    Blueberry Yogurt Cake
    Vivian K.

Ever since I discovered this cake, I never bought another one again. Yogurt is so much healthier than all cream and best of all, they make this blueberry yogurt cream creamy but light and perfect sweet and sour enough to taste better than all other cream. It is usually lower in sugar and even lower in sugar for the one I go to in flushing union street. That means perfect fluff and more health friendly! By the way, blueberries? Like and sweet? Omg perfect choice!

Cuisine: 6 Service: 7 Decor: 7 Value: 6 Overall: 6 After all these years, I find myself still coming back to this bakery regularly. The main reason, they have free parking, and that's rare in Flushing. I can simply sit here to enjoy a beverage and/or baked goods without worrying about my car. As for the drinks and food, they're all average to above average. Nothing spectacular, but I do like their coffee bread. They also make some decent larger sized cakes. However, I honestly don't think I would come here as much without the parking.

I been here a few times. I gotten a couple of cakes for birthdays and of course plenty of pastries. This bakery is a bit pricey but their stuff is always on point. The donuts and cakes are my favorites. What I love about the pastries here is that they aren't super sweet.

My go to spot in Flushing. Newest favorite besides Matcha (anything), is the red velvet latte and the Strawberry Tiramisu. The tiramisu is a creamy, delicate balance of strawberry and fresh cream. It's so good!! Same texture that you would expect from a standard tiramisu only better!! Today I had the honey lavender macchiato and that was slightly sweet and quite relaxing. Perfect for a cold and windy day. I was here around 2:30pm in the afternoon on a Saturday so it was very busy. Almost every cafe table was full and everyone had a tray of desserts or baked goods. Picked up milk bread, strawberry Tiramisu, a chocolate eclair (also a must try), apple tarts, and a cream donut. This was to go for a hostess gift so I don't have many pictures. But totally worth a visit especially to peruse the shelves of goodies.

    Green tea roll cake

The cakes I tried here were very good and the service friendly! The traditional pound cake was great if that's what you're looking for but for me what really stood out was the green tea roll. I love green tea and I thought the cake was wonderfully moist with a chocolate and cream middle that made it really good. They also have 4 parking spots so there is parking but it's tight. Takeout is really easy with the counter right by the door and dining in seemed nice (I just did takeout).

Pastries! Pastries! Pastries! It's a pretty bakery with nice pastries and desserts to grab and go. You don't need to go to the cashier to ask for each pastry. Also lots of coffee selections. A lot of seating too and a parking lot for anyone who has a car and needs parking. I always get their matcha crème loaf and it tastes so good even though it is fatty. Prices are okay and sometimes can be expensive. Their cake slices are pretty tasty and not too sweet which is what I like. Buttercream tastes so good

A bakery/ coffee shop in Queen Chinatown, with parking! What?! Yeah!!! That's enough rain to go there. It's cafeteria style, you grab a tray and tons and pick up what you want, then go to the counter to order drinks and pay. They have about 10 tables in the back. It's fresh and clean. And the ac was blasting when I went. They have a variety of baked goods, both sweet and savory. I was drawn to the kimchi croquet and the spinach and feta Danish.. The croquet was absolutely delicious, but not a croquet at all. It was a bun with a kimchi curry filling. There was plenty of filling. It had the right amount of heat and a little sweet. The spinach and feta pastry was pretty and tasted good... it had onions in it, in case you're not a fan. I took home the premium casttel. It's good, nothing amazing, slightly sweet, a bit dry. But good. I haven't tried the green tea roll yet.. The one thing though, just after I paid, an employee came out and started telling at the people in que to move to the side to que up, it wasn't necessary at all for him to yell...I wouldn't hold this against the store, but just the one employee..

Had an awesome opportunity to try their green tea cake roll, it was delicious. I love the fact that in the center, it has a pinch of sweet red bean paste, and the stuff cream was just enough. It's actually one of the best roll cakes I've had in a while, Well packaged too. I also liked the Castella, not too sweet, tasty and not too dry. I still like the green tea roll cake the best. As I was there I notice they have a nice pretty collection of cakes in the cooler. Great birthday cake options for kids on the other side of the cooler. It was a hot day so I decided to try their iced latte with soy milk, went very well paired with the cake. I will definitely come back for the next roll cake, they have parking in the front of the store which is a plus. The cashier inside were also very polite and nice while taking my order. Overall great experience,

    Alvin Z.

Lots of people at 7 PM which is surprising but got the strawberry summer breeze which I thought was okay. The service was amazing and there were lots of people.

We got the custard pastry, taro bread, kimchi croquette, apple strudel. I really liked the taro bread, it was light and slightly sweet and buttery with cream on the inside Custard pastry - good but not special Apple strudel- good strudel, not enough apple filling Kimchi croquette - nice flavor, not greasy like some croquettes can be Only the taro bread stood out to me. There are better local bakeries in the area to support!

I'm baffled by all the mixed reviews. I've come to this location multiple times now and never had a single issue with staff, cleanliness, or food. The staff was really considerate and very courteous and all around lovely. As for food, there's so much to choose from whether it be savory or sweet and is generally extremely affordable. There's something for everyone and at a fair price point if you're looking to watch your spending. There's cakes, breads, croissants, croquettes, sandwiches, etc. The food isn't out of this world or anything but it's great for a quick pick me up or snack. If you want to make lunch out of it (as I did every time I came) try a bunch of different items. You can easily get up to five items (depending on what you purchase) for ten bucks.

I am a fan of the pandan flavor desserts and bought two that I wanted to try. One being a roll cake and the other layer cake. The pandan roll cake with taro I was told is a specialty that they only have on weekends. It was really flavorful, moist and spongy, just perfectly touched with a dash of sweetness in both the cake and the cream - I personally don't like overly sweet foods, and this is just perfect for me and my mom. I'm equally pleased with the layer cake as well it was very fresh and have that "QQ" texture - deliciously chewy and bouncy. This too, just hit right for me on the gentle sweetness, the pandan flavor keeping the spotlight in this dessert. My mom and I are big fans of these desserts. We just came back trying out others pandan layer cakes in Downtown Flushing and this shop beats them by a large margin. I hope to come back more when we could even though this shop is quite a distance for us.

I walked into a clean, well lit space designed for quick selection rather than lingering, and the display cases were filled with brightly decorated cakes and pastries that looked consistently fresh. The mango based cakes are the most consistent thing here. I tried one and found it light, creamy, and built around fresh fruit rather than overly heavy frosting, which made it easy to finish even after a full meal. The matcha cake also worked well, leaning more milky than bitter, with a soft sponge that held its structure without feeling dry. The pork floss cakes are one of the more interesting savory sweet options, and they came out better than I expected since they did not go overboard on sweetness. The croissants and egg tarts are solid supporting items rather than the main reason to come. The croissant I had was flaky with a noticeable butter layer, and the egg tart was best eaten warm as the custard tightens up when cold. The purple rice desserts are heavier but work if I want something more filling and texturally different from the fruit cakes. Service was generally efficient even when the bakery was busy, and the staff moved through orders quickly. Prices sit a bit higher than older style Flushing bakeries, but the tradeoff is cleaner presentation, more modern flavor combinations, and consistently fresh looking cakes. For a modern bakery stop in Flushing, Shakalaka delivers on quality and visual appeal.

The bread part was fluffy, dense and didn't feel like an empty white flour situation. The custard bun had a very generous amount of a custard in it and the pineapple topping didn't crumble off and fall off into pieces, but was very nicely made shell. And it was "Not-too-Sweet"! The lady who I assume is the boss said she had held a pop-up shop about two years prior which blew up, hence what we see here. The matcha red bean loaf grabbed my attention straight away and didn't disappoint, but their red bean bun was just as impressive, as it's a more bread-y counterpart to the fluffy versions other bakeries typically have. The onioissant is definitely experimental and worked better on the chive bacon cream cheese one than on the pollack roe, which was a bit too much on the salty and fishy side for my liking. Their chocolate horn is at least twice as big as a typical one you'll find at other bakeries and has a rich dark chocolate filling which was a pleasant surprise.
