I encountered this stand at the Kentlands Farmers Market on Main Street and sidled up next to a dog owner as they were in a conversation about pet treats with the woman and gentleman at the stand.
Come to find out that the company is all about no fillers, no additives, and they use no corn, wheat, or soy in any of their foods or treats.
I almost immediately saw that they have freeze dried treats and started asking a few questions about what they use in them and the company in general.
The woman working there was as friendly and knowledgeable as could be. My dog has a stomach that is as sensitive as my very annoying knob on my shower - a tiny turn to the right it's ice cold water... a tiny turn to the left... it's boiling lava hot water.
My dogs stomach is pretty much the same way with food, treats, you name it. So I've been on the hunt for high value treat to train her with. And after speaking with someone from Loyal Companion about a month ago, wound up on these freeze dried lamb treats which don't seem to upset her stomach thank G-d.
Pet Wants has freeze dried liver treats... and guess what the ingredients are: liver.
That's it!
Pure as pure could be. Totally the type of treats I was looking for.
The size of the bag was generous too for what you were paying. And the treats cut up perfectly to become small 1/4 inch size rewards for training.
I also spoke with her about her foods, because Toast is on RX dog food right now and she seems to be not as jazzed about it as she used to be.
The woman at the stand told me all about the manufacturing process of large dog food plants and how the food can be almost a year old. Pet wants apparently specializes in making food that's super fresh. I think she said that if the food is older than a month or so they don't even sell it. They donate it to the human society... which is pretty amazing. Hard business model... but if you can make it work - more power to you!
Looking forward to trying out some more things from the stand. The company really seems like it has some integrity about the quality of the products they sell and the freshness of those products.
Since French Toast is already a princess... might as well feed her and treat her like one lol. read more
