Wait Route 66 never went this far east!! So much enjoyable memorabilia to view. The bar had glass cases with a variety of "old" vintage games, lunch thermos and such to look at. Just had a quick drink while we waited for our to go pizzas. Restaurant is nestled between two other venues set back a bit. Unique entry with a car in the wall!! Nice that their pizzas were available with a gluten free crust. I had the seafood gluten free pizza. It came with shrimp, lobster, and scallops. I eliminated the scallops. I'm in Maine so a lobster pizza was a must. Very tasty plenty of cheese!!

Beat the heat with lunch at Route 66! It was unseasonably warm and the humidity was crazy. So we took a break from hikes with lunch at this cute Route 66 restaurant. We started with the nachos platter as we cooled down. We ordered the Cobb salad, pulled pork bbq, chicken wings and quesadillas ... a little bit of everything! But it was so good. Our waiter was amazing and took great care of us. Thanks, Jesse! And the atmosphere was so much fun. While much of it was before our time, we could at least point out items our grandparents had in their homes, lol. It made for a fun, relaxing and delicious afternoon! Highly recommend!

Stopped in for lunch today. The 1950's-1960's decor around the restaurant is unbelievable. There are so many cool things to look at while you dine. The menu had something for everyone. I ordered the Blue Moon burger which was a cheeseburger with a blueberry twist. Everything had good flavor. Service was fast and staff were friendly. No complaints from us!

THE BEST LOBSTER GRILLED CHEESE I EVER HAD! This place is a must visit when visiting bar harbor, extremely unique and vibrant. I've never enjoyed a meal like I did here. The fries weren't the best but it's okay. The meal was pricy tho, I think I paid $44 but it's lobster so I'm not shocked. The service was great, everything was just perfect. I can't wait to come back here again!

First night in town on vacation we always get pizza. We settled on this place and sort of wish we hadn't. It's a neat place aesthetically speaking and the staff were friendly....but for a bowl of bisque and two small-ish (there are no "sizes") pizzas and two cokes it was $78 with the tip. The bisque was good, the pizza was average at best. I left hungry and mad I spent almost $80 on an overall mid experience. I won't be back, this trip or any other trip.

Caesar salad, islander special, shrimp scampi, Maine poppable burger, fish n chips, and a soup. Everything was okay but honestly meh. All the proteins were overcooked from the burger to the shrimp to the chicken. The clam chowder was amazing however. Blueberry wine was also good here. Cute decor too. Service was alright as well.

Our food was amazing! Our server was very sweet and helpful. We had a wonderful experience. No reservations, walked up and had a table with no wait at dinner time on a Saturday night. The menu had so many great options and they accommodated a picky eaters palette with no judgement! The seafood alfredo was amazing as well as the salad. The vibes of the restaurant were great as well, with 50s and 60s music playing in the background. We will definitely be returning!

The food is fine, the service is perky enjoyed the section of the restaurant was quiet away from the bar scene Saturday night, couple of noisy college students that I'm guessing are having a fun filled night out in Bar Harbor Maine center areas.

Route 66 Restaurant deserves far more stars than it currently has. We literally stumbled upon it since it's tucked away behind the shops. This is a fun, casual spot with Route 66 memorabilia covering nearly every surface, giving it a classic retro highway diner vibe. The staff was friendly, the portions were generous, and the food was genuinely delicious. We each ordered the half-and-half options, lobster roll with chowder and lobster roll with mac and cheese. The mac was good, but definitely get the chowder, even if you're sharing. The chowder was SO good. More than enough food at a decent price for the area

This restaurant is an experience by itself. You jump back into time when you enter this restaurant. So many nostalgic toys, signs, various objects that we would've possibly seen in our grandparents homes. Our waitress was very cheerful and jested back and forth a little. The food is pretty good. The blueberry float is worth it. My grandparents loved the salmon and fish & chips. My niece and nephew had the chicken tenders and kids burger. The rest of my family tried their salads, onion rings, fried pickles, pulled pork tacos, and a few other items. The food is delicious and decently priced. Make your Bar Harbor experience memorable by taking your kids here. It's hidden a little. It's down a "hidden" alley but when you look down it you see the car hanging over the front entrance. Like I said, this is worth stopping at during your Bar Harbor trip.

Felt like stepping in a time capsule! Loved the decor, from the old western vibes to the cars mounted on various walls. The servers were attentive, making sure we were settled in and welcomed. I ordered the Cuban Route 66 and it was overall good although the fries were mostly just in pieces when I grabbed to eat it. All in all, a good spot to grab a bite in Bar Harbor!

We tried the lobster BLT, clam chowder, fried halibut sandwich, and bam shrimp Cobb salad -- all really good! The blueberry soda was a so tasty - definitely worth ordering. That said, our server really brought the experience down. He never checked on us, we had to ask twice for a lime (never got it) and when we asked for his name, he seemed hesitant -- probably because he knows he's not providing great service. It felt like he had a bad attitude from the moment we sat down. I won't share his name because maybe he was having a bad day but come on dude, there was maybe 5 tables in the entire restaurant. Still giving 4 stars because the food and drinks were solid, but the service definitely needs improvement.

Great lunch spot they were able to seat our party of 13. We had tons of fun playing eye spy! Tacos were good and staff was friendly.

However, we weren't too tired to eat it, so we had the food delivered from Side Street Cafe. So glad we did it that way cuz it was terrific... and easy to arrange ! My hubby ordered their Cubano sandwich while I ordered a cheeseburger. He loved his Cubano, which came with a side of mac 'n cheese. The mac 'n cheese was light in flavor, I think because of the kind of cheese used. I prefer more flavor, but it wasn't bad either. My( burger was quite large, and it was really tasty... very nicely seasoned beef patty, and it had all the things I like... cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle.... and catsup. I was very happy. It came with fries, but I had my fill of fries with all the lobster rolls I had ordered along the way, so I didn't eat them. Plus, there was a slice of blueberry pie calling out to me, so I wanted to blow my calories with the pie... and so glad I did cuz it was another spectacular piece of blueberry pie. Against my will, I split it with my hubby. Lol. It was a great way to end our meal. (Turns out we never got dinner that night cuz we were so full from such a nice lunch.) Side Street Cafe is definitely going on my radar if we're ever fortunate enough to return to Bar Harbor.

We sat outside in their patio because it was such a nice day, though their indoor seating also looked nice. But the highlight for me was the pie. Such a perfect balance of crust versus filling, crystallized sugar on top to add a sweet crunch, and a nice generous scoop of vanilla ice cream to go with it. I regret not coming back here at least one more time before we left Bar Harbor to get it again. All the more reason for me to plan another trip, I suppose! :)

We ordered steamers, fresh of course, so so tender. Kids got fish and chips and chicken tenders. The fry on the fish was crunchy, not greasy, and delicious. Adults got lobster Cobb salad and seafood pie. The seafood pie was outstanding. The lobster Cobb made me miss the lettuce. It was a small side salad size. It was not worth the $42 entree price for it. Overall it's worth trying but don't expect spectacular, and plan to walk out with a tshirt.

My uncle's fish and chips delivered an actual deep-fried slab of fish, somehow golden and perfectly cooked. And then the seafood pie: crispy, flaky, golden on top in a way that looks borderline burnt but is actually just butter and scallops doing what butter and scallops do. This dish was basically chowder, piled high with fish... And some more fish, with a dash of chowder. Even the blueberry beer came through; we got Orono's Wicked Maine Blueberry Ale, packed with actual blueberries floating up and down. Galyns was recommended to us by the local receptionist do the hotel where we were staying in Bar Harbor. We arrived for an early dinner at 5 pm and from the initial greeting we felt like we were in someone's home. Their menu is seafood heavy and inventive. We settled on a whole lobster as an appetizer ($36 market price) which was buttery, succulent and super fresh. The rice pilaf and broccolini that it came with were the perfect accompaniments. For the main course, my partner ordered a grilled salmon and I ordered the haddock with a lemon caper sauce. A week later and I"m still savoring the haddock. Flaky and slightly meaty, the sauce was just zesty and frothy to invite you back for another bite. The capers was an added touch and really brought the dish together. As far as the grilled salmon, you can't get fish fresher than what we had. The hostess was kind enough to steer me through a refresher course on how to crack and eat lobster (with a big on of course!). The waiter was skilled and professional, knowing when to interject, provide suggestions and provide options to make our overall experience even better. I would definitely return and can't say enough good things about the restaurant. Happy eating and bon appetit!
