Had a nice anniversary dinner here - elevated, chic space, good food, and top notch service. The mushrooms in the mushroom tart were very good and the bone marrow had an unctuous beefy sauce with cubes of short rib on top. Strong starters. Scallops looked beautiful and were cooked perfectly, but the dish came out nearly cold. As someone who cares about food temp, this was a bit disappointing. My partner really liked his short rib which had a generous cut of meat. And the "so we're clear" cocktail had a beautiful blue iceball that looked like a marble. Overall the food was good with beautiful presentation. Our server was attentive and charismatic. We stopped in Brasserie Lebrun for dinner. We did not have a reservation, but they were able to seat us at the long table in the center of the restaurant (I believe where those without reservations can sit). The decor is very attractive with navy blue and white. Our server was very nice. My wife ordered the Frenched Breast Chicken (roast chicken with the skin on). I ordered the Short Rib Bourguignon with a seasonal salad. The salad arrived quickly. It was different than I expected, but I was pleasantly surprised by the flavors and the burrata (?) cheese. It was very good. Our meals came a little later, and my wife's was just right, but for mine, our server had ordered a halibut for me instead of the short ribs. We had a little wait while they fixed the error. When the short rib arrived, it was excellent! Tender and tasty. The mashed potatoes were excellent as well. The plate was finished off with a few vegetables and some lardons (crispy chunks of bacon). We enjoyed our meal, but it took a while to get the check, and then it took a while for the server to pick up the check. We were finally able to pay and were on our way. If not for the delays and the wrong entree, this would easily be a 4 or 4.5 (if that were possible). read more

This place is fantastic. First off, the decor is modern meets retro high-end New England and I loved the rich blue and gold/brass color combo. Our server, Patrick came right out with the recommendations and they were spot on! I ordered the oysters to start and I think they may be the freshest, best-tasting oysters I've ever had. I ordered the mushroom gnocchi plus scallops. These were the best scallops I've ever eaten for sure. They were like silk. That's the only way I can describe them. The gnocchi was cooked perfectly and it wasn't as "heavy" as some gnocchi I've had. Sauce and mushrooms were also 10/10. My husband ordered the filet and said it was a great cut of meat and he also loved the potatoes. Ordered an old fashioned as well which was good. We came to this place on our last night in Bar Harbor. Walked in and noticed the communal table in the middle which I thought was really cool. The service was great - we had an earlier reservation but they were able to seat us immediately. Ordered the oysters because it's the thing to do in Maine...and they tasted amazing! We both ordered the NY strip steak frites which was great...except for the fact that they overcooked mine. Luckily our server was on top of it and immediately took it back to the kitchen and had it cooked again. The Bordeaux wine we got also paired well with the food. My mom and I decided to dine here for dinner on our first night in Maine and were very happy with everything we had to eat. Our server, Charli, was outgoing, polite and had a lot of knowledge on the food items. She recommended the oysters that are locally harvested and these were by far the best oysters I've ever had. I eat a lot of oysters living in South Florida, but these were so fresh and perfectly salty from the ocean water. The apple mignonette that comes with them is sooo delicious and pairs sooo nicely with the briney taste of the oysters. We also had their version of a french onion soup, onion soup gratinee, and it's like an elevated version of the classic. It has more of a tomato-ish broth in my opinion, but was absolutely delicious. It was really hard to pick a main course because we wanted to try everything off the menu, but we went with the mushroom gnocchi and scallops panzanella. Again, DELICIOUS. I loved how thinly sliced the mushrooms were because they incorporated so well with the gnocchi and sauce. The scallops were perfectly cooked and paired nicely with the fresh, lightly cooked vegetables. Absolutely loved our experience at this restaurant. We even came back a second night for another glass of that gorgeous bubbly with another appetizer. The wine list is absolutely stunning. I personally sold French wine for years and this was one of the most gorgeous wine lists I've ever seen. I absolutely loved how many options were by the glass. Two gorgeous bubbly options by the glass, a brut rosé and a dry chenin. The foie gras appetizer was delicious, the second night we came back and had the escargots. Our entrées were also delicious. My fiancé had the halibut and I had the duck. Again, both so delicious, the servings overall are a really nice size! Sometimes at French restaurants, the servings can be quite small, but these were nice portions. The service was top-notch and our server was in incredibly attentive. There are so many choices in BH in the summer... at the high end, Lebrun may be the most expensive. They act like it. The quality is certainly "above average" but get that wallet open... finally it just doesn't work. The steak was "ok".... The salmon smelled like fish (a salmon no-no)... the herb butter and bread were stand-outs... the wines are marked up far too high... this is Havanas "sister"... go there instead... still a wallet killer, but at least then you'll die with a smile on your face. read more

We were in Bar Harbor for 5 days. We ate at different places everyday. We stumbled on Brasserie Lebrun and my girlfriend wanted to try it. We went in with no reservations and they sat us at the communal table. We had a bone marrow app that was outstanding. Then for the main course she had the lobster tail stuffed with crab and I had an amazing fish dish. We both agreed that it was the best restaurant we went to there. Everything was cooked perfectly, presentation was perfect and the staff was really nice. We both loved the atmosphere, music wasn't too loud and was classy but still casual. Expansive bar, white tablecloths but also central communal table--perfect blend of special but not too fancy. They seated us promptly even though we showed 10 minutes early. Very well staffed and professionally staffed. Bartender was very pleasant as I was scoping it out. Decent wine list from reasonably priced to expensive. Since we had a 1 year old, we hurried process and still got excellent service and excellent food. If you want a top notch meal and have eaten enough lobster rolls, and can't go to Rosalie's for a good cheap pizza again, this was by far the best meal we ate in Bar Harbor and my daughter thought it was the best steak frites she had ever had. read more

My wife and I went for dinner during our first anniversary week. We are so glad we did! The food was absolutely amazing. I got the lobster bisque as my appetizer, and as a chowder/bisque snob, I can say it was hands down one of the best I had this summer. My wife had the seasonal salad, which had watermelon, feta, and avocado, and she absolutely loved that as well. Our entrees were even better. They had my favorite steak preparation, au poivre, and it was up there with one of the best steaks I ever had. My wife, a vegetarian, got the mushroom gnocchi, and she loved that too, and since I got to finish it, I can vouch for it as well. On top of the amazing food, the service was exemplary. Our waiter, Mark, was attentive, kind, funny, knowledgeable, and pointed us in the right direction for our choices whenever we needed assistance, especially when we couldn't decide on dessert. More accurate rating is 4.8/5. The bread is very straightforward, just the smell of wheat flour. The butter is special. The appetizer - braised ox tail is the best of the night, complex and integrated in both texture and flavor. The sherry gastrique makes the braised ox tail has extra sweetness, and you may feel "that's enough" in the second or third spoon of any sweet meat, the pine nuts helped to avoid this issue. The nuts also help you finish the rest smashed potato on the plate without feeling boring. The short ribs and scallops are also good. Something special about their Brussels sprouts is the selection of the similar small size, and the apricot pieces also adds a special highlight to it (sweet like any other regular Brussels sprouts, but you will remember this dish particular for the apricot).
