Delicious!! My first introduction to TP Tea was their location in Sunnyvale. I wasn't a fan, but I've stopped by the Cupertino shop twice in the last 3-4 weeks. Their tea actually tastes like tea, but not overpowering. Even with a busier line, the drinks come out fairly fast. I've only tried their Taiwan milk tea with all the works, but it's just so good! My friends and I wanted to get a drink on a Sunday after lunch and knew this shop would be pretty busy so we decided to place on order online before heading over. When we placed the order, we got an estimated wait time of 20 minutes. However, when we arrived, we got notified that our wait time is now 30 minutes. They have a big screen showing order numbers inside and estimated wait times. We waited for around 30 minutes before noticing that the estimated time for our number on screen was now increasing instead of decreasing. So we go up and ask and apparently our drinks have been done for a long time with our ice quickly melting in our drink. My friend and I both ordered their popular tie guan yin milk tea with boba and after a few spots we both agreed that boba was way too hard. Perhaps it was because our drinks were don't for so long and had gotten hard. We decided to ask if they could remake our drinks and the staff were very nice to remake them. But sadly the new boba was just as bad. I guess that's just how they make their boba now.. This is one of my go-to milk tea spots at the moment. It can get pretty busy but the parking lot is spacious. I usually order ahead of time, so the wait time is not an issue for me. There's also a kiosk inside where you can place your order. My current favorites are the mango tea latte and the mango matcha latte. I haven't tried any of their snacks yet, so I can't comment on them yet. I do wish I could customize the sweetness level on some of their other drinks. Overall, it's a solid spot for milk tea. 6.22.2024 Craving popcorn chicken. And got my popcorn chicken fix! Super busy and the order doesn't seem to stop. Easy to find parking, but not easy to find seats. Not enough seating areas which was a bummer. Orders were taking a standard 20 - 25 minutes. That's pretty long for one drink and one popcorn chicken. The black tea with cheese crema was ok. The tea looked strong, but it wasn't as strong as it looked. So it ended up tasting more watered down. The highlight was the popcorn chicken. Good size, good spice kick, fresh basil and the best part - the chicken didn't have any weird after taste. Often times, when chicken is not handled properly or seasoned properly, it always has that weird chicken funk that makes me feel gnarly. But this place wasn't like that at all! Been a while since I visited this store; there is some seating indoors and a few tables outdoors but most orders seem to be to-go. The interior is very white, and boxes or supplies stacked along the wall behind the counter were visible and rather unsightly. (They are hidden by a curtain so you won't see them unless you are close to or at the counter.) I ordered the Tie Guan Tin (鐵觀音) Milk Tea, 30% sugar, regular ice. Next time I will try 0% to see how sweet the milk is. The milk seems to be consistent for their stores, with not as fat as I would prefer. Tea taste was fine. I tried the popcorn chicken at the spicy level this time. The chicken itself was cooked properly, but the spice was splashed across the top layer of chicken and the chicken was unevenly seasoned as a result, with some pieces very spicy and others not spicy at all. It was almost as if they forgot to do it and tried to correct in the most lazy way possible, with the popcorn chicken already in the box instead of placing the pieces in a moxing bowl and doing the mixing in there. Definitely worth requesting a redo but I didn't have time. This time the popcorn chicken was served with a lot of cooked basil but the pieces themselves didn't have much of a basil taste. If I order it at this store again I may just order it mild instead of taking a chance on who is in the kitchen. I had been hoping that everything would go well with the experience for this review but unfortunately... Overall the experience was rather impersonal, order at the kiosk or through the internet (QR code is posted at the counter), pick up your order when your number is called by the computer. While the store was busy when I was there, I suspect this is the rather normal way things are done. Some may only care about the drink etc. or like this sort of impersonal purchasing process. I had some interaction with one of the people working there only because I picked up my order while she was still the counter prepping orders. The workers do respond or answer questions when approached. I didn't take any stars off for this general lack of human interaction because, as I said earlier, some people may actually like this way of doing things or prefer it. It has such a strong strawberry flavor (THAT ISNT ARTIFICIAL) but it doesn't mask the tea flavor so you still get both flavors!!! It's an icy semi blended type drink so it's almost like a shake but not that creamy????? You just have to try it once! Tie guan yin (latte/milk tea) is also one of the popular drinks here and it would be my second go to. Super solid tea flavor and very consistent. Other honorable mentions are the fantastic fruit tea (pictured), mango passion smoothie, winter melon tie guan yin oolong. Popcorn chicken: i LOVE their popcorn chicken!!! I think they give a decent amount and the fry on the chicken is 10/10, flavor 10/10, dusting of spicy powder 10/10!!! Always hits the spot after pickleball or just when I need a pick me up. The only possible downside is that this location can get really busy and wait times can be longgggg on weekends or busy hours. But you can also just order ahead to skip the waiting!! Came to the Cupertino location on a Sunday evening, it was busy but line and service went fast. The place was modern, well decorated, and self checkout was intuitive. I tried the Strawberry Milk Tea and Limited edition Citrus Milk Tea. Both were delicious and surprised me; both drinks were much more tea heavy than most milk teas in the Bay, yet the tea is light refreshing and not overwhelming making for a great balance with the milk and fruit flavors. I loved my strawberry milk tea which also had boba that was warm and extremely soft especially for the evening (close to 9:30 PM). The citrus milk was heavenly, it reminds me of the flavor of a Citrus Coffee drink I had in Tokyo and never had found the same milky-fresh flavor since until now. Came here on a friday night and it was packed. Arrived by 8:30, ordered by 8:40 and didnt get our order until 9:25? There was only 1 kisosk and its weird that if you choose the "for-here" option they charge you $1. But if you choose the "pick up" option they won't charge you for anything. TP Tea is one of the best boba spots in South Bay. If you are looking for good quality drinks, TP Tea should be on your list! Over the years, I've tried a decent amount of their drinks and have enjoyed basically everything I've gotten. My favorites are the Strawberry Milk Tea and the Mango Matcha Latte. The Strawberry Milk Tea is a blended ice drink, and I've never really found anything like it elsewhere - it's creamier than your typical smoothie. TP Tea's drinks taste like they are made with good ingredients, but the drinks aren't as strong in terms of the tea flavor itself. I think they're best for their milk teas and specialty drinks; I personally don't really go for their fruit teas or non-milk teas. They have some places to sit inside, but it's not a huge store. I usually just come to grab boba and then head out; it's not the best for hanging out since it can get quite loud. However, there usually are always some people sitting and chatting, so the option is always there. You can order on your phone or using the order kiosk. They are pretty popular, so I usually have to wait at least 10-15 minutes (and potentially much longer if they're extra busy) at any time in the day. I finally tried TP Tea, which I've heard friends rave about for years, and it was a reminder that different people can have widely disparate experiences and opinions because we all have different tastes! For me, TP drinks run on the milkier side, so if that's your jam, this might be your type of boba place! I tried the tie guan yin milk tea with 30% sugar and it ran a tad sweet for me, more like 50% at other places. I still prefer Boba Bliss or Sunright, which have more tea based drinks. I also got a taro milk either boba for my kids, at 50% sweetness. The lines are super long which further detracts from the experience for me, although it's obviously not their fault for being so popular!
