer a lot of different sauces but I just went with the regular butter. The line was long, but it moved quickly and the service was fast and friendly. Since I had eaten a later lunch, I wasn't necessarily starving, but I did still want to enjoy some fresh lobster. I settled on the lobster bites which were deep-fried pieces of lobster, and a slice of blueberry cheesecake - because, when in Maine!! Talk about a decadent girl-dinner. The fried lobster bites were absolutely delicious and the accompanying dipping sauce was creamy and paired perfectly. The blueberry cheesecake had the perfect amount of blueberry while still maintaining the integrity of the cheesecake. Definitely one of my favorite dinners I had while visiting the area and would absolutely come back and visit Beal's lobster pier again. Bonus points for getting to enjoy a beautiful sunset on the pier while I had my meal.

Islesford Dock Restaurant - The restaurant is at the far end of the pier, artists shops and studios also occupy the pier.

First, you need to secure a water taxi since Cranberry Island can only be accessed via boat. I suggest you make friends because the taxi is one price for up to 6 passengers. Once we arrived (short 10 minute trip) I fell in love with the vibe of the restaurant and the island. We started with delicious oysters and perfectly made cocktails. I opted for the appetizer shrimp scampi with a side of seasoned fries, which were even better dipped in the garlic butter! My husband had the scallops and while I don't typically like the texture of scallops, his were buttery and delicious. I'm so glad we were able to visit this iconic place during our trip to Maine! We will definitely be back next time we return to hike Acadia.

The overall view of MDI is breathtaking when the clouds and sun are "just right". Arrived about a half hour or so before Islesford's scheduled 3 p.m. opening and enjoyed walking around a few places on the island as well as our always enjoyable stop at Islesford Pottery, as well as the adjacent art gallery. We sat at the bar. The cool breeze through the windows, coming off the water, was magnificent. The mussels were delicious (we ordered fries to go with these) and the beet salad as well as the spicy tuna salad were terrific. The Margo-rita was reportedly awesome and I tried the Dark 'n Stormy which was quite tasty. The service was fantastic. Could not have been better. Despite being on an island, accessible only by boat or air, if staffing shortages are an issue, no such issues were noted. The entire dining experience was pleasant, enjoyable, and the service was terrific!
