When I went to pay, I got sick to my stomach. Please read. Quality of manicure and pedicure was fine. I came in to get my gel nail polish taken off and then just cut my nails. Not even clear polish. That was $21. Fine. Got the "Classic" gel pedicure- $51. Fine, little pricey but fine. I go to pay, and there is a $10 service charge. $82 total. For what? Water in a cup with a slice of lemon instead of a bottle? And I don't think the fact that they are "all natural non toxic" justifies a service fee. I've been to a lot of upscale nail salons, and I've never seen a service fee. And this is not a luxury nail salon at all. Clean, nice, but nothing special. I wanted to tip both people that helped me a decent amount. When I saw the $82 bill I had to decrease my tip slightly because I don't have a ton of money to spend. Minus one star because the storefront is extremely awkward and is basically a first floor apartment complete with kitchen island and fridge in the middle of the nail salon. Went in for a pedicure that I booked through ClassPass. My nail tech, who was an older woman, asked me if I wanted square or rounded for my toes which I thought was odd. I wasn't sure what she meant because I've never had anyone ask what shape I want my toes to be so I said uhh square.. ? and she said okay square round. I thought it would be fine and guessed that she's just gonna file the edges a little rounder. She then proceeds to use clippers and cuts down the side of my big toe nail so deep (to create this "round shape") to the point where I know this is going to cause an ingrown toenail. A few days have past since the pedicure and I can feel my toe getting so sore. The massage and scrub was good, but I've never had a pedicure experience like this, and I won't be back. read more

I think this may be it y'all. I have been on the search for "my" nail place in Austin. I have jumped around over the years, trying everything from all-natural nails to dip nails. I have a place at the arboretum that I love, but it's just too far from where I live to go as my regular place. So, as I've tested several well-rated salons in the South Austin area, I finally landed upon Pure Nails. Conveniently tucked away at the Post on S Lamar, the salon is a hidden gem. It's cozy, comfy, and clean. There were just three technicians working when I went, which I actually really like. It's small and quaint and doesn't feel like some big conveyor-belt nail place where they sit as many customers as they can and don't take their time as much. My technician was super sweet and welcomed me in. She let me pick my colors and didn't rush me like most do (I am indecisive) and was really helpful, offering me a drink and letting me take my time. She did a fantastic job on my gel manicure--meticulous and gorgeous work. I didn't get a pedicure this time around but the chairs looked wonderful, so I am excited to go back again soon. So I understand why people leave good reviews. This is definitely a small little business probably paying a fortune for rent. The great news is they genuinely want to give you good service. They are super friendly and work hard to give you great results. I've only been in twice and it's always repeat customers so that says a lot. The prices are respectable. I have lived in Austin for going on 7 years now. My nails are one of the things I take most pride in taking care of, reasons being: I work in an office so I'm having to look at my hands a lot of the time, my nails are naturally long so I like to keep them strong and healthy, and for the past 6 years I've had a thing for keeping up with my nails. I've been to many nail techs in the Austin area and I can finally say I have found the right nail salon for me. The ladies I have met are some of the nicest people I've come across in a nail salon atmosphere. They want your nails done the way YOU want them and don't half ass the process, nor are they trying to rush you out of your seat for the next customer. What I also enjoy, are the conversations I get to have with them! I know not everyone wants to have a conversation while getting their nails done, but for me, I love it! To me it means a lot to remember past conversations and continue from the last session. I also wanted to add that even though I can grow my nails out I have never been able to just put gel polish on them. My nails have become so strong since I've been coming here it has blown me away. The location of the salon is great too. You can park your car in a lit garage and it's only a small walk to the salon. Sometimes if I get off work early, before my nail appointment, I'll go into the restaurant on the corner for a happy hour drink. Relaxation at its finest. All in all, this place is amazing. Great little nail salon. I made a same day appointment on a Sunday. Staff is very friendly. Their mani/pedis are great. My nails are still chip- free after a week! And I've ruined my poor little toe nails with hiking and rock climbing. Somehow, she was able to make my feet look cute again! Love that I found this place and it's within walking distance. Tracy gave me a perfect SNS manicure. I had never tried SNS but was looking to do something on my natural nails while taking a break from my super long acrylics, and gel always lifts after a few days so SNS it is... the nail salon is small boutique style with gorgeous desks and chairs and felt very clean. I did a walk-in and they said the wait would be about 15 minutes but it was only maybe 10 or less before either the assistant or coworker started shaping and prepping my nails, and then Tracy took over. They both had great attention to detail and my SNS and nail shape look perfect. There was a new client special for a complimentary paraffin wax treatment so I took her up on that as well. She was very sweet and did a great job, I never felt nervous which I know can be common when trying a new salon. I'll be back for a pedicure very soon. read more

Had my original appointment set up for two days later but after having the kind of rough day I was having, I gave Tracy a call to see if I would be able to get squeezed in so I could get my 'release', and whambam, she got me in without any issues! After getting to the place, I was actually in awe of how clean the salon did appear to be. So much respect for the cleaning process they had in place because they had me clean my hands right away before getting seated, and they were all prepared with the appropriate PPE including gloves themselves. Way to go, Pure Nails, you sure had me feeling safe and protected the right way! The way they took care of me in terms of checking in with me each time they used anything that included hot temperatures, pressure, and/or if I was happy with what I was seeing so far, truly deserved five stars. They went above and beyond without doubt and that is not the kind of treatment we customers often get to have (or even hope for) from other salons! Pure Nails' pricing is very reasonable to me because their quality of work was worth every cent I had spent! They even have complimentary services to include in with your choice of services as a "package" and i LOVED the wax paraffins they offered - felt AMAZING afterwards. Also cannot emphasize enough on how DETAILED Tracy and the other lady (wish I knew her name) was with the work they performed on both my fingernails and toenails. I stumbled across this nail salon @ closing today, and I'm SO thankful I did. It's a really efficient space, clean, accommodating, polite/amazing service, even more amazing final product. There's about a +$10 price premium compared to my previous "go-to" spot, but it's totally worth it (imo.) Also, call ahead. The listed hours are not accurate, which is why I showed up around closing time (5pm on Sat;) Yelp listed 7pm as their Saturday closing time. I had THE best shellac mani today! I've previously gotten a manicure here through Classpass; it was mostly done by an older woman and the experience was good so I booked a mani/pedi directly with the business. The nail techs are all quite friendly and welcoming so I want to give credit there, and I don't find anything strange with the layout like others have stated. However, this time around the quality wasn't great - the gentleman that works there was my nail tech and started with my pedicure. There was barely any actual cutting or trimming done and my nails were not cleaned up at all before being painted. He was overall just very very gentle; hardly applied any pressure at all, barely removed any dead skin or did any shaping and when pushing back my cuticles, he was just rubbing the tool on my actual nail. I asked for the old red polish on the corners of my nails to be taken off before painting and it was done so barely with a brush and the tiniest amount of acetone that it didn't remove anything and I was just confused as to how he didn't notice. Under my nails was also not cleaned up properly. I spoke up politely various times to clarify what I wanted but it was happening to often that it got awkward and I just chose to ride it out. The nail polish in the end covered most imperfections but it was no better than just a change of polish and the point of the whole thing is that I wanted a quality, professional service. The manicure was better but I again had to interject many times for dead skin to be removed and for my nails to not be filed unevenly, and there is still a sizable gap between the gel and my cuticles. I cringe at putting a photo of my toes on here but I do think they should not look so similar to how I came in before polish is applied. I think the effort was there but it was just not a good service for the price. I thought I found my nail place but I unfortunately won't be back. read more

I did not have a good experience here. I happened to be in the area so figured I'd get them done. But the chairs were so uncomfortable. Everyone working there was more focused on watching the tv screen than working. My guy would stop to turn around and watch it. And he wasn't paying attention to what he was doing at all. This was the most painful pedicure I've received. He was rubbing my skin raw and digging in way to deep under my nails. I had to pull away three times and I'm not usually sensitive skinned. The nails when was it all said and done were fine enough but we see how long they last. read more

Third time at this salon and I have always had a great experience working with different technicians- and my gel always lasts a month despite me being hard on my hands at work. Everyone is detail oriented and listens to my feedback throughout the appointment. Today I had a complicated request - to have my color combination matched exactly to my last visit with no recollection of the colors used (my fault). My new technician, Bernice I believe, was so patient and gracious with me to find the exact combination and was even honest with me mid treatment to say our first attempt of colors was making my undertone appear grey! I never would've noticed but she was so right. Anyway, she spent probably an entire extra appointment's worth of time to make everything look perfect and I felt so bad for being "that client" but she reassured me, encouraged me to give feedback with every few steps, and was so professional and warm. She helped me make sure I knew what to ask for in the future and to know what's realistic with my nail shape/length to avoid frustration. I couldn't recommend her and her colleagues more.
