I came for a quick trip to Austin and decided to give this place a try, I am not sure why nail presoaking wasn't an option for me but what can I do, just sit there and let them do their job. I was not a fan of the 'dry manicure'. I chose the express mani w/ Gel Nails. Unfortunately, at the time I didn't notice that my entire right hand was not gel polished properly, if you look at the picture, you can see the dull side and unfinished side. I couldn't believe the manicurist didn't add the top coat gel polish. They reached out to me to fix the problem and offered various service recovery options, but I didn't choose one since I had to leave that same day. When I returned to the salon they acknowledged their mistake, removed the gel polished and offered a refund, so I am grateful for that. read more

Tracy is amazing! I witnessed her deal with a demanding and rude client gracefully and when I told her I had chipped my nail she told me to come in and she'd fix it! And she DID! She repaired my sns nail - instead of removing the entire thing and restarting the process. She gave me her full attention and made my nails perfect. My life has forever been changed! As someone who gets SNS nails done quite frequently (every 2-3 weeks) I spend a lot of time in nail salons. I'm also always on the hunt for a quality salon, and if you've seen some of my other yelp reviews, you know some experiences have been quite shitty. Pure Nails is a godsend, not only is Pure Nails extremely clean, sanitized, and organized, but my nail tech-- April, is a professional through and through. I'm obsessed with how she always takes the utmost care with my nails. AND as a frequent SNS gal, I'm used to an electric filer being used on my nails to remove previous color AND to buff the powder off after a fresh dip. NOT AT PURE NAILS! April always hand files and it literally makes me feel like my nails are being take care of from start to finish! Plus she shapes the nails so perfectly, I always go with almond shape and I know I'm getting exactly what I want when I visit. A happy customer through and through! Over-priced and at least one creepy, untrained staff. I should've trusted my gut - or caught them on a bad day? I made an appt, parked and walked in to a cramped and empty space. It's basically a converted one bedroom apartment, so it feels unprofessional and slap-dash. No one greeted me for a few minutes and I already had a weird vibe so I left. A lady called to check if I still wanted my appt so I felt bad and went back. A young guy greeted me this time, telling me to wash my hands in the bathroom. I'm okay with some quirk and homey vibes but everything felt a little unsanitary. A woman appeared to do my mani while the guy started on my pedi - without asking and before I realized what he was doing, he'd chopped my right toenails down to the QUICK. Why!? So short that when he tried to file them it HURT because there was no white there. Why!? It was super quiet so he turned up Lion King really loud right at that really sad part (poor timing) and kept getting distracted just watching the movie. They put a kind of dirty looking scarf over my lap because I was wearing a skirt but it didn't do anything my skirt wasn't already doing. I had to ask to turn on the "massage" chair and that was so rough I turned it off and tried to relax and asked for the Express to get out asap. So he gave the most laughable half-ass leg "massage" (like brushed his hand down my leg and tapped the side of my foot once and barely grazed my heel once with the pumice). The lady could tell I wasn't happy so she offered a "free" shoulder massage -- so the SAME guy I'm already annoyed with for destroying my toes and clearly we don't want to be touching each other comes over and starts the most awkward/uncomfortable tapping and pinching - I looked back thanking him to stop 3 times, while pulling away and asking for a fan to dry my hands and he KEPT going. Then more guests came in so there were just too many people in a too tiny space so I paid and couldn't leave fast enough. After all the great reviews, I definitely expected a better experience. Our first impression upon entering was that everything is crammed into a tiny space, and there was no place to sit while waiting for an appointment. It's a good thing there aren't many fumes, because it would be stifling inside. They seemed to want us to come back later, even though we had an appointment, so we did. I booked with a friend who had been there before, and realized afterward that there is a great disparity in the skill level of the techs. My friend had a great experience with her tech, who skillfully showed off her massage, scrubbing, and pampering chops. The woman I had pre-booked a mani/pedi with (apparently the owner) clipped and filed my nails without soaking them first, which is a huge no-no unless you're a podiatrist with a long line of elderly Medicare patients waiting for an overpriced trim. Her abrasive nail buffing technique prior to polish left me with sore, fraying cuticles for a couple of weeks afterward. The same woman was too busy to complete the pedi, because she decided to take a walk-in, and shuffled me off to an obviously brand new tech, whom I had to ask to fix several obvious things as she went along. I've never had to ask for that much before. But really, she should be able to cut nails straight and remove obvious cuticles and dry areas on skin without having to be asked. Somewhere, a beauty school teacher is shaking her head. The highest level mani-pedi they offer includes a sugar scrub and a paraffin treatment, which was nice. But this is the only salon I've been to where they have you stand over the kitchen sink and scrub your own hands and arms with the sugar scrub. Most of their polish bottles looked old, so I was glad to have brought my own. After two hours, I left feeling like I'd had a day at the beauty school, not a nail salon. Wowzer! What an unexpected delight these guys were. Booked a last minute pedi and Pure Nails were the third place I called - didn't even check the yelp reviews (sorry..!) - but the lovely Ni gave me the best pedi of my life. What a miracle worker. I'm a runner - and thus have runners feet - not remotely pretty. But after an hour in the chair I've emerged with flip flop worthy toes and super soft heels. Bonus points for not laughing / crying about my mile worn feet and less-than-lovely training calluses. And for the perfectly pitched leg massage. Mimosa's for the non-detoxers and tea for the boring ones. A great range of colours and a lovely clean feeling salon. Literally could not recommend this place or Ni more. read more

I loved the fact that this salon has a clean atmosphere and uses more natural products. My nail tech was friendly. Unfortunately, there were too many negatives, which seemed to stem from a lack of proper business management: 1. Extremely short handed, only 2 nail techs when I arrived on a FRIDAY afternoon. One of the techs had to call (who I assumed was) the owner in to help work. The girl working on me had not been able to eat all day at almost 5pm! 2. The mani/pedi took almost TWO HOURS. 3. The tech doing my nails was obviously new. I had to ask her to re-do several things, and she did not seem skilled whatsoever. When the owner arrived, she corrected the tech on something, but there was obviously no preparatory training instilled that should have been in place by the owner. 4. I asked for the most "basic" mani/pedi over the phone, and since the girl taking my call knew it was my first time there, I assumed I was getting a basic package, with no upgrades. To my surprise they had upgraded me to the "Pure" package and the cost was $10 more when I went to pay!! Total of $60 BEFORE TIP for a less than quality job that took almost 2 hours. LISTEN UP, FOLKES. This might be one of the best salons I've been to. They are the sweetest and most kind hearted people. Friendly staff, Netflix, mimosas, wine, cake, etc... Is this for real? The salon is a bit small (3 people) so be sure to call ahead to make sure they are available. So cozy inside - full kitchen.... You can rent out the whole salon if you have enough girls and have your own girls night! They also use ALL NATURAL products.... So that means no acrylic nails, ladies. However, they do do shellac. Ni helped me out with my manicure and pedicure and even gave me a hug at the end! Not to mention, the environment was so friendly, everyone in the salon wound up watching the movie together and commentating together. Such a GREAT VIBE! After getting fed up with all of the economical nail salons in the South Austin corridor (Great Nails, Sweet Nails), Pure Nails is a breath of fresh air (and quite literally so as the salon is devoid of that typical, overpowering nail salon aroma!) I love this place! The women are so fantastic, the salon is clean, and it is a really nice salon to hang out in with nice chairs, basins not circulating chairs! Love that they don't use drills to take off my SNS. Nails feel healthier. And the scrub they make will leave your hand feeling the softest they have ever been. April did an amazing job with my SNS and gave me the perfect taupe/off-white color for the summer! You can definitely tell all the ladies here take their time and want to make sure you leave with good looking nails and feeling fab. Couple their amazing service with complimentary wine/mimosas with Sweet Home Alabama playing on the TV and you have the perfect evening to wind down from a hectic work day. Pedicure was great; has lasted several weeks, was relaxing and comfortable! However, I was so unimpressed with my manicure, I ended up having to get it redone somewhere else two days later. The paint started chipping that same day! I had asked for a flower and while they all acted confident and kept stating how pretty it was, it was basically a bunch of colored dots, I wish she had just said 'I don't do those', I'm sure if I had said something they would have fixed it but I didn't because I felt bad. I never get my nails done and I didn't realize how bad it was until I got another manicure with a flower which was so easy, quick and beautiful. Ouch, worst pedicure ever. I was disappointed when I walked into Pure Nails - things have really changed since I was last here. Super crowded and no longer "pure," this business has probably changed hands. They now use standard polish with all the accompanying issues and employ newbie nail technicians. I booked an Express pedicure and was asked at least four times if I did not want to upgrade and a couple of times if I wasn't sure I wanted a manicure too. Not exactly hard sell but why use an online booking service? The young woman that did my pedicure did not know the difference between short nails and ingrown. I had to ask her multiple times to stop cutting the nail deep into the corners. This and the aggressive cuticle cutting and rough callus filing left my poor tootsies tender. The paint job was only so-so. I won't be back since I can get this type of pedicure in 99% of the other chop shops in town. read more

The rest of me might always be a hot mess, but I am VERY particular about my nails. After going to several salons in the South Lamar area, I felt like I wasn't getting a great value for what I was paying. Enter Pure Nails. Securing an appointment was a breeze. I walk in for the first time and there are no chemical scents or blaring televisions or radios. My nail technician was Ni for both my gel manicure and pedicure, and I will never go to anyone else. She was warm and talkative when I was chatty, but allowed me to sink back and relax on the massage. I'm sensitive in certain areas (multiple foot surgeries) and she in no way made me feel uncomfortable, but instead listened to me when I asked for sensitivity in certain spots. Ni paid so much attention to detail and I have never had softer feet, smoother polish, or better shaped nails. I can't believe I didn't drop in earlier; I know I've found my go-to salon! read more

When I showed up, I was wearing acrylics from another salon out of town and one cracked & I couldn't wait to get them off! This is one of the worst establishments I've ever been to get my nails done. I just moved here from Houston not too long ago and have yet to find a decent place to go. First let me preface, that I chose this place based off other reviews. Feeling good about the potential, I walked in around 6:15 to get a SNS manicure. As soon as I walked in, I was told it would be a 20 minute wait, which is fine but they closed at 7 so I had a feeling my service was about to be rushed. After the wait, I'm sat down and serviced started. The tech that started on me had to apply one tip to my thumb (it broke at a weird angle) and used the crustiest dried out glue to apply the tip. Once applied, I asked that it be cut down to the size of all my natural nails. After cutting and shaping, I noticed it was shaped at an angle and asked tech repeatedly to fix it. Shortly after another tech came to pick up where the previous left off. The service was so rushed, I dont even know where to begin. The tools were dirty, the same ones she had just used on the client before me. The dip was messy, clumpy, full of hair...I asked that she do 3 layers of dip as I like my nails a little thicker and she told me that every tech does things differently and to let her continue. I picked a color that needed 3 dips to not be opaque. Then after she finished dipping, she started to shape. I told her to keep my shape, which did not happen. My nails went from being long and square to extremely short and rounded. Then when she went to even the powder down with the drill, cut me multiple times, to the point where I started to bleed. She did not apologize or address the cuts but kept working. At this point, I'm extremely unhappy but wasn't sure how to address it. She goes to buff and I decided to speak up. I let her know I was very unhappy with the manicure and pointed out the various things that occurred and she kept asking if it was the color or if I want to come back and change the color. The color in fact was the only decent thing about the process. I'm leaving for vacation and these were supposed to be my vacation nails so I really started feeling bummed out. As she proceeded to put top coat on, I told her id rather leave then finish the service. So that's exactly what I did, left with crusty, bloody, lumpy nails. Don't go here, it's unclean, unkept, and the manicure is below subpar. I'll spare y'all pictures, I had to come home and try to repair what I left with. read more

I was a bit apprehensive because in the past, other nail experiences have been awful. The last time I'd gotten a mani or pedi was 3 years ago because I'd had such bad experiences. I decided to give Pure Nails a try, and I'm so glad I did! I will be going back. Everyone who works in the salon was super nice and friendly. Camille was so careful, while also making sure to get it done right. She checked with me multiple times throughout to make sure I was happy with her work. The end result was beautiful. I am a few months behind and I have needed to write this review since my birthday!!! So long story short I made a reservation at another nail salon (no name dropping but it is a very busy salon on S. First St.) two weeks in advance for my birthday. I arrived to that appointment only to be told that I needed to wait 45 minutes as they were understaffed and had two walkins prior to my arrival (I had arrived 15 minutes EARLY to boot). Needless to say I was not having it, pissed and decided another salon would get my business. Behold: Pure Nails!!! I called and asked if they had any room for a walk in after having explained the above scenario, and they said sure come on down! Camille (the owner) was a sweetheart and greeted me with a glass of champagne for my birthday and explained her business to me (being a nail salon that uses all natural products). Ni was assigned the task of giving me a pedicure and manicure. Not at any point did my pedicure or manicure feel rushed. Ni made sure to massage my legs and feet, hands and arms and take her time to insure my experience was worth the running around from salon to salon. In search of a top nail salon in Austin, I did some research and found reviews for this gem of a salon online. A small business owner myself, I loved reading that the owner, Camille, is a perfectionist and works hard to ensure that her clients are comfortable and happy. Being a business owner is not for the weak of heart. And, this is even more so the case when the business owner herself is a staff member striving to provide excellent customer service. Though I chose Pure Nails because of the reviews, I was still very pleasantly surprised at the attention to detail that was provided during my Shellac manicure. I've never received such an amount of compliments on my nails than after my appointment at Pure Nails. With many Shellac experiences to my name, this was the very first time that my polish lasted for the entire two weeks and looked great at that. Additionally, the three staff members at the salon (Camille included) were all very friendly and accommodating; It was clearly evident that they all enjoy what they do as well as working together. In the ten years that I've lived in Austin I've never found a nail salon to which I can claim loyalty. Camille and her staff at Pure Nails has changed that entirely. Thank you, ladies! read more

I get the express pedi if I'm in a hurry, but really like to pamper myself with the regular pedicure. Camille was great. She dealt with the feet of an athlete who had never had a pedicure before (I took care of my feet as best a guy could tho!). I am a giant by most standards 6'5 and 230 or so...but I figured it was time to get my feet dealt with by a professional. Camille is an artist with feet and a fun person to talk with to boot. It's a nice little store with a great environment that is easy to access. You can also book appointments online, something that for a smaller store was surprising. My feet felt fabulous after it...went for a run shortly after it and I felt fast, was kinda strange...
