If you're taking a whale cruise, Sunrise cafe is conveniently located next to the waiting lines when you head down towards the doc. Otherwise if you didn't know it was there it might be hard to find. Not easily seen from the front of the building. If you enter the building you have to go down two flights of stairs and make a left. So it really is a hidden gem. There are pastries and breakfast items available, I got the avocado toast, it's got A LOT of avocado on it so I scrapped a bit off and spread the rest, with a delectable balsamic glaze. AMAZING.

It came with fries, but I had my fill of fries with all the lobster rolls I had ordered along the way, so I didn't eat them. Plus, there was a slice of blueberry pie calling out to me, so I wanted to blow my calories with the pie... and so glad I did cuz it was another spectacular piece of blueberry pie. While visiting Bar Harbor, my friend, and I stopped here for lunch after a long morning of hiking in Acadia. It was the perfect comfy, carb loaded meal that we were looking for! I got the create your own mac & cheese, and it was delicious. Such a huge serving, that I probably could have shared it! Our server was also lovely and so helpful while deciding what to order. We sat outside in their patio because it was such a nice day, though their indoor seating also looked nice. But the highlight for me was the pie. Such a perfect balance of crust versus filling, crystallized sugar on top to add a sweet crunch, and a nice generous scoop of vanilla ice cream to go with it. I regret not coming back here at least one more time before we left Bar Harbor to get it again. All the more reason for me to plan another trip, I suppose! :)

Inside was very hot as AC didn't seem to be working. You order at the counter and the server will bring your food at the table. We got Joe's bowl and blue berry pancake. They seemed to have confused our order so they had to fix it but still our order came in relatively quickly. The joe's bowl looks kind if sad but the taste was good. The cheese probably should be melted at least. Blueberry pancake looked kind of lacking from the outside but once we got into it there was quite a bit of blue berry mixed in the batter. They were good with some butter and maple syrup. Service was ok they were busy but seemed to be bit hectic and disorganized. Overall, it's a ok breakfast spot. Not particularly better than typical breakfast restaurant. I suppose the name everyday joe's fitting for this restaurant.
