They offer a fantastic lobster roll tossed with mayo or butter and you can get it 4oz, 6oz, or 8oz. My sister and I got the 6oz roll with butter to split (they even cut it in half for us) & a small order of crab fries. My dad got the Ultimelt (essentially a grilled cheese with bacon on sourdough) and everything was absolutely incredible!! We couldn't stop talking about how good everything was and we highly recommend this place for lunch!! Ordered some regular fries which were nice and crispy. Definitely hit after the hike. Also got some blueberry popovers which I feel the term popover is used very loosely for. Super fried/cinnamon sugar exterior and a creamy blueberry interior. Definitely enjoyable, but not sure if it's really a popover? Bottom line if you don't have time to read this--GO TO MELT! This is easily one of the best places to get food in Bar Harbor. I recently stopped in and I'm mad at myself I didn't do it sooner. Their sandwiches are incredibly delicious. They absolutely know the appropriate types of cheeses to use because they were stand-out good. I went for lunch here three out of the four days of my recent trip. I tried both the Mac & Cheese Melt and the Ultimelt and I can't say enough good things about them. Their Mac & cheese on its own is delicious but add it to this sandwich and it's even better! The bacon on their Ultimelt is done perfectly crispy, and it doesn't taste microwaved like the ones a lot of sandwich places use. For lobster lovers, you can also add lobster to any sandwich! I did this every time I went and it was an amazing edition to both sandwiches. I haven't tried their fries because frankly, the sandwiches are generously portioned and I'm always plenty full on one of them. There are myriad choices downtown Bar Harbor; it's tough to make an impromptu decision. I had, like many out of state travelers, a traditional New England lobster bake on my mind, but my family had other interests. After perusing several of the venues on Yelp, we were walking by Melt and before I knew it I was walking alone as my family pining over their menu. Lobster bake would have to wait; this was our lunch spot! The vegetarian in our family loved her caprese sandwich, no lack of crispy bacon on the BCT, tasty shaved steak on the Philly, and I had the Day Tripper. I probably should have read the reviews a bit closer, because instead of one roll topped with a combination of crab and lobster it was two rolls: one crab, one lobster. We got some of their seasoned fries (which start with a base of thinly sliced steak fries), delivering creative toppings such as crushed Cheetoes. I can only add to my Yelper peers glowing reviews of Melt! Hopefully my image of the Day Tripper helps others realize how much food this is and what they're committing to. If you're debating what size of fry to get, we recommend a small and suggest it can be shared by two people. My boyfriend and I visited Maine as a spontaneous endeavor, and we had to visit Bar Harbor! We started walking around and the Melt caught our attention. The menu sounded absolutely delicious so we had to go in. We ordered the BCT (bacon, cheese, tomato) and crab melt, along with their blueberry cinnamon bites. And let me tell you..absolutely DELICIOUS! The crab melt was heavenly; the combination of fresh crab and cheese with the citrus of the lemon coming through was an experience in itself. My BCT was also amazing! The combination of cheese, bacon, and juicy tomato was delightful. We decided to also get their blueberry cinnamon bites (I apologize if that isn't the right name for it) but it was warm and the cinnamon sugar coating with the cream and blueberries on the inside was the perfect way to end our lunch. The cashier was also super super nice and we felt so welcomed as soon as we walked in. She was radiating positive energy and I really appreciate that vibe when trying a new place out! Well, we blew the diet all to hell, but it was more than worth it! I'm not a big fan of food trucks. I'll try 'em, but they have to be pretty good to impress me - and this one did! My husband ordered the Party Melt and I had the Philly Melt and they were both scrumptious - excellent crispy, almost buttery bread, lean meat in both of them, just the right amount of cheese-to-meat-to-onion-to-pepper ratio in mine. My husband was too busy chowing down to give me a detailed opinion, but I think that speaks for itself! The fries were excellent, too - I generally find steak fries boring - almost too potato-y - but these were crunchy and tasty and perfect! The lady who took my order was very helpful, and I got the food in a more than reasonable amount of time. If I had to criticize, I'd say two things: as this is a food truck - so all of the business is take-out - and the portions are generous, it would be nice if the food containers weren't so flimsy. And, although there's ketchup available at the front of the truck, I would love to see some kind of small container provided for it.
