Fresh lobster, tasty cocktails, and unbeatable views Abel's Lobster was such a lovely stop during our time in Bar Harbor. I'd never had a warm lobster roll before, but since they offered the option, I gave it a try--and it was very tasty! That said, I still prefer the classic cold version. Either way, the lobster was incredibly fresh and delicious, which made both styles worth savoring. The outdoor seating area is beautiful, with peaceful views that make the whole experience feel extra special. We also tried a couple of their cocktails, which were unique and flavorful--definitely not your average beachside drink menu. If you're looking for a scenic, relaxed spot with fresh seafood and great drinks, Abel's is a winner. I'd happily return to try more from the menu and soak in that view again.

Best lobster ever!!! Got the lazy lobster and it was truly a delicious experience. We got seated pretty quickly- honestly don't know why people would wait hours for outside dining when the restaurant itself is great! Lemonade is delicious, food was so great. We had Dai (?spelling) as our waitress and she was wonderful. Loved this! Will be going back for sure!

Beautiful view right on the bay. We had to wait 45 mins for our table (which was fine- the view was amazing) and the parking was kinda hectic- there's a little lot that gets full quickly so everyone kinda just parks wherever. But the staff were all super nice and helpful and the food itself was really good ! I got the fish bisque and it was really good !! Overall would visit if in the area. So beautiful.

Service was great and food was good. Highlights were the blueberry pie and the lobster. The burger was good too. Did not enjoy the cornbread too much as it ate dry. The lobster roll was ok but we preferred it from other places. The sauce felt a bit heavy. There was an hour wait on a Friday around 630pm. Great sunset views from the water.

Abel's Lobster was discovered upon a recommendation of some friends, and it did not disappoint! We knew we would have a wait on the Thursday evening we visited, and it was a 25 minute wait, just as we had been told. They have one bartender for the entire place, but drinks didn't back up and were quick to arrive. I ordered an old fashioned at the bar and brought it outside to enjoy by the fire while we waiting. I can tell the view must be amazing, but it was dark outside, so we did not get to see it. But the grounds are pretty awesome, nonetheless. When we were seated inside, Jane took amazing care of us. We ordered a couple of appetizers (brussels were delish) and wine, and then settled on our main order. I was in Maine almost a week and had not had the steamed lobster yet, so I ordered that. Let me tell you, it was delicious! Very fresh and easy to peel. The butter/garlic sauce was good, but i like tasting the flavor of the lobster itself. I ordered a side of coleslaw which was also nice. For dessert, 3/5 at the table ordered the blueberry pie. I took a bite and it was pretty tasty, and I don't even care for pie! The meal was pretty reasonably priced as well. If I make it back up there, Abel's is absolutely on my list to return to!

amazing vibe, clearly a classic The wood fired lobster-pot feed by fresh sea water screams authenticity and immediately had me ready to join their lobster cult. Food was excellent and reasonably priced

We arrived before they opened for dinner and there was already a line- understandably so. We loved sitting outside and enjoying the view of the water. Loved the casual picnic tables and uneven dirt floor. Ordered lobster mac and cheese and a lobster roll, both of which were packed lobster meat. The mac and cheese was perfection. The blueberry pie was delicious as well.

Charming, New England Lobster You can't come to Maine without eating a lobster roll, and Ables has a good one. After a day of hiking in the national park, this is the perfect stop off for a quick snack or dinner. Dine inside or out. As you can see from the photos I dined outside in the cool evening air. Today I had the main lobster roll, on a buttery brioche with lemon chive aïoli. ($39), large chunks of lobster in a creamy Savory sauce .... what more can you ask for? Delicious. Also ordered their cornbread large ($10) which was enough for two people and was really good. Service was super friendly and attentive which made for an enjoyable experience. Would highly recommend Ables and I will be back again Follow me on Facebook, Instagram, X and yelp as a travel the world in search of the perfect dining experiences. As others have said get ready for a wait as there are no reservations. I think lunch is the better play. Service was great. Our server was attentive and friendly. Setting is fantastic. We ate outside on a picnic table in the pines with filtered views of the harbor. I didn't check out the indoor seating area. The ground of the outside seating area is very rough, uneven, sloping, and riddled with tripping hazards so if you are elderly or have mobility challenges, you may want to sit inside. I thought the food was really good. We had steamers, lobster, mussels and some kids items. Everything was delicious. The wafting wood smoke added to the atmosphere. A little touristy and the annoying clientele you'd expect of the area but probably less than other options closer to Bar Harbor. I would definitely go back. Just get there early!

What a terrific experience outside. The soups were incredible, the fried chicken sandwich was world class and the burger was great quality.

You think you turned off the wrong road as you start down the hill past the sail boat repair shop, but when you get to the bottom of the drive, you know you are in the right place! We were seated quickly, the service was friendly and the food was wonderful. We sat outside by the water and enjoyed the view and fresh air.

We came to Abel's Lobster for an early dinner after a long day of hiking, and ordered the Spicy Mussels, Crab Rangoon Grilled Cheese, and Abel's Fish Chowder. Spicy Mussels ($18) was made with Korean chili, shallot, coconut milk, nuoc cham, with a side of sourdough toast. It was okay and had a mild spice. Crab Rangoon Grilled Cheese ($25) included challah Maine crab, with a side of sweet chili dipping sauce and fries. The grilled cheese was interesting and pretty good, but the star were the fries. Thick cut, inside was soft while outside was perfectly crisp and salted. Did not feel heavy. Abel's Fish Chowder ($19) was made with traditional style haddock, bacon, potatoes, and herbs. The soup was pretty bland without the bacon. Our server was nice, but service was pretty slow despite it being pretty empty. And I have a slight pet peeve when servers stand in front of you when you are paying and calculating tip.

Solid spot - we got the lobster bisque, fried clam plate and a wedge salad. My favorite was the lobster bisque - very creamy and packed with lobster flavor. Prices were a little steep, but the quality pays off

Even the wind tried to crash our dinner, but the food more than made up for it. We started with the lobster bisque, which my husband took very seriously -- he ordered bisque everywhere we went in Maine and appointed himself an unofficial judge. Verdict here? Top contender. The lobster tail was fresh, buttery perfection, and that sweet corn on the cob might've been the best I've ever had (sorry, Midwest). Our server was an absolute gem -- friendly, funny, and full of great tips. She even told us to check out the beach across the street, where I found my very first piece of sea glass.
