Our family had a great experience at dinner tonight at the West Street Café. We had delicious onion rings as appetizers. The clam chowder was rxcellent! Then we had an assortment of main courses, including lazy, lobster, boil, lobster, vegetable pasta, salad with lobster, along with lots of sides. The blueberry pie with ice cream was good, not great... The service was excellent. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The room is spacious inside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We had a wonderful time.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]We made a reservation and had a lovely window seat upstairs.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our server was very efficient and friendly. We decided on the lobster roll meal - chowder to start, a wonderful lobster roll full of meat, and end with Maine blueberry pie. Loved every bite! We both had lobster martinis with Maine blueberries at the bottom which were delicious. Highly recommend!

Get the lobster! We got the Downeast special and lobster scampi and it was amazing. Service quick and drinks were delicious!

We had a terrific visit to this cafe. We were so pleasantly surprised by the friendly team, quick service and food quality. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This cafe sits farther down the street away from the Main Street area, so we didn't notice it at first. Convenient but quiet. However, this spot is definitely a hidden gem.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We started with the stuffed mushroom caps, and the seafood stuffing is so good. The cheese sauce on top is so freaking delicious. The. My husband tried the haddock au gratin, which also has that same cheese sauce and absolutely loved it. I went ambitiously with the Seaside Special which has a cup of delicious clam chowder, a lobster roll which was super good (and came with fries and Cole slaw--all terrific). The whole thing ends with a slice of blueberry pie--and we added a scoop of vanilla ice cream. We left happily stuffed and talking about the cafe being a great, unexpected choice.

Came here for a late lunch, enjoyed food very much and [[HIGHLIGHT]]especially the ambiance! It's gorgeous inside, very modern and inviting. They have great high ceilings and lots of air circulation.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was attentive and friendly. They have a nice kids menu as well. I had clam chowder and burrata salad. I enjoyed it very much.

This place is amazing. Solid ambience. Great service. I had the lobster scampi and the seasonal veg (broccoli). The flavor was exquisite and the lobster meat was fresh. Couldn't ask for more.

This was our second time to this restaurant, and we absolutely loved it. We came at an off peak time and we're instantly seated and taken very well care of. We were served by the bartender who was wonderful. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is spacious yet has a cozy modern coastal clean feel which we loved.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]We think the boat in the sky is a pretty neat feature, as are the maps on the tables.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our server was knowledgeable and helped us make choices when we were torn between two items and the food was delicious. Great value for the price. The muscles came highly recommended by the server and he was totally on point. It was a great serving and the sauce had a slight spice to it that made the muscles really stand out. My husband enjoyed his chicken sandwich too. We have reflected that we would totally returned to the restaurant even on the trip we're on now. Regardless whenever we're back in Bar Harbor we will be back.

This place is very very nice, their staff is very friendly and helpful, [[HIGHLIGHT]]the decoration is maritime simple and elegant, I personally love their bar area, it's big and at the end it has a table for 5-6, the boots for large parties were also very big and comfortable we like that we were very comfortable.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] we order a few appetizers and whole lobsters and all absolutely amazing just perfect, their food flavors were on point with each course, even their bread with rosemary was delicious, the lobster was perfectly cooked, the crab cakes were also exquisite and the stuff mushrooms were my favorite. Really really good restaurant. Keep in mind that they are very busy and waiting time may be long also the food takes its time.

    Beautiful entrance

Our lunch was delicious! Everything came out in a timely fashion, and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the restaurant itself area feels very coastal.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The decor is exactly what you would want it to be for a coastal restaurant. Service was great.

Incredible food. Everyone in my party loved their meal. I ordered the salmon house salad with a cup of clam chowder and it was to die for. The restaurant has wide open windows alongside the building so it gives you a chance to people watch while enjoying your meal. So good!

    Tasty lobster dinner $37

We have been coming here for years (since it was a little hose with a porch). This was the best tasting lobster I had this trip. The lobster meal was $37, which is great for the area. Our waiter was nice. There are beautiful plants hanging from the ceiling. The windows were open and we had a nice breeze. One of the staff members found out the name of a fern for me.

However, we weren't too tired to eat it, so we had the food delivered from Side Street Cafe. So glad we did it that way cuz it was terrific... and easy to arrange ! My hubby ordered their Cubano sandwich while I ordered a cheeseburger. He loved his Cubano, which came with a side of mac 'n cheese. The mac 'n cheese was light in flavor, I think because of the kind of cheese used. I prefer more flavor, but it wasn't bad either. My( burger was quite large, and it was really tasty... very nicely seasoned beef patty, and it had all the things I like... cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle.... and catsup. I was very happy. It came with fries, but I had my fill of fries with all the lobster rolls I had ordered along the way, so I didn't eat them. Plus, there was a slice of blueberry pie calling out to me, so I wanted to blow my calories with the pie... and so glad I did cuz it was another spectacular piece of blueberry pie. Against my will, I split it with my hubby. Lol. It was a great way to end our meal. (Turns out we never got dinner that night cuz we were so full from such a nice lunch.) Side Street Cafe is definitely going on my radar if we're ever fortunate enough to return to Bar Harbor.

We didn't have a bad bite... is a gross understatement. Just amazing food and unique flavor…read moreprofiles for the usual BH spots. Off the beaten tourist path and open year round, PP lives up to the reviews and hype. We made a mistake our first night in Bar Harbor going to a tourist trap and getting a rubbery lobster roll and sad chowder. I did a bit of research online and found Peekytoe and was SO glad for it. While you don't get a water view, but a cute walk down the main drag, it is WELL worth the excursion AND HOW. My husband said his Crabby Patty was the best crab cake sandwich he ever had. I agreed in as I had the cake as an app. I also got a Halibut dish with pickled fiddleheads (a local green I might liken to okra for lack of other reference) and blistered tomatoes. It was moist, well cooked fish, amazing sides with phenomenal heightening elements. We also enjoyed our cocktails immensely. GO if you are a foodie and don't want a lame wannabe roll with some kids grilled cheese sides, DO this spot. SO well worth it. PS to manament - I know you do a brunch. MAKE SURE YOU DO A CRABCAKE BENEDICT. Your crab cakes are divine and with a slight seared crunch. Ideal. You can even do a lemon-fiddlehead or blistered tomato HOLLANDAISE. I'd be IN IN as I am sure most people would. The vinegary elements from the fiddleheads to (I think) my husband's pickled onion atop his crabby patty MADE the CRABCAKES THE STAR.

When asked for the WiFi password at the beginning of the meal, she said "I'll ask" and never got back to us until the end of the meal, when we had to remind her. When taking our orders, she specifically asked if we wanted cold butter or warm butter on our lobster. While my friends wanted cold butter, they got warm. Food was subpar. While the price for lobster here is cheaper than most places, my lobster ended up being very rubbery. Partner ordered a pineapple ginger juice, and it was VERY heavy on the ginger and tasted "off", like drinking kimchi. I didn't care for the sweet potato mash, it did not go with the dish (lobster) at all, but the cucumbers were ok. Portions were uneven. My friends got the same lobster as I did, and yet they got significantly less lobster. Finally, while I know this wasn't a restaurant problem, I feel as they failed to act accordingly. One of my friends went to go to the restroom, and saw a man laying down on the floor. Staff were notified, but the staff seemingly did nothing; we asked the staff for an update and they just shrugged us off (because we were concerned for that man). If you're wanting to try lobster for the first time, DONT come here - spend a little bit extra on more reputable places, because this place was not it.

This has made the top 5 restaurant steaks on my list, and I've cooked, interviewed, and let's just say... been around. It was a motivating factor to visit the establishment, enjoy a lovely meal in a lovely town, and tip heavily. You claim to be a culinary source of authority. I think it's great that you own a Subway franchise in New York City, but I might hesitate from throwing around the word 'chef' too haughtily. I mean just because one wears a cowboy hat does not mean one owns cattle, am I right? Perhaps there were dishes on the menu that one could argue were overengineered, but they tasted great! And consider that you have no idea where in the culinary journey their chef is, nor what the market needs or will bear in Bar Harbor. The place was packed. Service was great. Food was divine! On a Tuesday night. Maybe next time you visit a restaurant, leave your Michelin yardstick in the trunk of your broomstick, and simply relax. Or possibly return to Bar Harbor Bicycle Shop, another establishment you experienced through your Vantablack-colored glasses and blew up on this site. I'm sure they would zealously rent you another bike if you promised to venture into Acadia and get lost. Cheers!

The view? Lovely. The vibe? A little... off. The place has that "it could be nice if someone cared just a bit more" feel -- not bad, just lacking that spark (or maybe a good interior refresh). My husband, on his noble quest to sample every lobster bisque in Maine, declared this one the worst of the trip -- and trust me, the man takes bisque seriously. My beet salad with picked lobster was actually quite good, fresh and nicely balanced, which saved the meal from total disappointment. Service matched the décor -- polite enough but not exactly engaged. It had that subtle "we're doing you a favor" energy, which really pairs best with... no one's martini. Speaking of which, I had to remind our server to actually add the olives to mine. Small details, big impact, friends. In conclusion: go for the view, not the vibe. There's potential here, but it needs a little love -- and a lot more attention to the bisque.
