11/6/24 - a friend and I decided to try this place one more time; call it a waste of 2 empty stomachs, We both noted there is finally more than one car in the parking lot during the day; that should be a good sign. There's a hotel right next-door. You're seated relatively quickly; basically the staff brings beverages and remove empty plates. The food looks pretty, but of a lot of it is a bit greasy. It's a little disappointing. There are all the expected steam table entrees: lo mein, fried rice, shrimp, some fish, chicken and pork, some dim sum, and soup, a salad bar, and an extensive dessert area. On the positive side; there's loads of free parking, there are some EV charging stations, it's easy to get in and out of the. Will we go back? A resounding NO! Ate here last night. First off, this is a Buffet, so that means it's affordable, but not the best ambiance or food quality and both are true. King Buffet is located in the former Golden Corral & offers a variety of basic, common Chinese dishes & some sushi rolls, as well as misc desserts. I'd say was ok at best, and is a tad greasy & lower quality than if you ate the same dishes at a regular Chinese or Japanese restaurant. Though pretty clean for a Buffet, this place is good to fill the belly and not cone with a heavy price tag. read more

Great location. Very nice manager and staff. But food subpar. Half empty trays and with little turnover the food just sits there. Manager/owner should head out to Newburgh and check out the Asian Buffett by the mall and see how it operates. For $25 a dinner not worth it. Didn't expect it to be very good but it was pretty bad. My son and I stopped in on a Thursday at 2pm for lunch, so I believe that was our problem..it was our first time visiting since it was Golden Corral. The restaurant looked very nice and was impressive upon walking in. The buffet lines seems to have a better flow than GC and the seating was changed around and looked good. The host and the staff were attentive, the price was under $40 for 2 of us with drinks and tip and there were great food options! The issue was that the food was not hot, so as good as it looked, it didn't taste that way. I really think it was our timing, but no matter what time we showed up the food should have been hot..but we would go back during a busier time and hope to get hot food. read more

Finally tried hear after hearing what Facebook and Yelp thought of it. Really it's just fine here, the manager seats you very quickly and takes down your drink order, the food was keep hot/warm, plus I did see them change the food when the trays were nearly empty. Very attentive here, always got my finished plates, staff keep up with customers and cleaning. For food itself, I mean it's standard fair for a buffet, nothing over the top great, save for a few items like chicken on a stick and shrimp on a stick. Do wish they had more of sushi section, since not much variety. One thing I did notice is they have a happy hour during lunch and dinner were much cheaper, for those that complained about prices. read more

07July2024 11:40am Mediocre! I'm not from the area. I read the reviews on Yelp. I should have heeded the warnings. The Hot and Sour soup was a tasteless gelatinous slop. The rest of the items I had from the buffet were oily and lacked basic spices. Regardless of what chicken entree I had, the chicken was tough as leather. I never thought I could consider a buffet a fool proof diet plan. You will lose weight here without even trying. Whatever you pile on your plate and into your mouth will more than likely leave your body looking the same as it did going in, and often within the same hour. Is the food hot? Only if it's supposed to be cold (hey sushi, hey) Is the place clean? ...Also no. It's about as much as a toddlers seat when they are trying to not eat a vegetable.... Is there cross contamination? I can't confirm yes or no but that newly fried sesame chicken was sitting on top of something mushy... Did you need to pick up a last minute gift on the way to that office party that's mandatory? Great service. TBH, the space is massive and staff pleasant. Let's be realistic with expectations of a buffet. The food was over-heat-lamped. They were keeping the higher cost seafood (shellfish) at minimum for replenishment. I actually did not witness any refilling but it was around 7:30p on a Friday night. read more

I had 1 raw oyster. I put lemon on started to eat it . Under the raw oyster was a a dark dirty substance I saw unfortunately I started to eat it already. Oyster was horrible not the a fresh oyster should taste . So I spit it out into a napkin . Apparently some of the substance was ingested unfortunately. I ended up in the emergency room with food poising. So a word of caution on the raw bar there. read more

I wish I had read the reviews prior to going, and for any of the good ones, I wonder if they actually went to the same restaurant... I typically take negative reviews with a grain of salt until I actually go to a restaurant, but these ones are all spot on! The restaurant looked nice, and once you went inside you could definitely tell it used to be a Golden Corral. The seating areas were cafeteria like and the tables weren't all that clean, but it wasn't any worse than any other buffet I had gone to. Now for the food, that's where it got bad. It was bland and when I say everything was cold, EVERYTHING was cold. Though it looked like it was "steaming" it was immediately clear that this was a façade put on by the hot water under each serving dish. Even food that was "fresh" from the kitchen came out at room temperature at best. I didn't try most of the seafood as I didn't trust it just by the way it looked. I did, however, try the shrimp tempura, which I spit out immediately as the shrimp on the inside was not cleaned at all (poop vein still intact). The sushi, although being prepared right behind where it was laid out, tasted old and sad and had no labels as to what it was. The chicken wings tasted ok, but again were cold and seemed to have been sitting for quite some time. I can't say that any of the food could have even possibly saved this place. The French fries were by far the best thing there, and they were the mediocre run of the mill buffet fries that, quite frankly, are VERY hard to mess up. Congratulations to them on that I guess. We never even really saw our waitress/waiter. The gentleman who sat us took our drink order and we have no idea who brought those drinks as we were up browsing the food. It may have been one of the 2 women who took our plates at various times, but who really knows. We had to visit the front desk to even get our check. Overall, I can say I will not be returning to this buffet as it was one of the worst experiences I've had at a restaurant in a long time. I wouldn't even recommend anyone give them a try to see for themselves, as it's not even worth the $20 dinner price tag. Service was excellent and the food was delicious as well as the Ambiance. There is an awesome variety of food to also include awesome Sushi. The best way to enjoy all is to take a plate and fill it with a tiny amount of each - so you have like a "sampler" plate - then enjoy and go back and fill with another sampler. I went there for dinner and was a bit taken back. They had the same stuff they have at lunch but they had lobster,raw clam and oysters,snow crabs,and a few other shrimp dishes. The lobster was cut up in pieces but was good and the shrimp dishes were good, the snow crab legs were the worst instead of steaming them for only a few minutes they let the legs stay submerged in water the shells were getting soft and the meat which is always sweet and tasty was bland and breaking apart because they dont have a clue on cooking them. The sushi was not great at all it was dried and only a few on each serving plate. I went back 2 other times hoping for fresh sushi but the sushi person was just standing there and not making any new sushi. So i finally left the place and not sure if im going back read more

Finally, a really great Chinese buffet in Poughkeepsie. Everything was delicious. We tried the seafood medley, chicken, shrimp, beans, noodles....you name it, it was perfectly prepared. What a selection, there is something there for everyone! The price was very reasonable. For two adults, adding soft drinks and a tip (service was top notch) was $35. (It seems I spend that much at McDonalds now for adult meals!) The ambiance was very pleasant. We didn't feel rushed, yet the staff was on the spot to clear used dishes from the table. I don't think this place is going to make it for very long. It has all the same options as every other Chinese buffet but nothing stands out. Food is room temp chicken on a stick is very dried out with not much sauce . For a place making a fresh start it should be better. Won't be coming back. Another fail at the old Golden Corral. This place is outrageous! The food was cold or over cooked! The dessert cakes were hard. The place is way over priced unless you only want to go out for expensive cold seafood you won't want to go here. 90$ for three people to eat and we left hungry! This place is brand new and extremely expensive, so I had high hopes. However, those hopes were immediately dashed when my husband and I went there for dinner tonight. Pretty much everything (except the way over-salted chicken and broccoli) was COLD and they never brought out anymore. One halfway decent item was strips of steak they were cooking on the grill and cutting up into pieces, but again, they never put anymore out once it was gone. The price for dinner was a whopping $25 per person, which was downright ROBBERY when you consider the quality of the food, which was cheap and horrendous. It is obvious that the owner is a real cheapskate, and doesn't care about serving quality food at all. The spareribs looked SO disgusting that I didn't even bother trying them - they didn't have any red Asian sauce on them, and it looked like a vinegar based BBQ sauce. That is NOT what I come to a Chinese restaurant to eat! My husband tried one and said it was absolutely disgusting! The desserts were standard Chinese buffet fare ~ bland, awful and virtually inedible, and the only ice cream was in individual cups (they are too cheap to even have a soft ice cream machine for all that money they are charging). Instead, they have institutional ice cream cups, which looked like something you would see served in a PRISON, and they hide the cooler in the corner, so you only notice it on the way out the door. When the waitress asked how everything was, and we told her it was horrible, she practically begged for tips, saying that they don't even pay her a salary, and all she gets is tips. I believe that is illegal, but it doesn't surprise me from an owner who is shameless enough to serve this kind of vile swill, and charge those exorbitant prices. Obviously, we will never go back there, and I advise everyone reading this to save their money. My boyfriend and I thought we'd give this place a try for dinner since it's new. We will not be going back. Absolutely underwhelming and at $25 per person it's highway robbery! The food was barely warm and sparse. Every seafood dish tasted bad, my boyfriend feels sick. The sushi tasted fishy too, even the vegetarian. For that price per person I EXPECT VARIETY and QUALITY. I went to dinner there last night for the first time. Let me start by saying that I have gone to King Buffet in Courtlandt. The food there was excellent. That being said this restaurant was not great. There was hardly anyone in it on a Friday night at 6:30 at night. The food looks like it has been sitting there for a while. Save yourself the trouble.. Wanted to have a quick dinner with a friend and her young son. Decided to stop here since it's new business in our area and wanted to give it a try. The prices were high but that was no problem until we saw the quality of the food. They never put out anything new after one serving was placed out. The service is downright awful and the owner needs to get a grip. If you're charging a high price then the food should AT LEAST be edible. Halfway through dinner myself and my friends son felt ill and had to go to the bathroom because unfortunately the food was just not safe to eat to say the least. Mediocre at best. Dinner is expensive for what you get and the penny pinching tactics abound: Food is stocked to bare minimum in effort to discourage people from taking even a modest amount. Ice cream freezer is hidden all the way by the exit, far away from anything else, any other Desert options are nonexistent. Chinese buffet on saturday was very tasty and fresh so go down to king's buffet and see for your self plenty of lobster , shrimp, crab legs hot and cold drawn butter , also many traditional chineses and American dishes. As others have said: a new restaurant with a totally redone interior -- sleek and modern. They have some upgraded buffet items from the normal Chinese buffet and not all fried. Service is the typical standard get you seated, get your drink and bus your table concept. They do offer a senior discount but you have to ask for it. Definitely worth a second trip for sure. read more

Me and my two daughters decided to try this place for a girl's night out dinner and boy was we disappointed. The price for 3 people was $90 and none of the food is even worth that amount of money. Dog food probably would've been tastier not that I eat dog food but after eating at this place it has to be. I got so sick after, I had to run home to my bathroom and stayed there for at least 2 hours, guess my body rejected every morsel of food I ate. I tried the honey chicken, shrimps, pepper steak, stuffed mushrooms and fried rice that didn't even look like real fried rice. I am glad I didn't bring a doggie bag home probably would've had a trip to the hospital eating anymore. The food IS lukewarm as in other reviews and that was very disappointing. Some food you shouldn't eat at certain temperatures and this restaurant better get it together. We will definitely not be eating here again.
