Porcelli's was just what we were hoping for as wrapped up our time in Bar Harbor. We were greeted by name by the host and seated promptly. Madison our server was friendly, attentive and helpful throughout our meal. The restaraunt offers both indoor and outdoor seating. We had the restaurant to ourselves initially so I cannot speak for the acoustics but overall Porcelli's offers a nice atmosphere for dinner. My family of four were eager to enjoy an Italian meal after days of traditional New England style meals. We began with the Strawberry & Burrata Salad and the Polpetti (meatballs with polenta). The starters were okay but the stars of the show came next. Our boys each enjoyed the halibut served with risotto. My husband had the Cacio e Pepe. He said it was as good as any he had while in Rome. I had the Gnocchi Mushroom Ragu. It was one of the top Gnocchi dishes I have had the pleasure of enjoying. Our ten year old son said it was the best gnocchi he has ever had. The texture of the gnocchi and the flavors of the sauce made for a flawless dish. The chef makes all pastas in-house and you can tell. The pasta dishes are exceptional! The entree portions are generous so you won't mind sharing a bite or two with your dining companions. I only wish we would have discovered this gem earlier in our trip. Really nice place to get Italian food in bar harbor. We got there early and noticed there weren't many reservations on OpenTable, but the place filled up quick. Our appetizers of the shrimp and faggotini were delicious and I enjoyed my bolognese and my husband loved his scallops. Unfortunately I came after looking at an older menu and was really looking forward to seafood pasta, but it doesn't look like they serve that anymore, so make sure you look at the most updated menu since it seems to rotate frequently. read more

The space is cute, albeit loud. We had a four top, space between tables is good which is nice. Our server was pleasant but appeared largely uninterested. The food was meh...I had a gnocchi dish with mushrooms that had an odd brownish cheese sauce. The gnocchi were good but the dish didn't work. Ordered meatballs, hoping the creamy polenta base would be lovely...it wasn't. Clearly the polenta was either premade and refrigerated or sliced off a log. Lumpy and coarse it lacked consistency one would expect with the description of creamy. Meatballs were ok, dense and on salty side. My companions had better meals, with scallops that were cooked nicely. Overall, for the price point, we had higher expectations. It's not on our return list. read more

I was recently solo traveling in Bar Harbor and was just not in the mood for another lobster roll. Italian food sounded really good this particular evening, and Porcelli's just happened to be right next door to my hotel. Score! I made a reservation for one but that wasn't really necessary on this particular Sunday evening in September. There were several patrons but it wasn't overly busy. I was given a four-top table which I was grateful for so I could spread out my Acadia maps and plan out my next few days. (It's a bit dark in the restaurant but I wasn't going to be *that* person and pull out my flashlight...) I ordered myself a glass of red wine, focaccia bread, and decided on the lobster tortellini appetizer, despite avoiding lobster, as already mentioned. My waitress let me know I could increase the number of tortellini so that it would be entree size. It was so amazing! The sauce was a sun-dried tomato sauce which was a great complement. The portion size was just was I was looking for. I can now attest lobster tortellini is better than lobster rolls. Great restaurant in Bar Harbor on Main Street! Very cute place a ways south on main in Bar Harbor. Authentic Italian and everything was great. Meatballs were very tender...veal? Caesar had an unusual column presentation wrapped in jicama. Lightly dressed and didn't need it. Focaccia was epic and the olive oil was meaty. Osso bucco was a little dry but the sauce and polenta with it was amazing. Bolognas was amazing Fun, classic Italian interior with music that put me back in the godfather. Service was good. Go. read more

My wife and I dined at Porcelli's for our one year wedding anniversary. We made a reservation and were promptly seated upon arrival. The team at Porcelli's was prompt and polite. Porcelli's is located just a block or so beyond the highest trafficked area, which lends to a more peaceful dining experience. My wife ordered the artichoke ravioli and I ordered the penne alla aragoata. We also ordered blueberry garden mule mocktails and a side of focaccia. The focaccia was reasonably priced at $5. The mocktails were excellent, though pricey. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Our only minor detraction from Porcelli's follows a current trend in Italian restaurants; having to pay for bread and/or salads. It used to be near ubiquitous to receive bread for the table, at a minimum, and very common to receive a small side salad or cup of soup. These additions would have pushed our experience to the top, though we still highly recommend stopping by! read more

I was traveling with family and we found this Italian place just scrolling through Google so we came here for dinner. They seated us upstairs and everything we ordered were amazing! We did the focaccia as appetizer and it was phenomenal! My partner did the bolognese and I'm usually not a huge fan of it but somehow I really liked his dish more than mine! The chef was so nice to make me Seafood risotto even though it wasn't on the menu anymore! They said it was a seasonal menu item and they had just switched menu, but I said I saw the risotto on the menu which led me into coming here so the chef made it just for me that night! Super sweet and lovely people at this place! I cannot comment on the hospitality here especially when the food is another huge plus on top of it! My dad loved the seafood linguine even though we literally had seafood every day cause why not since we're in Maine! My mom really enjoyed her carbonara, but kept eating off my partner's bolognese which was super funny! Overall, this place is very solid and I can't stop recommending this place to my friends when they visit Bar Harbor! Had a fantastic dinner here. Pasta was very fresh and full of flavor, and the drinks were great. My wife and I had the Bolognese and Pasta de'Aragosta. Bolognese was bright and very tasty. Pasta de'Aragosta was rich and creamy. Highly recommend eating here! Our only critical comment was that the Tiramisu Tart was disappointing. It was not a traditional tiramisu with soft lady finger cookies, rather they were still hard and the rest mostly tasted just like whipped cream and chocolate with little to no coffee flavor. After days of eating the obiligatory lobster and other seafood at many meals, we were longing for something different and we always enjoy Italian, so this place sounded perfect. We were easily able to get a reservation on a Sunday night and the weather was perfect to sit on their beautiful deck facing Main Street. Our server, Ben, was delightful and helped contribute to a fun evening. We started our meal with the Baby Kale Caesar, Focaccia and Orecchiette and we enjoyed them all. I particularly loved the big parmesan crisp on the salad. For my entree, I went for the Cacio E Pepe. Somehow I was blissfully ignorant of this dish until about a year ago, but I've had it several times since then and this was one of the best. My backup choice was the Penne Alla Vodka, but my daughter got that and she said it was excellent. My wife's go-to pasta is Bolognese and she really liked the dish here. Had high expectations but was just ok. The service was great. Excellent wine. My son loved his bolognese. My seafood linguine was very bland. My other sons osso bucco was excellent and my husbands pollo over pesto gnocci was good. I wish I read how the baby kale Caesar wrap was made, because I preferred a more traditional style. read more

A tough review. The people and service were fantastic. The food was hit or miss. Focaccia was delicious but the bean spread didn't work. My friend had the penne alla vodka and the sauce was super thick and red missing that perfect, glossy, orange sheen of a beautifully rich vodka sauce. I went with the piccata. Lemon caper sauce was great but the chicken needed to be seared at a higher heat to get some color on the dredge. Without brown on the flour, it became a bit of a soupy, gummy mess. We enjoyed a lovely dinner here with friends on a Saturday summer night in Bar Harbor. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, sweet music had Godfather vibes, but wasn't overdone, just loud enough in the background to make you smile. The food was the real star. We started with lobster tortellini for the table. Just enough for one bite each. I ordered the halibut, and it was so nicely seared and crisply finished on top, and sweet and juicy. It was served on veg with a tomato beurre blanc sauce and cooked just to perfection. Hubby ordered the duck special and loved it. Our friend ordered the seafood risotto and really enjoyed it. The friend cannot eat onions and garlic ( what a shame ) and the chef was able to do that and still make a tasty dish. Desert was ice cream for one of us, and flourless chocolate cake for another. Best Italian food on the island. The atmosphere invites adults and perhaps older children on porch deck. I feel like this is casual fine dining. Try the baby kale salad with a lemony dressing and the bolognese. Only a couple of notes was okay service, the bolognese was heavy with less papperdelle (I prefer a larger pasta to meat ratio) and the Asiago crouton on my salad was unchewable (rubbery). It seems to be a new restaurant so given time it will be perfect! Other than that the flavors were wonderful. We'd definitely return on our next visit. read more

We had a late dinner at Porcelli's, 7:45 on a Saturday night. Restaurant was quite full and immediately realized that in our area of the restaurant, a large party was seated. Our waiter came and took a drink order and ordered wine by the glass. The wine must have been sitting and was very oxidized. Meals were average and very salty. Not all bad, the Duck was quite good. We were greeted by an unpleasant woman and asked if we had a reservation when we requested a table for two. We told her that we did not. She seated us on a side patio where we were the only diners. Great experience from beginning to end. Place has a great atmosphere and vibe, we were celebrating our anniversary and they did it special for us. Our server Ben was very personable and professional, he gave us great recommendations and we enjoy every single bite. We started with focaccia and marinated olives, then we had the house salad, super fresh and full of flavor, and for main course we ordered Gnocchi and orecchiette and both dishes were phenomenal. $$$. OMG, probably the worst excuse for an Italian restaurant. The Crudo and Arugula Salad were good, but the Osso Buco and the Halibut was truly awful. The Osso Buco with Polenta were so salty that it wasn't edible and it looked like it had been under the heat lamp for quite sometime. The fish came with a supposedly traditional sauce that was more like a soup, and for some unknown reason they added mustard and a ton of butter to the soup/sauce. We mentioned all of this to the wonderful waitress and she said the manager would make up for it with free dessert, so we ordered a Tiramisu that was nothing more than Miracle Whip over some kind of Entenmann sponge cake with cocoa powder on top. read more

What an overpriced, uber-disappointing place. The salad was very good; I'll give 'em that. We also ordered gnocchi and broiled halibut. The gnocchi contained -- count 'em -- a grand total of eight pieces. An entree fit for a mouse. The halibut was grossly overcooked, hard to cut, and had an extremely salty crust. Just ridiculous. We decided not to make a fuss and send it back. But it did suck; that's the only word that comes to mind. Couple of other things. - The restaurant was very un-crowded, and yet the wait time for our meal was about 45 minutes. We were joking that they must have chartered a fishing boat and gone out to sea to catch a halibut! - The restaurant does not use table cloths or placemats. It's disconcerting to have your silverwear resting right on the table not knowing its state of cleanliness. - We paid $131 for a tiny, bad, and ultra-slow meal. Now that is just plain unreasonable. (The waitress was courteous and attentive; not her fault.) I would be surprised if a restaurant like this stays in business for long. Gordon Ramsay would have a field day with them! read more

Porcelli's is such a hidden gem! The staff is super friendly and professional and the ambience is very relaxed and cozy! I started off with the kale Caesar which was a generous portion and absolutely delicious and for my main meal I got the half portion of Orecchiette (would definitely recommend getting the full) and my husband started off with the soup of the day (which was a cauliflower soup) and for his main he got the Bolognese! Everything was so delicious and satisfying! We were both very happy with our experience and will be back whenever we visit Bar Harbor again! read more

As someone who absolutely loves risotto, I always make a point to try it whenever it's on the menu. At Porcelli, I tried the mushroom risotto, and it was incredible. The presentation was great, and the first bite was unbelievable. The rice melted in my mouth, and the mushrooms were perfectly cooked--nicely flat-fried and not gooey. Very much enjoyed sitting on the deck on a beautiful night, enjoying some wine and their delicious mussels. The halibut was nicely prepared and delicious, as were the pastas (the bolognese, cacio e pepe, and the ravioli). Fantastic olive oil cake to bring it all home. Service was friendly and attentive.
