We went here during the tourism offseason and we were just so happy to find something open after an 8 hour drive to Bar Harbor. And wow did this place amaze us. Our food was absolutely delectable and the cozy vibes made everything even better.

    Pork chop, lobster dish

Everything was awesome. Very reasonably priced for how great the food was. French onion was delish and was the dinner entrees we got I thought the bean dip was good. service was great you could tell she was working hard she was super funny and honest. My husbands drink was just ok and bar seemed a little slow. we were full so did not have dessert but they looked very good.

Shrimp in a savory creamy tasty sauce!!

The food was rich, flavorful, and original. Service was amazing at the bar with Patrick!! He's such a kind fellow!! It's a dark romantic place!! We were very lucky to walk in and squeeze in at the bar! Get the French onion soup, mushroom crostini , and shrimp in a sauce!!! Yummy!!

    French soup very good

We shared the paella. The rice was crispy as it should be and the dish was not rushed. We enjoyed a Pisco sour from the bar. Wonderful experience in Bar Harbor.

We weren't able to get a reservation last minute so we took our luck with getting seats at their small bar. (Side note - we accidentally sat down at the bar at the more casual place next door before we realized we were at the wrong place!) The bar seats were very comfortable and we enjoyed dining there - there were 2 musicians playing guitars throughout the whole meal. I must commend the bartender for her amazing service throughout the night. Despite how busy it was, she was on top of things - even remembering to remind the host to turn on the overhead music as soon as the guitar players took a break. To start, we shared the tostada - very tasty, large portion of brisket & the mango pico very good. For our mains, I had the lobster moqueca and my husband had the filet. My entrée was delicious. The broth was so tasty with large chunks of lobster. My husband's steak entree was so-so - it came out medium rare despite asking for medium. He didn't really like the potatoes on the side either. Since my husband doesn't eat fish, there weren't a ton of entrée options for him. We still really enjoyed our meal and had no room for dessert. The meal was on the pricier side since we also had a couple rounds of cocktails but it was worth it. We liked the atmosphere and being in the action at the bar.

Super flavorful and a generous pour. I got the rib eye tacos and my husband got the haddock ones. We both liked the haddock better. The rib eye was chewy and kind of a weird choice for a taco. The view is nice. The service was nothing to write home about.

We wanted to sit at the bar but, there weren't 3 seats next to each other so, we ended up at a table right next to bar. The server greeted us and was very pleasant. He took the drink order and hadn't brought anything out when bar seats opened and we asked him to move. The bartender was extremely rude and said "no-we don't allow you to move tables". We even offered to pay out with server and she copped an attitude and again said no. Since she had a bad attitude anyway, we decided to just stay at the table. We ordered oysters and a few other apps. The drinks came out, 2 mixed cocktails and a glass of Meomi Pinot noir. Immediately, the wine drinker said the wine smelled a little vinegary. Upon tasting she said it was absolutely old and had us taste it as well. It was awful. Everyone at the table is an avid wine drinkers and know the difference between a bad wine and spoiled wine. We called the server over, explained the wine had turned and asked to change it for another option. He turned to the bartender who was overhearing the conversation and she snapped "I just opened the bottle when I poured that glass". You just don't know what you ordered and don't like it". We explained we are very familiar with Meomi and it's actually one we regularly drink. The server was uncomfortable and said "we aren't allowed to take things off the bill so you have to pay for it even if you don't drink it". WHAT? Craziest thing I've ever heard. We asked him to go get the manager. After a few minutes, the manager came out and said "we can't take it off the bill just because you don't like it". We explained the wine was bad. The manager said "that's not what the bartender said". So basically the bartender had lied about why we were sending it back. The manager asked to see the bottle she supposedly just opened. She pulls it up and it's almost empty! When we pointed out she lied about just opening it, she realized she was busted and said "maybe it was yesterday". She clearly had no idea when it was open. The manager then told us she isn't allowed to take items off the bill without the owner approving. Fine-go tell the owner to come out. She went to the back and then came out again and said "the owner doesn't drink wine so they don't know if it's bad or not". Ummm-maybe take a wine class when you own a restaurant?!? The distributors offer them for free for gods sake. The manager was apologetic and told us they can't take things off the bill no matter what because the owner says "people are scammers and just try to get things for free all them time". We hadn't even drank it so not sure what we were trying to get for free. Long story, they don't care about the quality of what they are serving or the guest experience. The manager did personally remove it as she agreed we weren't trying to "scam" anything. I hope she didn't have to pay out of pocket. We paid for the remaining balance of food (which had come out while this was going on and sat there getting cold) and drinks and left without finishing anything. It wasn't worth allowing their poor attitudes ruin what had otherwise been a great day. We went back down the street to Barnacles. The oysters and service are outstanding and worth every penny. Visited 2 nights in a row!

We did get food to go, but our hotel was just steps away. So not a long journey from the restaurant to our room. We ordered the lobster nachos. It was not edible and they were so expensive. I was looking forward to getting some lobster, but didn't want a lobster roll and thought this would do it. First of all-- everything was mush. Not even soggy, but like all mush and disintegrated. I can deal with soggy-- it's take out so I don't have high expectations for fresh food. But the chips literally dissolved. There was also no cheese? I don't understand how you can have nachos with no cheese. Also, was advertised with sour cream and there was no sour cream. Lastly, I had lobster earlier today at a different restaurant. It tasted so fresh. This lobster was different. Almost like it was bad or even like a little gamey. I didn't eat but that one piece because I'm afraid I might get food poisoning-- something was just off. I'm not very hard to please and will eat pretty much anything from anywhere. The fact that I wouldn't eat the food (especially after paying $32) says a lot. I literally told my husband I would've rather had McDonald's Giving 2 stars only bc the guy on the phone who took our order was super nice.

The toast was our favorite dish all week, with the mushrooms being perfectly cooked and the chèvre bringing a creaminess and slight funk to the dish. The octopus somehow had a melt in your mouth texture with a strong barbecue flavor and delicious sauces. We also ordered the ceviche, scallops, crab cakes, and duck tacos. It was all delicious, and flavors were well-balanced, meaning acids and fats were paired well together. Food presentation was exceptional. Service was incredible, in that our waiter answered all of our questions and food came quickly. Additionally, my wife and I showed up at 5:30 and were promptly seated. I think being offset from the main intersection some helps with crowds. Ambiance was top tier with the water feature and greenery.

Their menu is surprisingly diverse and everything we tried was perfectly executed with extremely fresh ingredients. Everything is made from scratch, from the corn tortillas in the tacos to the tzatziki sauce in their lamb kofta. The cocktails were also expertly crafted. Special thanks to Nicole for remembering that my kids had nut allergies and removing the pistachios from the bruschetta without my asking. We will definitely be back the next time we're in Bar Harbor.
