Visited in mid July on a whim while camping near by. There was a line to order but moved quickly and was able to enjoy the views from a picnic table while waiting for food. It's not fancy, but it's just what a lobster place should be. We had a whole lobster, a lobster roll and onion rings. Now we have tried a lot of lobster rolls over the years but this was first time one was topped with whole claw meat. Already dreaming of a return trip well worth the wait.

Unmatched views. Delicious food. Friendly staff. What are you waiting for? Visit today!

Another 10/10 experience! We came last summer and couldn't wait to come again. It was a cloudy afternoon but the lobster rolls were excellent and we just love the casual atmosphere! Cold Maine beer, fresh lobster, friendly staff, what more could you ask for!

I think this was a fabulous stop..we were headed out of town and on a early August day with some overcast and grey menacing skies, we stopped so that I could devour a 3 lb lobster by myself..something that is easy for me to do. Lee had whole belly clams. Maybe it was an off hour, there were only a handful of other people there.. We sat out back under a huge awning, and there were self serve utensils, water and a porta potty on the side. I think fairly priced. View of the sea. Lovely visit.

I really appreciated the Gluten Free options, including a GF Lobster or Crab Quesadilla. Very friendly and clean restaurant. And dog friendly!

Enjoyed the BEST lobster of my life today at Archie's Lobster. This former lumber yard converted to a lobster house served large, succulent, moist chunks of lobster meat, along with corn on the cob and potato salad. What made this the best? A combination of freshness and softness. A lot of lobster, by the time you eat it, is tough and needs scads of butter to be tasty. At Archie's there is a generous amount of meat and it is still super tasty with or without butter. I also enjoyed the sumptuous cup of clam chowder. The atmosphere was superb - picnic tables with a sweeping view of the water and a funky aesthetic. I dug the graffiti on one of the walls, beckoning you to Archie's Lobster. Betsy, who waited on me, couldn't have been nicer. Heather, the co-owner, chatted with me afterward and answered my many questions about lobster production. I wish I had gotten to meet Troy, Heather's husband and the other co-owner, to tell him personally that his catch was the best I've had eating 40 years of lobster. Check this out if you're in the Bar Harbor area!

We come to MDI about every 3 to 5 years. This was the first time we stumbled across Archie's, it recently opened, and we love their outdoor setup along the ocean. When coming to this area you have a lot of lobster places to choose from. This one stands out with it's picnic style setup along with some magnificent ocean views. The typical lobster meal came with corn, bread, potato salad and your choice of size of lobster (price varies per market $$$). In general, it was around $20-$35 per meal based upon lobster weight. Service was great and the views were amazing. My only knock is some places offer blueberry cake with their lobstah!

We stopped by Archie's during the shoulder season in early September. It was mid afternoon and there were few customers at the unusual time we stopped, but it was clear based on seating they get quite a crowd! The location is right on the water and it gives off a vibe that is laid back and suiting for a lobster pound. I ordered a lobster roll with butter and a side of fries. A bag of chips was also included. The cost for the lobster roll is rather steep and naked vs butter vs mayo pricing doesn't seem to make sense given the minimal cost per roll, but there was a generous amount of lobster for the size of the roll. The flavor was fairly mild, but it was clear it was fresh. The claws were of course a touch sweeter and packed more flavor. Overall, if you enjoy a lobster roll I recommend Archie's.

Gem found by accident. Like we were Family !!! Drove down to another Lobster place (that was CLOSED) and found this Gem. Super nice family run Lobster Pound - with Picnic tables outside on Bass Harbor. So laid back and glad we found. The staff was awesome and very attentive. SHOUT OUT TO Kacey. She took the time and showed us how to get everything out of the Lobster. She came back a few more times to make sure we were good. SO NICE and fun to talk to. Like we were Family. There was Corn Hole and other games too. Thank you ARCHIE's - we will be back.

Loved the outdoor atmosphere! Right on the water, toys for the kids, picnic tables along with tables and chairs. The lobster roll was fresh, bun slightly toasted and good fries too! Would definitely come here again. We went on a Monday in Sept around 4-430 and we got right in and fast service. Started to pick up as we were leaving.

Incredibly cheap and big lobsters with all fixings on the shore in Bass Harbor. You have to bus your own table but it's worth it!

I ordered the "mussel dinner," which included 1lb of mussels with corn on the cob, cole slaw, hot dinner roll, and blueberry cake for $17.50. This is an excellent price for everything aforementioned! It was more than I could finish in one sitting for lunch. I enjoyed the steamed mussels, which were naturally sweet and easy to eat from the shell. There was no sand/grit as far as I could tell, and the mussels looked and tasted very fresh. I appreciated the roll was served hot in aluminum foil, and the corn and slaw were both tasty and prepared expertly. The blueberry cake was essentially a moist and not-too-sweet coffee cake. The restaurant is "cafeteria style". Once you enter, customers will make their order at the counter and pay the cashier (cash and credit are both accepted). You will receive a table number and it is self-seating with options both inside and outside. On windier days, it's highly recommended to sit inside: we saw folks struggling with the sun umbrellas the day we visited. The restaurant abuts the water, so you'll get a great view either way.

After very long and drawn out deliberation, I decided to try the English Toffee flavor and my wife got the Dragon's Blood soft serve flavor. Both were so good but that Dragon's Blood was out of this world!! I had never had the flavor before and it blew my mind. We also got fries to make sure we made it home to eat and they were the best fries we had in Maine for our entire trip and my wife LOVES fries so that's a very nice compliment. We almost ordered a second serving. There is plenty of covered seating outside but no inside seating so it gave a well catered picnic vibe. I will say it was hard for us to find because the map didn't realize where it was. We had to drive around a bit to find it but it's next to the gas station/convenience store that Maps takes you to. I would absolutely go out of my way to go to Seaside Dairy Bar the next time we're in Maine. It's well worth it!

But if you want honest food at today's prices, pull up a chair. The lobster roll was a revelation. Not that mayonnaise-based lobster purée somebody scraped out of a tub and smeared onto a bun that had been sitting around since the Carter administration. This was real chunks of lobster, lightly seasoned, piled onto a fresh roll and left alone to taste like lobster. Then came the steamers. Sweet mercy. Those steamers were the best thing I have tasted since 1974, and I'm not entirely sure what happened in 1974, but apparently somebody knew how to steam a clam. The service was excellent--friendly, attentive and without the usual modern-day restaurant ritual of wondering whether your server has forgotten you exist. The décor? Let's just say aging fish camp chic. If you're looking for polished brass and a chandelier imported from France, keep driving. If you want the feeling that somebody might walk in carrying a cooler full of flounder, you're home. For the love of all that is holy, give this place a try. Come hungry. Leave happy.
