This is a constant meal spot for us. The food to price ratio is excellent! The Chicken Thigh & [chicken] Katsu combo plate for $15 is the way. The cabbage salad and poppyseed dressing is a delicious start, and then you get a heaping plate of meat, rice, and two sauces to smother it all. It seriously weighs like 2lbs. The lady who runs the counter does so with kindness, warmth, and a hint of hardass - which I appreciate. I'm giving Toshi's Teriyaki and upgrade to 5-stars! I've come here almost weekly for 6 years and never disappointed. What's outstanding is the consistency and personable treatment. They recognize my voice when I call as I'm driving there when I call in my order. The food is done within minutes of me arriving. Toshi hooked me up last night in the midst of a brain block on what to eat for dinner. I'd stopped by the QFC for some grocery's and happened to park directly in front of teriyaki joint so I took it as a sign from GOD that I enter... I perused the life size menu above the counter and landed on the Combo # 2 of sirloin beef & chicken thighs. The chef gave me a pile of rice and a heaping serving of flesh for my consumption. I skipped on the salad but ordered a few extra sauces since the lady indicated you only receive one. Within 5 minutes the bag was handed to me and off I drove out into the night. Now the meal was sensational. Meat was moist & juicy and coupled with some amazing teriyaki sauce I devoured it like a Tasmanian Devil. I'll be back for sure. She doesn't wash her hands when handling my food and touching my to go plate on the inside, after touching anything else like cash and such. The chicken itself had the texture of being overly dry and almost like rubber. Not enough grill marks or proper teriyaki sauce. My mother used to work here back in the 90s and it tasted really good. The closest thing you'll get is at the real Toshi's location ran by Toshi himself in Mill Creek, where the sauce is original and not watered down like this location. read more

Really a 2.5 star review: $17 for this plate doesn't seem worth it when compared to any other Teriyaki spot around. Toshi's used to be the spot but hasn't been what it was years ago. The small portions of beef and teriyaki were dry and bland but the sauce is pretty good. Not the best service but it doesn't seem like her style, I wasn't offended but could see others being. I heard Toshi's was famous so I tried the closest one near me and got combo with beef sirloin and chicken breast. The plate was pretty heavy with lots of rice and salad. The beef sirloin was really dry and almost like beef jerky. The chicken breast was good but on the dryer side. The sauce was more watery than thick but overall a solid teriyaki sauce. I ordered takeout and got the teriyaki chicken and the Kalbi ribs and was a little disappointed when I received two small bits of meat and the rest were bones. This place has always been great. The meat is tender but not gristle filled, the flavor is great. Very consistent. We are regulars. The customer service is also good, fast, friendly, efficient. I don't like leaving reviews that are less than stellar- especially when the service is good. But this place seemed to lack the distinctive flavors that make the dishes what they are supposed to be. Seattle style teriyaki is generally soy sauce, ginger, garlic, mirin and sugar. I did not detect any ginger or mirin in their regular teriyaki which was perfectly grilled. I can only assume the hot n spicy version is what people come here for. It looked good but spicy is not my thing. I got the regular chicken teriyaki and chicken katsu (delightfully crispy)combo. It was good quality food and the cabbage salad was either undressed or had a light dressing (which was a nice break from the often cloying sweetness of heavily dressed cabbage) but the tonkatsu sauce seemed to be simply thickened soy sauce instead of real tonkatsu(bulldog) sauce. Portion sizes were generous, service was quick and friendly. So even though the flavors weren't quite right I'll probably be back. The location was clean and comfortable. Good for a quick dine in experience but not really table service nice. Drink selections are whatever they have in the cooler so bottles and cans of the typical variety. Worth trying if in the area.Of note were the vegetarian selections which included stir fried veggies and stir fried veggies with tofu. Better voices than most places. read more

I spent some time googling this business since I couldn't believe the real Toshi would countenance such pitiful food and service. Turns out this place doesn't have anything to do with the original Toshi, despite the big window decal on the front doors that read "The Original Toshi's Teriyaki". Any place that would engage in such deceptive advertising doesn't deserve any business. The woman running the counter and taking orders is extremely unwelcoming and curt. This place is always so busy and I pass by it all the time shopping at QFC and finally decided to give it a try. Their portions are ginormous and it's definitely authentic OG teriyaki! I'm very picky about my teriyaki and this place definitely knows how to do it right! I called in an order to pick up (Chicken Teriyaki + Chicken Yakisoba) I took it home to open up a very deliightful surprise! It was super heavy to carry to begin with and when I opened up the two boxes... there was so much meat and noodles packed that it was almost overfilled! The best teriyaki spot in the west. Well around this area at least. Ordered to go for my family and they gave big portions. We definitely had leftovers. The owner of the place is super nice and the food taste great! Chicken teriyaki and Katsu wasn't dry at all. The Hot & Spicy Kalbi was juicy and had the right amount of spiciness to it. Was in the neighborhood for work at the high school. Great food, great service and very clean! Will be coming back again.

The food tastes good but it's really overpriced for what you're getting. The container is filled with a mound of rice with some beef slices on top. Expected a little more meet and a better salad then just thinly sliced cabbage for a total of $21 with two pieces of egg rolls. read more

This is my go-to teriyaki joint, originally opened by a couple of high school friends of mine, but it has since changed hands. When they're on their game, everything is perfect. Sometimes, though, the sesame oil and rice vinegar aren't evident on the cabbage salad, the meat has aged a little too long, or the chicken is too rubbery. Ah, but I I live for those times when they nail everything! I've tried all of West Seattle's teriyaki places and each has its merits, but this remains my favorite. read more

Rice portions where huge, but probably the worst teriyaki I've ever had!! Everything is pre cooked sitting in warming bins to the side behind cash register and I got to watch them serve it up. The beef they used was a roast beef that was supper overcook and dry. The teriyaki sauce was watered down and the salad was just shredded lettuce with lemons squeezed over the top. For a $13+tip for teriyaki beef. I would have still been disappointed at $6.99. I will not go back or give them a 2nd chance. read more

I ate some absolute fiiiiiiire pork egg rolls from here today. Like holy shit they were actually the greatest things: perfectly deep fried and crunchy with piping hot juicy pork and cabbage filling OMFG I'm going back inside to order some more lol excuse me a sec ;) You could tell they weren't sitting in a food warmer getting soggier and soggier as the day goes. They were definitely fried right then. To me, the chicken teriyaki was really good. It was charred and crunchy on the outside while still being juicy on the inside. Wasn't lacking sauce, but not drenched in it. Idk pretty good! The fried rice tho, id skip it. It was FILLED with corn. Like you couldn't take one bite without corn. And I just dont think the flavors mashed well so I would next time get white rice. And now I know! The place was dirty tho. Just sayin. I wiped my son's high chair off and the wipes were black. So if you plan on taking your baby there any time soon, use the high chair that I thoroughly disinfected hahaha. Solid three stars for this place.
