The store is huge (the largest Ace in MD) and the staff went above and beyond to help me out. I showed up in the middle of a rain storm without an umbrella to buy a pile of power tools. Rather than call me out for my poor planning. The staff very generously helped me figure out a way to get my new purchases to my car without getting them wet. This may sound minor, but when was the last time someone at a store went out of their way like this. I didn't even have to ask. Seriously can't say enough positive stuff about the team here.

Also, it's nice to support local businesses even with small purchases. Since Pets Are Home probably doesn't have the backing of a multi-million dollar corporation, the store is a bit smaller compared to your typically PetSmart and Petco spots. However, Pets Are Home definately has more charm than the two places that I mentioned. Overall, I thought the staff were super friendly and helpful. While I probably will not visit too frequently, I definitely hope to drop by from time to time to load up on some fun treats and speciality doggie biscuits for our pup. One slight inconvenience, which is not the fault of the store, the parking is bit tight in this small shopping center. *The parking situation seems to be a bit of a problem in this area.* So it might be best to visit during off peak hours.

Absolutely recommend!!…read more About a week after buying a known 'quality' food on 'A**zon' online from an unknown seller, my cat began having "episodes" that the Vet DXed as as Seizures. Scared the spirit right out of me! The DX was a best guess and could NOT be verified by the Dr unless we went to neurologist bc as all his labs came back normal & the Vet didn't witness the episodes. They were happening after his b-fast & dinner & although the Vet INSISTED on Seizure meds & stated (with an attitude) that "food will NOT make a difference", I couldn't help but think that the food change could be bad & affecting him. I also read that low Taurine can cause the same issues in cats that mine was experiencing so I popped in this store, nervous & stressed, and the gent who offered to help me on a Monday morning, spent a great deal of time understanding what was going on, listening to my concerns with compassion & understanding, while being clear to state that he's not a Vet, he shared that Taurine comes from organ meat. I was ready to buy everything but he suggested to only make 1 change at a time to know if it's effective. He made a recommendation on food & treats w/organ meat and suggested to monitor & if all goes well, come back for a 2nd visit once we know the changes are effective to consider adding CBD, a multi supplement and wet food. The changes WORKED!! This guy KNEW their products & ingredients (said he worked in another locally run store for 9yrs I think), understands animals, & aren't going to oversell you because they truly care!
