We came into Torchy's for Saturday brunch today and were not disappointed. They have several ordering options. You can order online and pick it up, order at the counter and take it to a table or to go, or you can sit at the bar with bartender service. Since we were in no hurry, we opted to sit at the bar. The bartender was very friendly and was attentive, but had more people to serve than one person should in a place like this, so it was still a little slow to place an order. That said, once we ordered, everything was out in a flash. Very quick service. In the same vein, they have way too many seats at the bar and you are uncomfortably close to each other. The food is great. We had queso and a sampling of tacos and salsas. Nothing disappointed. The prices are very reasonable, particularly for their selection and the area. I've never been disappointed by the staff at this location. Francisca especially was incredibly gracious to me as I was making a bad financial decision to come and eat tacos. She needs a raise!! Overall this place is a 10/10! Super friendly workers and very clean! From the moment you walk in, you are greeted by the kind staff waiting to take your order at the register. Being my first time here, I had a few questions, and they answered every single one with ease! I narrowed down my selections to the vegan fried avocado taco and the not so vegan crossroads taco (contains beef). To top it off we got a side of the hillbilly queso and street corn (with extra ancho aioli). The cashier stated, "1 is a snack, 2 is a meal," so I got two tacos but boy are they huge! They are full of seasoning and flavors that combine just beautifully. I loved getting the sauce on the side, being able to put how much I want really enhanced the experience and allowed me to get just the right amount of sauce to taco ratio for me. The queso dip is phenomenal. No joke, probably the best I have ever had. We opted for the guacamole to be served on the side instead of inside but after trying both separately we quickly combined the two dips for the real thing! The street corn was not too bad either, very different from what I'm used to too but the aioli sauce had a nice kick to it that had me going back for another bite! We were there during happy hour but opted out of drinks for our meal, but I would definitely go back to try their signature sips! The shrimp tacos were good but not great. The fried avocado taco was alright. Their grilled fish taco was subpar. Their salsa was given to me in tiny tiny little ramicans which was just inconvenient if you ask me. The tortillas in all of my tacos tore and all of my tacos fell apart. Well, I'm going to be the first to admit, when I first heard of Torchy's I was very skeptical. "Tacos in Dallas!?" I thought to myself "groundbreaking" but with a reluctant push I did come in, and I must admit, I truly was blown away. Don't expect a traditional Mexican experience here, because that's not what you'll get, this cuisine is COMPLETELY different to a point where it should be classified in a different category all together, but if you want a truly CREATIVE, delicious and FUN take on tacos then this might be your place. The food is good and all homemade, ALL of it, the margaritas are amazing, and the service is even better. If you're lucky enough to get Natalia behind the bar you're in luck! She's an incredible bartender - speedy, fun, full of recommendations, welcoming, and talented. She's had everything on the menu at least once and gave me and my partner wonderful recommendations that we both truly enjoyed.
