A cute French restaurant tucked away in the scenic city of Camden. This restaurant is surrounded by other fabulous restaurants (mainly seafood and American). You're not exactly coming to the area for French food, but La Cave is worth the visit. Apparently there is live music on Fridays and Saturdays. We were at opening and left before 6:30pm, so we didn't get any music (though the playlist they were playing while we were there was super enjoyable!) We order as a large group so we were able to try a number of different items. Everything was very good, below you'll find each item and it's individual score: 1) Duck Fat Fries with Garlic Aioli sauce (4.5/5...we wish the garlic aioli sauce was more garlicky, it was basically just mayonnaise) 2) Oysters Rockefeller (5/5....fantastic, should've done two orders of this!) 3) French Onion Soup (5/5...loved this!) 4) Bowl of Beef Bourguignon with mashed potatoes (4/5 beef was salty, a cup on top of the mashed potatoes would've been perfect) 5) Duck Confit (4/5...tender and moist, just wished the duck had a little more flavor) 6) Mushroom Truffle Risotto (5/5...fantastic!) 7) Brie and Fig Crepe (5/5 l...also fantastic!) 8) Prosciutto, cheese and arugula Crepe (3/5...flavor was good. Problem was the prosciutto had a hard outer layer that made it impossible to cut/eat, so we had to eat it like a taco, otherwise the flavor was good).

Definitely one of the more pricey places in Camden. Very cool with the cave and the music on Saturday night. The food was great, the service was great (thank you to the manager for always checking in). The beef tartare was huge. It made it through 3 meals. And I SO appreciate that they had gluten free crackers for me. The duck confit was very tasty, although the skin could have been much crispier, especially if they'd plated it differently so it wasn't touching the amazing mashed potatoes (super silky).

Dinner for three on a week night in August. We were seated inside along side other diners along a long wall. Our dining neighbors were really close, too close. Music from the jazz trio was nice but very loud (even too loud for our 30 y.o. Daughter) and we were seated pretty far away from the band. Service was ok but we found it odd that 3 of us were seated at a 4 top and the 4th place setting was never taken away. Our empty cocktail glasses stayed with us all evening, even when we put them over with the 4th place setting. Food was good, which saved the place for me. Not so good- the $25pp advance charge to our cc, there is a 48 hr cancel requirement. Be sure to tip your server correctly as the $75 advance charge was taken off our bill before we tipped. We saw this and tipped appropriately. May try again during the off season, the food was very good.

Wow!! The Steak tartare and beef bourguignon we ordered were a 10!!! They catered to my wife's gluten and dairy allergies. Pizza by the slice late night. Super friendly and helpful staff. Old black and white movies. Even the bathrooms are a 10. Seriously one of the better dining experiences I have had in awhile. Highly recommend.

My husband and I went on an impromptu date night to Bistro La Cave in Camden during the Camden International Film Festival. It is located perfectly by the water and has outdoor seating or cozy indoor seating! We both started with dark espresso martinis that were divine! Then came the oyster Rockefeller that were warm and delicious - they had a spinach cream sauce that wasn't too overpowering. The kitchen got slammed before our entrees came out, so the waiter surprised use with a complimentary basket of bread and garlic butter! The focaccia was soo good! We ended the meal with the lobster crepes, which were PACKED with lobster and covered in this creamy sauce. When I tell you we will dream about this crepe - I mean it! Thanks to everyone at La Cave for such a gorgeous evening!

Live music on a Thursday night set the tone for a nice meal. We started with French onion soup which was perfect on an overcast evening and then had mains as well which were seasoned really well.

    Outdoor patio area.

Only stopped for cocktails. Jazz music in the background, old western movie on the TV, and espresso martinis had all around. Zack (hope that is spelled right) made an amazing espresso martini; however, went missing a few times and left us thirsty-without drinks. Lilliana (again, hope that is spelled right) was in training and able to accommodate beautifully.

Excellent new spot in town. Live performance of jazz and cool ambiance. It is a great addition to town that stays open for a long period of time! The food and service was great as well! Tony makes some awesome drinks! Highly recommended!!

It was an album release party for local pop-punk/emo band Broadwing. The card featured other local bands as well as a New England DJ. I know now that some shows at Blue are free or minimal cover which is great. Tickets for this show ended up being $12 which is a great value for a concert/night out. Hard to find tickets that cheap nowadays. The person working the door was friendly and had our name already so didn't even need to pull the tickets up. Bartenders were friendly and the drinks were well made. I especially liked their spicy cocktail Bing Bong which had the perfect kick to it! Prices were reasonable for drinks as well. Venue is on the small side as expected but had a great vibe for intimate smaller shows. Even with a sold-out show it was not overpacked. The acoustics and sound were good for a smaller venue as well. If you love smaller concerts I would recommend checking out their event schedule to see if something piques your interest. Also if you are a fan of pop punk music then do yourself a favor and check out Broadwing (especially their song New England Baby)! Very down to earth friendly band!

If I don't, there is NO current reliable information on who's scheduled. Pathetic and unreliable. I'm not doing it. I've enjoyed many evenings there, but the basic management of the venue is a joke. It will be a shame when it closes. What acts are scheduled for the NEXT WEEK? How difficult is that to maintain? Apparently, it's not possible.

I would love to know where they get the decor for this place. I'd imagine a lot of flea markets (fabulous ones)? It's hard to pick my favorite decor item because there are so many, but it's somewhere between the chairs shaped like hands and the giant silver octopus tentacle under the T.V. Ooo and the corner with all the clowns! Drinks are strong and cheap. The bartenders are friendly. There's a patio, but it's a bit small. There are plenty of comfy chairs/couches. They have live music pretty often, so if that's your thing, you'll be happy there on weekend nights. The only thing is the space is kind of small for live music, so it can get really loud. This is an excellent chill option if you're in Hallowell and want to skip bars that tend to get a bit fratty like The Quarry Taproom. Highly recommend!

They even had a Lego version of the shark popping out of the water on the concessions counter! Very charming. The seats were comfortable enough (although perhaps a bit narrow) and there were no bad views. I love that there's a balcony! The staff was super friendly and they had a great selection of concessions. The popcorn was fresh and really reasonably priced. It's a great part of the community: they host live events, screen local films, and offer screenings like Jaws. They have a movie-themed cafe next door to boot. I'd absolutely be a regular if I were local. There's no assigned seating for movie screenings, so you may want to arrive early if it's a popular showing.

The theater still has the original marquee and is lit up when active so it's easy to spot. There's parking out front and in several lots a block or so away - we didn't have any issues with finding a spot. Also, parking appears to be free after 6:00 PM (otherwise there's a 2 hour limit). We were visiting friends in coastal main and after a full day of hiking, visiting lighthouses and dinner at a local seafood joint, we decided to hit the Barbie movie at the Strand. Adult tickets were $9 which were super reasonable (in Atlanta it would have been $16, to provide a comparison). There's a ticket boot at the front to one side of the entry door and someone to tear and return the stub just inside. This is a surviving classic old theater - something you rarely see these days and from the programming appears to be quite active, both for running movie productions and for local use. It has a wonderful interior with lots of wood and a full balcony (if you haven't experienced balcony seating it's something to try - that's where we sat). Concessions were reasonable and both the theater and perhaps more importantly, the restrooms (in the basement) were very clean and well maintained. We had a great time with Barbie. The concessions were reasonable and the staff excellent - you could tell that they took great pride in the theater.
