If hunger is the best sauce, then the "sauce" dished out at The Upper Deck is exceptional! We sat outside overlooking the picturesque marina and harbor. Server Judah kicked things off for us with local beers and the beer battered lobster nuggets. The best was yet to come: perfectly cooked halibut and a very generous serving of local scallops lounging in a butter and white wine sauce. Both mains came with potatoes and a medley of veggies. We were looking for a lunch restaurant while driving in Acadia and one of our group found this online so we decided to check it out. We were able to find a table for 6 so that was nice. My wife and I shared a chicken wrap and a bowl of clam chowder and a chicken wrap and a side salad while friends shared lobster rolls and we all enjoyed our lunch. Leslie was a very good server and friendly and shared stories about the restaurant and some personal stuff. Today was a cash only day and Leslie shared it was because everything was being donated to a local charity. One thing about this restaurant is good food and decent prices compared to others that we've been in on our trip. Another is that the owners have a sense of humor some think and very funny and others not as much with signs in the restaurant and restrooms. Came here for lunch, seating was a little slow but the food made up for it. Both had regular drinks, then ordered calamari was very fresh and tasty, also had the mussels with rosemary/garlic herb sauce very fresh and full of flavor I wanted to drink all the juice(so good) and I also had their Diablo burger(jalapeño and cheddar) and let me say it was by far one of the best burgers I've ever had, I don't know what they put on it but it was delish, perfectly(cooked medium) don't even know how to describe it but it was amazing. read more

I loved the view from our seat as there are so many boats it's fascinating. They have a nice drink menu and I chose a martini that had blueberry vodka and rhubarb. It was very tasty. Our server was very nice and helpful. The menu has a variety of sandwiches, salads and entrees. I wasn't all that hungry so I ordered a flatbread. We waited quite a while, and when it arrived, I thought I had been served a kids pizza. This flatbread was tiny and the crust wasn't really cooked. This was not at all what I was expecting. Atmosphere - Very good. The restaurant is located on an inlet and has a very nice view of the water and the boats. This is a casual restaurant that appears to attract both local residents and a tourists. Service - Very Good. Although it did take quite a long time between our order and the presentation of the meal, our server was very attentive. Food - Very Good. I had the chicken Marsala and it was delicious. The chicken was very tender and the sauce tasty. Overall Value - Very Good. This is a tourist area and we were dining at peak season, so prices are expected to be above average. I had an amazing dinner with a friend . She had the lobster, it was cooked perfectly, was a good size, and reasonably priced for the area. I had the cheeseburger and fries, and have to say it was absolutely delicious. Everything came out hot and fresh, the service was great, and the view unbeatable. The fries were amazing, crisp, hot, and delicious. They must stay up on keeping their grease clean and fresh, some places sure don't bother with that. My mom ordered a bloody Mary with shrimp. The server said that's only on Sundays but they "might still have some shrimp kicking around back there"...the drink list said nothing about the offer to add shrimp only on Sundays and...doesn't this restaurant serve shrimp? Just an odd statement that was incorrect, according to the option to add shrimp on the drink menu. Our waiter was very pleasant and prompt. The ambience was amazing, beautiful views. We sat outside and it was really comfortable. No issues with bugs. I had the lobster club, which was outstanding. We had a big party of 14 (2 tables including a kids' table) Lots of servers and all very friendly (like ours) except for 1 person who delivers the dishes (but doesn't take the orders). She seemed quite upset and rushed the entire night. When she called out various dishes and no one claimed it, she would unceremoniously drop the unclaimed dish right by an unbeknownst guest! We realize that it is the end of season. Our waiter was less than enthusiastic to say the least. We watchEd our drinks sit at the bar for 15 minutes before he came and got them because he was busy hanging out in the kitchen. We saw him just talking. After we got our food, he never came to ask if anything was OK did we need anything else. We then had to ask the bartender and another waitress for check. Desssert was never offered. We were a party of six, so the gratuity was already added. That was in his favor because he would not have received a good tip. We wanted to get away from the crowds in Bar Harbor and we picked a winner! The view overlooking the bay is spectacular. They have a great selection of local craft beers, which we were looking for. Went to the Upper Deck today, and I have to say it is one the best, and least expensive restaurants I've been to on this vacation. We sat at the bar - and Daniell made us a delicious blueberry mojito- which I highly recommend tasting! I ate the Chicken Marsala, which was to die for, and my daughter had the fried shrimp plate. She also tried this blueberry soda, which I think you must try if you visit Maine! Great food and great atmosphere. And the view...best one on the island I think! Only issue we had was parking - but she told us inside you can park at the marina down below. We'll be back!!! read more

We stopped here on a whim after going to the lighthouse. The only good thing about this place is the view. It looks over the harbor. We were staying locally and thought ok...why cook. We can grab dinner and drinks here. Unfortunately we didn't check Yelp. We started with steamers. They were decent. Clam chowder was thin, a few clams nothing to write home about. Baked stuffed haddock was inedible. Seafood stuffing was burnt and fish was stuck to the casserole plate. Served with hash brown potatoes and carrots. Inedible snd an odd side. The fish and chips was over fried in oil that most likely wasn't changed in weeks. Service was non existent. They should have paid me to eat here. Id avoid at all costs. I had the crab roll which was served with fries and slaw. The crab roll was okay--enough meat but a tad salty I believe. The french fries were decent. The coleslaw was not flavorful and could have used more vinegar / seasoning. Overall--this place is OK for a bite--it's nice to sit on the deck out here. Came here for lunch with my in-laws while on vacation. Fantastic customer service, and the views were recommended by many locals. The food wasn't great, though. While taking a break from lobster, I ordered hot wings and a Bloody Mary. The Bloody Mary was watery and not very spicy. The wings were very fatty and also not very spicy. No one else seemed particularly thrilled with their food, but it was sustenance nonetheless. I wouldn't come here again unless everywhere else was closed or booked. Plenty of parking including a small lot in front and located in a quaint neighborhood. To maximize your experience, come here for a few local beers and enjoy the view to wind down the day. Mmm, the setting is interesting...It feels like a rustic pier restaurant that serves seafood. Don't expect fine dining here. Very picnic-esque cutlery, wrapping and dishware. They have multiple sections all with a view of the bay. The food is just ok. I ordered the fried clams and it was a bit gross that they used the WHOLE clam and not did clam strips but that was my fault for not checking. My partner ordered the fish sandwich and said it was fine. They refilled our diet cokes for free which was nice. The service was nice enough, bathrooms were well kept. I had the fried seafood platter and the best part was the fried shrimp; and I know that those are imported and most likely pre-breaded and frozen. Wow, what a turnaround. We have been avoiding the Upper Deck for a couple years as the quality had dipped, but tried it for lunch today and loved everything. We ordered mozzarella sticks, seafood dip, lobster clubs, a bacon, chicken, avocado and cheese sandwich, and a Cobb salad and everything was great. Wonderful service, excellent view. We were looking for a place with a vibe to grab a local brew. They did have local brews and the vibe felt cool because we would see the boats but overall the experience was just eh. We couldn't tell if the bartender was trying to be funny or didn't like us. It had just rained and when we tried to sit at a table that wasn't completely wet on the back patio, he told us curtly where we couldn't sit but gave no indication where we could sit. We decided to hang out by the edge and half the beer on the menu was out. When we asked if we could get a slice of pie he answered with just a "no." And after a pause, he followed up with "we have no desserts." Maybe this place is a locals only but we certainly didn't feel welcomed. read more
