This place was actually pretty good. It is hidden around the side of a mostly unoccupied shopping center with poor signage. But it was pretty crowded when we arrived for dinner. Nice assortment of East Asian style dishes, including a bbq station, some sushi, and some crab and lobster. Many other favorites served as well. Have a soft serve machine as part of dessert. Some of the best Chinese food in the area, in my opinion, especially the boneless spare ribs! I often stop by to grab some take out. It's nice to be able to customize, a little of this, a little of that, etc. It's always fresh, no matter the time of day. The staff is friendly and attentive, keeping the buffet area clean and full of delicious choices. I appreciate the consistency of the selections. Haven't been to an AYCE Chinese buffet in probably 4 years! First time here, and I would go back. My photo of the restaurant sign, which is a crooked banner attached above the door sets the stage for what to expect inside. Like the sign, the restaurant is dumpy and worn. This is not a place to bring a date! I arrived shortly after 5pm and the place was packed! Pretty much cleared out by 6pm. The food was decent, with restaurant staff frequently checking on and refilling food as needed. There is a Hibachi station and some sad looking sushi as well. Service was okay. We were really in the mood for Chinese food but did not want to commit to one meal from a regular take out spot. We were looking for some variety and decided to pick up food from Hudson Buffet. We decided to fill up a box from the buffet and take the food to go. Upon entering, there is a table with sanitizer, to go boxes and gloves. Every person that goes to the buffet bar is required to wear the gloves and practice social distancing. Also, you're required to wear a mask in order to go inside of course. I was happy to see the precautions put into place and felt a lot better about the experience. The food itself was decent. They offered your typical buffet options. The pans were full and hot, which I was pleased with. I was also happy to see that the inside was not overly crowded, which is something that tends to happen at buffets. Unfortunately the place has gotten a little run down but food is still excellent and the clientele has definately changed. They have a huge selection of foods, from vegatables, all meat dishes, sushi, kids finger foods, American and chinese. Everything is good and they refill often so it is fresh. If you don't mind dining with loud kids, classless people and parents who let their kids do what they want, the place is really good. My family and I have been going to Hudson Buffet since they first opened, probably 15 years ago. Just went again tonight for dinner and it was as delicious and consistent as usual. This is a Hudson Valley gem. We each started off with a plate of seafood (crab legs, shrimp, clams, mussels and crawfish) which was extra special for a night out. The hot appetizers and sushi, and mix of Chinese American, authentic Chinese and American dishes and flavors were so satisfying and flavorful. The fresh fruit and ice cream are a plus. Living in the city of NYC I am very accustomed to Chinese Buffet's. I'm spending 1 night in fishkill (a little staycation) and decided to visit this buffet. It is new years day and it was crowded but they got people seated quickly. It was a very calm setting with Christmas Carroll's playing. The workers moved fast yet attentive and so kind. It was clean with lots of food selections. My pictures are minimum for this review due to the crowd. There is something for EVERYONE. SEAFOOD, VEGETARIAN, SUSHI ETC. I tried some coconut shrimp ,garlic lobster, mushrooms, beef, salt and pepper shrimp, fried chicken and ice cream. All foods we're delicious and fresh. My husband tried the salmon, crab legs, garlic lobster, ribs, Cherries, lomein, and duck. He also said everything was good except the salmon could use a bit more seasoning. It's about $24 per adult and $2.80 for drinks per adult. Tax is also included in the receipt. They do not add gratuity but it is suggested on the receipt. I have been wanting to try this place for awhile now. I was skeptical but pleasantly surprised. The location is somewhat awkward unless you know where to park so you may be walking around aimlessly in a shopping center/outdoor mall looking for it. Once finding the restaurant, you step inside to see a somewhat grungy establishment. You're greeted by a very nice hostess and brought to your table. It is a buffet so once you get your seat, you can walk right up and explore their food selections. Like any other buffet, the food is going to be hit or miss. I tried a decent amount of things they had to offer and was surprised by how good it was. It was a mix of americanized chinese food and traditional. Staff was constantly refilling foods to make sure they were never empty. Most foods were great but sadly the egg drop soup and wontons (for that soup) were bland. Their dumplings were decent and I really enjoyed their fresh vegetable dishes (string bean and chinese mustard green dishes). I did not try their sushi or made to order foods. The fried foods (crab rangoon, spring rolls, calamari, etc) were good and seafood was ok. The meat selection wasn't bad either. Some proteins were a bit grisly but most was edible. Dessert consisted of soft serve ice cream (their cones were stale and just sit in a cardboard box), a variety of jello, fresh melon, and some mini cakes. The server was great as she doesn't seem to bother anyone while they eat but drinks were always filled which was nice. She was efficient to make sure finished plates were cleared and drinks were filled, all while making up napkins/utensils. One unfortunate thing that I noticed that the establishment doesnt really have any control over are the customers that go up to the food and literally pick all of the meat/proteins out and leave the vegetables behind. I lost count of the obnoxious people doing that. Completely shameless and honestly, quite rude. Again, not the establishments fault by any means. Overall, I would visit again. We went on a Friday night, for dinner. The place is ok and the food is decent. Half the staff is truly miserable and I feel their pain. Service industry is though, generally because most of us are horrible people that are rarely satisfied. So to them...hang on. I went there because I wanted sushi and I happened to be around, sadly...their sushi options are extremely limited to about 6 kinds, sashimi and all. That was disappointing. I don't eat shellfish, so I can't speak on the quality of crab legs and such, which seemed to be what most people were there for. Their chicken nuggets were surprisingly good and the limited selection of sushi was also good. Honestly, I won't get out of my way to go there. Mostly because sushi is my reason of going to these kind of buffets. If I happen to be around again, I might give it another try for lunch, on a Wednesday. PS. People, please tip those guys...I know you think they don't do much but they do clean the plates off your table and make sure they are around if you need help. Try and at least give them $2 per each person in your party, is way better than nothing. Poor things they have a sign where they ask people to tip. The food here was horrible. There was nothing (from a sample of about 8 different items) worth going back for. I had 1 medium plate and 1 soda for $25+. Nothing had any notable or remarkable flavor. Most items were over-breaded and the breading was overcooked (fried shrimp) or undercooked (fried calamari). There was a lot of fried food on the buffet. The carved meats were dry and I couldn't finish them, nor is a knife provided to cut any meats. The service was quick and efficient with servers working hard. The atmosphere was very chaotic with tables squished together and parents letting their kids run around and pull items off of the buffet unaccompanied. Nothing that I sampled on the buffet was worth seconds, and the price was way too much even if there had been good food. But if you're in the Fishkill area and are a buffet lover, Hudson buffet is your go to. 15 minutes from Mount Beacon Park, its easy to get to after a long hike. Large amount of seating and the employees are quick to seat you. Only 3 main course buffet tables which is surprising but less is more in this case. From baked ziti to dim sum, prime rib and steak there is something for everyone. Main thing I noticed from the Jersey buffets is that everything is fresh and has great flavor. So many other places the food is stale, lacking taste and you can tell its been out there a while. The crab rangoon was terrific and came in a triangle shape larger than other places. General tsos chicken and calamari was tender and crisp. Dumplings and the dim sum tasted great, not hard and chewy like ive had in the past.
