Small store but great selection! They also support a local horse rescue which I volunteer at so I'm a bit biased. They always have great customer service, they are ordering a pair of boots for me since they didn't' have my size in stock, very nice of them to do that. They pre-warned me that my boots would take a little bit longer since the supplier is closed for a short term but I appreciate them giving me that advanced warning. The place is small & unassuming, but they have a lot of stuff, and a wide variety. The staff is friendly and conversational. The prices are expected, theres a lot of items you cant get anywhere else. Stablemates has a wonderful selection for its size and courteous, knowledgeable staff. They will do small tack repairs for you and really try to get your orders in, whereas the big online stores don't even care. Good value and cater to beginners as well as experienced owners., and a wide variety of disciplines. The family that owns this have supported local equestrian events and clubs for decades. Highly recommend them, especially their tent sales. read more

I absolutely love some of the staff here, and really do not care for others. I try really hard to support local businesses, especially when they offer quality products comparable to bigger box stores. However, unless I am dealing with certain staff (namely the younger brunette and the older dressage gal, they are both wonderful), the service is deplorable. I understand bad days, but I have had too many repeat experiences that are increasingly dissuading me from returning. Attitude on the phone when you call to ask a status on an order, flippant or rude comments from the younger girls, judgmental comments if you are uneducated with respect to a certain item, or otherwise acting pretentiously. I have spent hundreds at this store, but frequently I am treated as if my requests are unreasonable (like asking for an estimate on an item needed for a post-surgery horse). I have tried time and time again to shop here hoping for better experiences, but sadly, the customer service consistently leaves a sour taste in my mouth. I would recommend Anytime Tack in Spencerville if you are looking for equally nice products with great service. They offer barn discounts for certain barns, have frequent sales, and carry lines running the gamut from ultra affordable to pricier high-end. Management/owners, I sincerely hope you read this review and consider implementing some "kindness" training or even terminating some of your poorer performers. I have plenty of barn girlfriends that refuse to shop at your establishment because of bad experiences. Without some changes, I'm sure myself and many others will soon follow suit. read more

I have been here a few times. The first time was a few years ago and was just for clothes and a helmet. They had the helmet in stock and the clothes (for kids) were found on the sale rack. The girl helped me fit my child for the helmet and was very kind and patient. This time which was about a month ago was totally different. It was there for half chaps, a helmet and some pant. Firstly, she didnt even offer to fit my child for the helmet, secondly, she completely and rudely steered me away from the sale shelf, and then was impatiently fitting my child for halfchaps! I ended up ordering the helmet and when it came in, it was the wrong size! The only thing that was worth coming for were the toys I got the kids for putting up with such a rude person! I doubt i will ever go back considering, every single thing i needed there i either got on Amazon or at another tack store. read more
