While visiting South Harbor we made reservations at this restaurant. What a great surprise! Staff was friendly food was delicious. We were very pleased with the overall experience.

    Lobster over a mushroom risotto

Had a fantastic dinner tonight with family and friends. Everything was great from the service to the atmosphere to the food. After a long 3 month stay on Mt Desert Island for work this was the perfect way to say goodbye to this beautiful island. If you are in Acadia or specifically Southwest Harbor, you owe it to yourself to try this wonderful restaurant. I recommend the Iberico pork ribs.

Jeannie was a doll. She was super friendly and went above and beyond to make our dining experience one to remember! First off, I love places with good wine glasses. This place had them! Their wine selection was also fantastic, we found a bottle of wine we have been hunting down for months. The cocktails were also good but very strong ;). We got the polenta appetizer that was really good! Just a little to much balsamic glaze for me though. Then we have the crab cakes which were also delicious and super full of crab chunks, very little filler. Then we had to lobster risotto. It was fantastic! The risotto wasn't super creamy which I liked, it seemed more broth based so it wasn't overly rich. The lobster portion was very generous and there were plenty of veggies in it. Overall it was great risotto and you didn't feel overly full and gross after eating it. We got the milk and cookies dessert to go, with a scoop of ice cream. If your in town I would go here in a heart beat! Can't wait to come back!

Duck! Must get if you like duck!

Omg get the duck! Cooked to perfection! Our table of six all agreed it's the best dish. The restaurant is located in the middle of a small town, and it gets very popular around dinner time. The ambiance is relaxed and elegant. Although we went in casual gear you can definitely dress up as well. We ordered a few appetizers to share and they were all pretty decent - pate, lobster, etc As for the main entree we got a wide range of selections, lobster (of course some of had to get it while in Maine!), chicken, and duck! Without a doubt, the duck was fabulous! Thank you to our waitress that recommended the dish. Even though the lobster was good, the duck was even better! And the chicken was surprisingly also cooked very nicely...juicy not dry! For our table we got a bottle of white wine and it was good pairing for our food. The dessert wasn't bad but it wasn't anything out standing so I recommend just going somewhere else for dessert unless you are too lazy. Fancy meal but overall it was worth the price!

They have an extensive wine cellar and we started with a nice California Sauvignon Blanc and enjoyed the ambience of a roaring fire and the view of the bay! I started with a bowl of Lobster Seafood Chowder which was absolutely decadent with large and small chunks of lobster and potatoes, bacon ,leeks, cream and a dash of sherry! My wife had seared Halibut over a bed of creamy lemon risotto! I had the Seared Scallop appetizer which was 3 diver scallops in a marvelous sauce with greens! We topped it off by sharing the Blueberry Crème Brulee! An amazing dinner from start to finish! The presentation was fantastic and the chef should be commended! Friendly courteous service!

To start, our waitress was fantastic, she was very quick and attentive, zero complaints there. Our appetizers were great, we selected the pork belly and lobster bisque to start but then our entrees were not what we were expecting. I had the salmon and my boyfriend had one of their specials, the halibut, which we both found to be underwhelming. The star of the show turned out to be the carrot cake which was a ginormous slice and was perfectly moist. A must try! I don't know if maybe we selected the wrong entree dishes, not too sure if I would return for anything other than their carrot cake.

All three orders were significantly overcooked. Worse yet, it was literally the toughest piece of meat I've ever been served in my life, and I'm 83 years old. The other two orders were equally tough, to the point that one had to saw them to get into edible pieces. And then very difficult to chew. When we complained to our server, we got an "I'm sorry" and nothing more. No one came from the kitchen to investigate or indicate any concern about the quality of our meal. Our joke was the lamb served must have died of old age. A very expensive meal in addition. Very disappointed and, like Charlie on the MTA, we will never return.

Parking, however, was tricky and on rocky pavement (I'll remember no patent leather or heels next time). They struggled to find our reservation even though we used a reputable app. Eventually, we were seated with a view of the harbor. Our waters took some time to arrive (we know there are shortages around the country, so we tried to be patient). After 30 minutes in, we're finally able to place our orders. We ordered appetizers and main course at once (we hiked Acadia that day, so we're hungry). We opted for a salad and we each got a Lobster Popover. It was our first time trying a popover filled with Lobster!! I had high expectations, but after a few bites in, I was definitely tasting more butter than lobster. Don't get me wrong, there was lots of lobster in the pastry but the taste of butter was dominant We're glad we tried the place but I'm no rush to try a buttery popover again.

I had the burger special which was fucking fantastic! I was getting pretty tired of seafood at this point and it was the most refreshing change of pace. Fancy pants presentation and all things considered some of the best crab cakes we had on our trip. Bartender was really friendly and was super proud of their whiskey/bourbon collection. He did point out a few bottles to us that were really quite special and hard to come across. They had some Penelope variants that were unseen to me. I would come back in a heartbeat.
