This is a fun, casual spot with Route 66 memorabilia covering nearly every surface, giving it a classic retro highway diner vibe. First night in town on vacation we always get pizza. We settled on this place and sort of wish we hadn't. It's a neat place aesthetically speaking and the staff were friendly....but for a bowl of bisque and two small-ish (there are no "sizes") pizzas and two cokes it was $78 with the tip. This restaurant is an experience by itself. You jump back into time when you enter this restaurant. So many nostalgic toys, signs, various objects that we would've possibly seen in our grandparents homes. Our waitress was very cheerful and jested back and forth a little. The food is pretty good. The blueberry float is worth it. My grandparents loved the salmon and fish & chips. My niece and nephew had the chicken tenders and kids burger. The rest of my family tried their salads, onion rings, fried pickles, pulled pork tacos, and a few other items. The food is delicious and decently priced. Make your Bar Harbor experience memorable by taking your kids here. It's hidden a little. It's down a "hidden" alley but when you look down it you see the car hanging over the front entrance. That said, our server really brought the experience down. He never checked on us, we had to ask twice for a lime (never got it) and when we asked for his name, he seemed hesitant -- probably because he knows he's not providing great service. It felt like he had a bad attitude from the moment we sat down. I won't share his name because maybe he was having a bad day but come on dude, there was maybe 5 tables in the entire restaurant. We were stopped by the hostess near the street to see the menu and boy are we glad she did! The food was absolutely delicious!! Drinks for amazing as well! It's sort of a hole 8n the wall.spot given that it's down a skinny side street but you'll know the place by the taxi cab outside the top of the building. I was here almost two years ago, in June 2021, when I was in the area, and I still think about those blueberry margaritas. I had as many as I could while I was there. I wish I could buy it in jugs to have back home. You MUST try the blueberry margarita (with a sugar rim - I was given a choice for salt or sugar rim). Why weren't there more people in this place? Maybe it was because it's set back from the street. We had an outstanding meal. I had the seafood Newberg and my wife had lobster tacos. We also had a lobster dip with chips as an appetizer. All were excellent. My family and I came here for lunch, and it has a very unique interior that makes you feel like you're stepping back into the 50s-60s! The restaurant is head to toe decked out in retro gadgets and signs, and super cool. The food took a very long time to come, but was overall pretty alright. Also important to note that we visited Maine during a non-peak season, and this was one of the few restaurants that were open, if you're planning a visit! Maine Poppables: This was my favorite dish, and I overheard another table order another round of these because they were so good! They're cheese curds served with a flavorful chunky sweet tomato sauce, and the cheese curds were so crispy without being overly oily. 2. BBQ Chicken Pizza: I was disappointed by this one, because the pizza itself was kind of small, and very doughy. There wasn't enough sauce and chicken on it. 3. Lobster Bisque: This was tasty, though there weren't a ton of lobster chunks. 4. Chicken Beet Walnut Salad: Interestingly, no dressing was served with this. I am on vacation in Maine and we stopped at Route 66 in Bar Harbor around 2pm which was a good time cause it was not busy at all. The restaurant is very spacious with a lot of seating (they have an upper level too) and there's tons of unique antique decorations as well as license plates covering the walls. We were seated right away and our server was patient and did a great job answering any questions we had. The food was amazing! My lobster roll was very "meaty" and the clam chowder was good but I would of liked more clams in it. We were all happy with our meals and it was reasonably priced. We chose Route 66 for an early dinner on a bustling Friday night in Bar Harbor. We did not have a reservation and had a group of 8 but were [gladly] seated in (2) groups of four. She went above and beyond. I wish I caught her name. She had several facial piercings. I do know that! First - the Kid's mac and cheese was my daughter's favorite - good 'ol Kraft. My other daughter enjoyed the pasta with marinara (fettuccine noodles). Other dishes amongst our crowd: Chicken & Waffles, Poppables Burger, Seafood Alfredo, Fish & Chips, Shrimp Scampi and the Haddock tacos. Everyone raved. I had the tacos. A lot of the comments said that the place was kind of pricey, but I'm here to tell you that the prices were 23 dollars less for a beer than down the street And other prices for things were a little bit cheaper too. I felt like this was one of the more affordable venues in comparison to the area of the places that we checked out. Front of ours got the lobster roll and it was the favorite one that he had. They have a really good blueberry wheat beer and it's only eight bucks for a pint and that's pretty great. They have a blueberry pie made with blueberry from Maine. We arrived here for a late lunch and immediately sat at a table inside. The interior of the restaurant is super eclectic and unique, with loads of antiques decorating every square inch. However, it's a very old building so it could definitely use a bit of renovation. There were a lot of options for food and I decided on the Fried Haddock, which came with a side of fries and tartar sauce. The fish was absolutely huge! I don't think I've ever had such a large portion of fried fish before. I do wish there were a better balance of sides to even everything out. The fish also was pretty average, nothing super special in terms of taste and quality. The breading also kept flaking off which made it a bit difficult to eat.
