Rating: 4.3 Came to try this local restaurant for lunch as we were passing by the area from acadia. It's a small local sandwich/soup place. They have small parking space on the side of the brick building. Inside is a small space but has some seats, tables and counter to place your order. They do have outside seatings as well. The person running the front which i assume was the owner was very nice and attentive. We got the brick buoy, the bricklayer's catch, lobster bisque and the holy donut. The brick buoy was a toast with lobster salad on it. It was small portion but was tasty. The bricklayer's catch was like grilled cheese with some lobster meat. It was good but i feel like it could have been elevated if there were with mixed cheese like smoked Gouda and mozzarella or some more addition like onions, peppers and mushrooms and such. The lobster bisque was creamy, flavorful with hint of bitterness. You also get a toast to dip with which pairs well with soup. Would have liked some veggies or lobster meat in it but for the price it was still good. Service was excellent. The workers were very nice and attentive. I can tell that they really care about the place and even have a sign on the table to let them know about any complaints to make it right for the customers. Overall the place was good and it's nice to see local restaurant that cares about what they do and how they treat their customers. Only thing is that they still have some room to improve regarding to their food offerings. However i know that it's a newer place and who knows, their other menu may have been better. Either way I hope that they continue to provide excellent service and strive for polishing their menu. read more

We're visiting Bar Harbor for a few days on our voyage along Maine's coast. We're staying at a hotel in Ellsworth and we saw a listing for Brick House Soups and decided to give them a try. And we're glad we did! My spouse had the lobster bisque, which she proclaimedas the best lobster bisque she has ever had. I had the Bricklayer's Melt which was an amazingly gooey grilled cheese on sourdough. Being a grilled cheese fanatic, I was blown away by theirs. Gooey is the key word! Found out while we were there that the red brick building is the original Ellsworth High School, which they are working on restoring into an events destination. I give Brick House Soups two thumbs up! Cant wait until we return to Maine so we can go back! read more

Bagel Central bagels in Ellsworth! What a treat!! I also tried the Downeast Potatoes (salt & vinegar style), and they were good. My only criticism is that the menu is heavy on the butter and light on the veggies. Consider adding salads? read more

Quaint little establishment that knows their soups. We're vacationing up in Maine and saw this place and decided to stop and it was the best decision we could've made. Parking was a bit strange and off to the side though I had the breakfast sandwich and tomato soup with toast and my fiancé had the soup flight of Broccoli Cheddar, Hungarian Mushroom and Tomato soup and a grilled cheese. I stopped at this new spot for the first time yesterday. I was wanting clam chowder and saw they had a clam and corn chowder. The place is very nice inside and the service was excellent. However, though it might suit many people, the soup was not what I was hoping for. The pepper taste probably from the Mexican street corn overwhelmed the clams. I like clam-forward chowder. The herby toast that came with the soup was delicious. I will go back and try some other dishes. Maybe the tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwich would be to my liking. read more

I was Very disappointed with their hygiene!! The cook who started my eggs, went out to pick up trash in the lobby, then- headed back to finish the eggs. His 10 year old daughter had been doing something on the floor, then used her hands to put the tinfoil in the container. No one washed their hands until I requested the cook to do so, before finishing my order. Dissent food, but Very prone to a bug due to Very Poor hygiene!!! I do not recommend this place, unless you desire to get Sick on your trip!!! If I could leave this place 100 stars I would! We stumbled across this gem on vacation and I would come back just for more. The brick house melt is perfect and paired with the clam and corn chowder, it's the perfect comfort meal. Flavors were excellent! I'm sure all the other soups are just as good and service was great! This might be my new favorite place on earth. After a long day of hiking, me and my friends were ravenous and in desperate need of something quick and warming. We all decided that soup sounded pretty good, so we came here. Oh my god! We had the lobster bisque, chicken noodle, clam chowder, plus sandwiches and Cajun potatoes to share between us. My expectations for soup have been forever ruined. How can I go back to Cambells after experiencing true soup Nirvana? I simply can't.
