I don't frequent Panera bread very often. Mostly because I'm not really a coffee drinker and have food allergies that I contend with so the options on the lunch menu are quite limited for me. I wound up at Panera and ordered a catering set up which included sandwiches for 12 people. I got the hot version which came in a sturdy cardboard box. I don't think they're full sandwiches so I also ordered a container of chili. The chili came with bread. It was really pricey after the tip was nearly $80. I'm not sure I would order catering from them again, but the food smelled good on my drive back over to the shop. And the technicians and mechanics seem very pleased to have something other than pizza. read more

Strongly not recommend ordering French onion soup. Not close to the cheese covered top version. Spikes of what looked like mozzarella cheese floating atop soup with croutons (?) sprinkled over top was the presentation. Temp was close to warm (not hot). Taste-- not something I wanted to repeat. This is my first time trying Panera Bread, and I am thrilled with the choice. I took some time looking at the menu online before coming here. It was busy when I arrived during lunchtime. The line was moving slowly, only having two registers open, which I found to be a turn off. When I was in line up next, the manager took care of another task without saying anything, and it took a couple of minutes until he finally came back to help me. I ordered the Chicken Bacon Rancher, with the option of half or whole bread, in addition to the chicken, being light, regular, or double, the chopped bacon being light, regular, or extra, the white cheddar light, regular, or extra, and the ranch light, regular, extra, or on the side. There's much to customize, and I just went with the regular for ALL. For the side, you have the option of free chips (which I got), french baguette, apple, or none. The fruit cup, though, will cost something. It took a good 10 minutes for all of it to come. During my wait, PB does an unlimited sip club, where you have the option of trying a wide variety of drinks. It is free for two months before becoming a member. I got a cup and went with a lemonade. It's been a WHILE since I'd ordered anything at Panera but I like their vanilla iced coffee and decided to grab lunch. I ordered the lunch combo which included a cup of soup and half a salad. It's a pretty good deal. I didn't want anything too heavy. It was a hot day and just wanted something on the lighter, wholesome side. Everything was good but I just remember things tasting better. Walked into Panera, the first thing I got was the strong smell of tobacco and vape that reaked through the front entry area. The waitress came over to us and she stunk like vape, we requested another seating area and they obigued us. Still the smell of vape was all over the restaurant. The bread is good, but it should be with a play on the word for bread in other languages. That's why the review is 2 stars and not a negative one star. It seems to be a glorified Dunkin Donuts. Why; I asked if they could make the toasted steak with white cheddar Medium/rare? The counterman said "it's already cooked". I didn't know if it would be over cooked and dry, so I asked for the 1/2 toasted frontega (what ever a frontega is) chicken sandwich and French onion soup. My friend had the 1/2 Texas smokehouse BBQ chicken sandwich and chicken noodle soup and a soda. They only had 30 ounce glasses, nothing smaller. 30 ounces! Why not make it a quart of soda; you wonder why Americans get obese?!!! She let the counter people know the ice dispenser was empty. It was eventually refilled. The onion soup was tepid. I asked a different counter person if they could replace or reheat it. He said there's a microwave up front under the coffee station. About 6" off the floor on a shelf. Very unprofessional I ordered something with the option of curb side pick up I waited 30 minutes after I arrived and the app said my order was ready. Very poorly managed location. Last three times I've been here, I've watched staff walk by and ignore pending Rapid Pick Up orders that were overdue. The orders were sitting behind the counter, awaiting final prep and delivery to the Pick Up box, but the staff just walked right by them even though the ordering line was short. The whole point is for Rapid Pick Up customers to bypass the line. Annoying. Even more annoying was seeing the dark-haired manager walk past the waiting Rapid Pick Up orders to visibly and pointedly chastise/express her displeasure to both cashiers. Quiet, but exaggerated facial expressions, etc. - you could imply the tone. Save the admonishment of cashiers for the back room - doing that in front of customers is bad form. read more

Dutchess County is so chock-full of amazing, independently-owned restaurants that there's almost never a reason to eat at a chain. However, I make an exception for Panera when I need to grab a quick bite. I'm in love with the tomato soup, the Mediterranean veggie sandwich, and the iced green tea. I've never had a bad experience here- the food comes out quick and fresh, there's plenty of seating, and the prices are reasonable. My one quibble? I used to ask for an apple as a side, but never received one that was bruise-free or crisp.
