One Longfellow Square is a small, intimate venue that I definitely recommend. If you see someone here you can count on a respectful audience that is there to listen (and not talk over) what you are listening to and there is a great laid back vibe. I've seen 3 shows there and have always been happy with the sound quality and view of the stage. Staff is friendly and they have a small 1 person manned bar for drinks and beers if you have the urge. Seating setup is 2 levels: up the stairs has a small upper level. If it was me I'd sit in the first couple of rows for best view. Overall I recommend sitting downstairs with the most seating and views of the stage (and if you prefer not to crane your neck when looking down when seated upstairs). The only reason I can't quite give 5 stars for this is although the venue is great overall, the setup for seats is foldable chairs, some which are all wood with a non padded seat that I can't say are comfortable. All in all I won't hesitate to go to other shows and highly recommend this spot. A tip: there is no dedicated parking for OLS so show up early for that on-street parking (which is free after 6 pm). Enjoy!

Great intimate venue. Nice acoustics and not a bad seat in the house.

There is a small bar if you want some libations, and they have some nice local beer selections there.

Small amount of street parking available or parking garage just down the street. Small lobby area which is where the box office is located as well. Once in you can take an elevator or the stairs to the second floor for concessions and theater access. One can enter the theater from the second floor or venture up another flight of stairs for entry towards the top of the seating area as well. Volunteer staff was great today, very friendly and helpful. Can't speak of concession as they were not open for this event. Bathrooms available in the second floor as well. Not sure how I have missed this venue with all the time spent in Portland, but don't take as long as I have see what's upcoming and experience a great time at the theater!

Taken from Ms Pugh's autobiography, but with some poetic license by the wonderful Playwright, Wendy MacLeod, it recounts scenarios from Madelyn Pugh's perspective both in and out of the writer's office. It also hits on the dynamic between all the people involved in making that show a groundbreaking hit as well as the ultimate end of the show in 1957.

It was an album release party for local pop-punk/emo band Broadwing. The card featured other local bands as well as a New England DJ. I know now that some shows at Blue are free or minimal cover which is great. Tickets for this show ended up being $12 which is a great value for a concert/night out. Hard to find tickets that cheap nowadays. The person working the door was friendly and had our name already so didn't even need to pull the tickets up. Bartenders were friendly and the drinks were well made. I especially liked their spicy cocktail Bing Bong which had the perfect kick to it! Prices were reasonable for drinks as well. Venue is on the small side as expected but had a great vibe for intimate smaller shows. Even with a sold-out show it was not overpacked. The acoustics and sound were good for a smaller venue as well. If you love smaller concerts I would recommend checking out their event schedule to see if something piques your interest. Also if you are a fan of pop punk music then do yourself a favor and check out Broadwing (especially their song New England Baby)! Very down to earth friendly band!

If I don't, there is NO current reliable information on who's scheduled. Pathetic and unreliable. I'm not doing it. I've enjoyed many evenings there, but the basic management of the venue is a joke. It will be a shame when it closes. What acts are scheduled for the NEXT WEEK? How difficult is that to maintain? Apparently, it's not possible.

It said to dress to impress for a disco, when we arrived we were greeted by a host that was there to check you off the list and make sure you paid your $120. Which covered some cocktails, cookies, fruit and finger sandwiches. The hosts stayed by the door and didn't really check to see how the party was going. There were a few streamers and balloons. No party favors or noise makers for midnight. A very small disco ball over the empty dance floor. (We thought we were early) The lights were never dimmed throughout the night so you couldn't see the disco lights. The DJ refused to play any music the guest requested for the Disco effect and got upset when asked. People complained and left by 10:30pm. The DJ was terrible and kept his head down and continued playing through the stroke of midnight with the few remaining guest counting down on their own, when he finally realized it he played some lame new year's celebration music too late. It definitely was not what they advertised at all. Sorry to say someone dropped the ball that night and it wasn't the new years ball. Maybe miscommunication or lack of planning? Hopefully next year will be better for those who do go back. Happy New Year .
