My grilled fish was obviously burned to a crisp and chewed like shoe leather. When I showed the waiter, he didn't seem to care. Drinks finally came during the entrée. One of our appetizers came in time for desert, The waiter, who by this point knew we were having issues, started to just plain ignore us. What a wonderful experience this was!! I came here with my boyfriend who ordered the bibimbap that he absolutely enjoyed. I ordered the seafood tofu soup and I finished every last sip. There was a mix of declious seafood with every bite and so much fluffy tofu. I couldn't believe how incredible their dishes were. Staff was A+ friendly, always checking up on us and refilling our beverages. There was a really friendly woman working there practically attending every table, simply to check up on them and help out the other servers. Amazing and dedicated!! We stoped for lunch here on way from Poughkeepsie, the restaurant is inside strip mall and it was difficult to find the sign but plenary of parking. We ordered 3 miso soup, veg hot Gopto ( Bibimbob) Kalbi, pork chili and Drinks. It was very poor to say this is korean Restaurant, there was latterly no side dishes on table and one old lady is hanging all over, old man came with son and he went straight to sushi bar and start making rolls,,,,, yuuuk hey you need to wash hands before touching anything inside the kitchen or food to serve. We were saying thank god we did not order sushi. My Kalbi was ok, but the pork was disaster, we left whole dish and old lady asked if we want to take home, if we wanted to take home we would have finished there, They need more people on floor and big sign for hand wash in the sushi bar and bathrooms. This was my place to go for quick bite, but lately the amount of rise in sushi rolls is so much I feel like I'm eating rice. Today I ordered bento box role that comes with 2 cucumber and tuna I asked if I could switch cucumber for my favorite and simple spicy tuna and got it with cucumber I asked the waitress if I could get spicy tuna she did switch my order but instead of getting spicy tuna I got the same role minus the cucumber + more rice and got charged extra 2$ for it. My companion order Sashimi bento box the slices of fish were very thin and tuna my favorite had very fishy taste to it This whole situation is just a turn off I could not finish my spicy tuna with extra rice. Was seated quickly and the restaurant was very Covid compliant with spacing out diners and face covering usage. We order the shrimp shumai as an appetizer, I got chicken udon and my boyfriend got a sizzling stone rice bowl with spicy pork. Our shumai were a little overdone but still tasty. We were craving Korean BBQ and this has to be the place to fulfill our hunger. We started with LA style Kalbi, Spicy Pork (jai-yuk-gui) and Bulgogi. We also ordered the Seafood Soup (Hae mul tang) with Soon doo boo. The Kalbi was nice and juicy, very tasty and flavorful, The Spicy Pork hit the spot a perfect blend of Korean spices and heat. The Bulgogi was delicious but needed a little less sweetness. We were surprised by the abundance of side dishes from Kimchi, Acorn Jelly, spicy fish cakes and cucumber kimchi. The place had a warm cozy feeling with ample room to enjoy good food and company. The two soups were exquisite in flavor and richness perfect Korean soup for those cold stormy days. My daughter and I ate at Toro for dinner tonight. It's located in a strip mall on main street in Fishkill. The interior of the restaurant is clean, well lit, and has a nice sushi bar. For appetizers we had shumai, and vegetable tempura. The veggie tempura was different from the ways I've had it before. It came as 3 fried vegetable cakes which were comprised of cut shredded vegetables rather than individual vegetables. It was ok, but I would have rather had broccoli/carrot/sweet potato/etc. individually. The shumai was good, but I don't believe it was house made. For dinner my daughter had chicken Katsu which she enjoyed very much. I had bibimbap which I thought was very good and very much like I remember having in Seoul. Both meals came with miso soup which was good, and my meal came with a side of kimchi, ban chan, and a big bottle of gochoojang to make it as spicy as you like. The waitstaff was super. Interesting place that mixes both Korean and Japanese. I had two sushi rolls that were decent however I found them to be covered with too much sauce. If I ever came back I would ask for them to go lighter on it. My boyfriend had the beef pho and there was nothing special. We suspected that the broth wasn't from scratch either. I originally came here wanting bulgogi but the prices were way too high for the portion size. This will become one of my favorite and most frequented restaurants ! The food, ambiance, decor, establishment and service were amazing! When we arrived, we were the first patrons at the restaurant, as we were being served our appetizers more people started filling the other tables. For appetizers we had Ika sansai and agedashi tofu. For entrées I had gopdol bibimbab and taro sushi and my boyfriend had bibimbab . Last, for desert we had red beans ice cream (one of my favorite flavors)! The food was amazing and exactly what I needed on an autumn day. Our waitress was attentive and checked on us many times. The food came promptly to our table, and we were left to savoure everything. The ambiance is casual yet comfortable. I could come to this place for a date with my boyfriend :) Overall, we left very satisfied and think that this restaurant is a hidden gem in fishkill. Toro is the only authentic Korean BBQ option in the Mid Hudson River Valley area, to my knowledge. They have a mixture of bowls, bulgogi, sushi, BBQ and even pho. I haven't tried their non Korean food but the Sushi is ordered often from clients and looks good. They have an AWESOME array of kids dishes offered and cutely named after superheroes. The BBQ pork and beef are deliciously done, as are the banchan. I've never taken issue w the food . The service has been fairly decent to terrible, with no water refills, ordering something additional and it not coming or asking for a plate, napkin, chopstick, fork, and never receiving it until you flag down other servers hoping they'll get it... and then they don't. On busy nights most of the tables are full, so perhaps they should hire more servers or get folks that can manage that volume. Inasmuch as this place is yummy, the experience and ownership treatment of me leave a lot to be desired. A common racial stereotype is that black Americans don't tip. After frequenting this establishment, never ordering less than $50 to $70 in meals myself at a time, I don't need a lecture that my meal doesn't include a tip. The insolent assumptions and belittling behavior are not only offensive and off putting, it buys into racial stereotyping which no owner should purport. So... Toro is great for food and sadly I won't be able to comfortably remain a loyal customer as much as that hurts my belly and tastebuds. Enjoy! read more

Cute little place . We got mandoo and tempura sweet potato as an appetizer both were good , though tempura wasn't as fluffy as some others I have had . Dipping sauces were good also. I hadn't been here for about 10 years and back then I wasn't a fan but now I definitely am! Don't know if it was under a different management back then or I ordered the wrong thing, but now I've been back at least 5 times and everything has been delicious. They also have a drink called a watermelon that I love! That and the spring rolls and I'm a regular now! We ADORE this place - as in hands down top five restaurants to visit around our neighborhood. The food quality is always good and super delicious and they are as authentic as we have found. The staff is so friendly. Their sushi is fresh and when you ask for a recommendation on a good fish to try, the owner is always ready with a good pick. They did not know what a ginger salad was and I watched them take out the salad I had ordered and it was a mixed green salad with seaweed on top which I did not ask for, I said I didn't want it and one of the workers put it in the dirty dish bin and then came back and took it out of the dirty dish bin and tried to give it back to me. After a day of adventuring, we were both craving some Korean. There is not much to choose from in the Hudson Valley for Korean cuisine, so Toro was our most obvious choice. After glancing at their menu online, I was a bit skeptical. Pan-Asian restaurants seem to be all the rage these days. They typically try to combine the cuisines of two or more cultures under one roof - thereby increasing the appeal and choices to would-be diners. In my experience however, what always ends up happening is that you don't find any one particular specialty, rather you have an entire menu full of mediocre copycats of culturally traditional dishes. Not particularly a Korean-foodie, my girlfriend was intent on proving me wrong (as always) and I'd have to say, she wins this battle! Upon first glance, Toro seems out of place in this random plaza. On the outside it looks narrow, but as you walk in, not only are you greeted by friendly faces, by enough room to seat over 100 patrons! The menu is huge and offers all sorts of opportunities to try new things. Besides the normal Japanese categories, Toro also offers various Korean specialties such as Grilled Barbecue dishes (Kalbi), Sizzling Hot Stone Rice Bowls (Gop-Dol), and your traditional Wok Stir Fried Dishes. We began with milky miso soup, which comes with entrees and is filled with cubes of tofu, scallions and chewy, briny seaweed. Honestly one of the most authentic miso soups I have ever had, not at all like any of those pre-made miso soups you may so easily encounter. Next, were the spicy mussels and agedashi tofu. My girlfriend raved about the mussels before we had gotten there, and to be honest - they were just ok. The deep fried tofu however, was BOMB. As a purist, I wanted to keep the entire meal Korean. And Toro didn't disappoint, they made it very well and it really reminded my of my childhood. Unsure of what to order, we both knew we wanted to try something different. We ultimately decided to go for the gopdol bibimbab. Bibimbap is like a plate of pasta for the Italians or a bowl of Ph for the Vietnamese. It's a signature Korean dish, that one can easily discern if the chef/restaurant is the real deal. And authentic it was! Served in a hot stone bowl, it was topped with sautéed and seasoned vegetables. Chili pepper paste, soy sauce, or a salty soybean paste garnish all of this. And finally, a raw or fried egg and sliced meat (usually beef) are common additions. The hot dish was stirred together thoroughly just before eating. It was yummy and for $13, super filling and generously portioned. I was surprised by the abundance of side dishes as well! Regular kimchi, cucumber kimchi, acorn jelly, and spicy fish cakes adorned the table. Our waiter kept our glasses full and sides aplenty. Toro is nice. It's casual, relaxed and delivers on quality. Service is polite and humble, and the space provides a backdrop where you can easily enjoy good food with good company. Open to 10pm Monday through Friday, and 9:30pm on Saturday, their lunch special hours are from 11:30am to 2:30pm. With plenty of parking and a spacious dining room, I am excited to return and try other authentic Korean dishes! read more

I've been here many times and always enjoyed my meals. They have some unique sushi rolls and tasty appetizers. Although I haven't tried the Korean BBQ here, I've heard great things from people who have. The ginger salad dressing is great, the tuna tataki (while small for the price) is really delicious, and the sushi rolls are fresh and scrumptious. In the 7-9 times I've been here I've never gotten sick. I've always left with a full stomach and a satisfied grin. I consider this to be one of my favorite restaurants in the Hudson Valley. I eat a lot of Korean food when I'm at home, but I tried Soon Doo Boo for the first time here! I'm a huge fan. For those who are not used to Korean dishes, there's a lot of pickled elements. If you aren't too keen on stuff like kimchee or pickled radish, you might not like the Soon Doo Boo. But if you're okay with that...you can request it not spicy, mild, or spicy. The LA Kalbi is mouthwatering. I'm drooling just thinking about it. Bugolgi is top notch as well. All come with a side of rice. A little pricey, but WORTH IT. I really liked the vegetable mandu and the Bi Bim Bap...They give you the sauce on the side, so you can pour to taste. This restaurant is the best Korean restaurant I have ever been to. My favorite is the pho which is so good and it literally melts in my mouth. Every time I think about Toro, my mouth waters all the time. My favorite roll is the California roll. It is so delicious and the crab meat is so juicy with cucumber. I thought that nothing would be able to replace Cherry Blossom, the old sushi place which used to be a this location. Back in the day, it was the only place to go for sushi for many, many miles (about 30 minutes from my home), and I've never had anything like Cherry Blossom's amazing sesame dressing, so I was ready to dislike anything else that popped up there. Toro is a great restaurant. Everything I've ever eaten here - from sushi to hot Korean food - has been stellar and delicious. I'm no expert when it comes to Korean food, so the wait staff graciously explain the proper way to eat it. All of their beef dishes are great - the meat must be perfectly marinated and simmered, and when large parties of Korean families come in to eat there, you know it's good! I try to go back there any time I'm in the area. I've never been disappointed at the interesting cuisine or quick service.
