Beware their menu prices are NOT the same as what rings up when you check out. Which is literally fraud. Not okay. We called them on this and they said they raised the prices. But you didn't on the sign so that's literally fraud. The food is good so 3 stars for the lies and attempts to steal by having menu prices that are not real. Comal Street Tacos has been around for years, but this was our first time giving it a try. The taco plate comes with three tacos, and it's nice that you can choose up to two different styles. The gentleman who took our order was attentive and made sure to ask whether we wanted rice and cilantro on each plate. Our two orders of taco plates came with three small salsas. I started with the green salsa, thinking the red would have more kick, but both were surprisingly spicy! A few drops were more than enough for me. The asada/steak and brisket tacos were definitely our favorites. The pollo/chicken was good, but it didn't stand out as much. I appreciated that they served the tacos with lime, though the lime was a bit too dry to get more than a few drops out of. Each taco was served with three small tortillas, and though that seemed like a lot at first, it worked to help keep the tacos from falling apart. My daughter tried the agua de jamaica for the first time and loved it, but I would have preferred it to be a little less sweet. There were other items on the menu that caught my eye, so we'll definitely be back to try more. We may also trying dining in. The restaurant was very clean and had several tables. I had grabbed Togo from Comal street tacos after having passed it a number of times before. I had been kind of glad I did togo because it was a little bit of a mess during my visit. Though staff was nice enough during my visit. Let them know my name and I had a pick up, and I got my food a few minutes later. The tacos were decent enough, not my favorite, but ok enough. The enchiladas I had picked up ended up not being good. I was glad we had order things to split, cause I wouldn't have finished them if it had been the only thing I had gotten. I may stop if I'm there in need of a quick taco fix in that immediate area, but I don't know if I would go out of my way for it again. read more

I was hungry for street tacos and decided to have lunch here. I chose the Special Taco Plate lunch special for $6.99 with the asada tacos. I assume the Taco Plate for $9.45 on the menu comes with more rice and beans. The cheaper lunch version had plenty of food to satisfy my hunger. As others have mentioned, the green salsa had the right amount of heat and flavor. Since the tacos had two layers of tortilla, the salsa did not cause the tacos to break apart. Paper towel dispensers were only placed at some tables and none were seen elsewhere in the restaurant. Since eating the tacos can get messy, sitting at a table without a dispenser can be a problem. I entered the restaurant from the rear entrance which had a signage stating face masks were mandatory. When I approached the front of the restaurant, most of the customers were not wearing one. Neither of the two employees wore them correctly. When I left the restaurant through the front door, I did not see a signage about face masks. My go to for nearby tacos now. Ordered to go. There were no other customers so it was quick. Tried asada tacos, pastor, lengua, chicken and one more I can't remember. These are the small white corn tortilla type. Don't forget to ask for the Chile torreado if you like heat. The winning salsa here was the green one, full of flavor and hot. My favorite most tender meat here was the lengua. Al pastor could use some pi apple chunks for fun. I also ordered a flan. Don't mind the picture. That flan went through it on the way home. Terrible Customer Service - Won't Be Returning I had a very disappointing experience at Comal Street Tacos. From the moment I walked in, the customer service was poor. I simply asked the cashier for a cup of water, and she told me they don't have any--only bottled water for sale. That alone felt a bit ridiculous. Then, I was charged more than what was displayed on the menu board. When I pointed it out, I was told I'd have to wait for the manager. After waiting because he was "busy in the back," he finally came out and told me they had changed prices two days ago and hadn't updated the board yet. But instead of acknowledging the mistake, he just said he couldn't adjust the price--even though it's clearly false advertising. On top of that, he was incredibly rude and dismissive about it. As for the food: it's just okay. The tacos and sopes weren't anything special, and the menudo honestly tasted like it came from a can. Definitely not worth the price or the hassle. Won't be going back, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who values decent service or transparency. read more

Always looking for new places to try and Comal did not disappoint. Appreciated the patience of the gentleman behind the counter as it took me a bit to order. Chose the street taco plate w chicken and pork. I loved it so much I'm already thinking about my order tomorrow! It was a to go order and I'm not the most careful carrying things so photos do not do it justice. I LOVED the green salsa. The Red was a bit spicy for me but still delicious. Salsa comes in small containers and although it was plenty for me you may want to pay the 35 cents extra for more. I also chose a treat with the flan! Best dessert I've had in awhile! Tucked away like it is, this is an easy place to overlook, BUT DON'T! I've only had the Asado (beef steak) and Al Pastor (marinated pork) tacos, but they are both WONDERFUL! At $1.95 each, they are a VERY affordable lunch! They are served like street tacos, on small corn tortillas (2 per taco), with your meat of choice and optional cilantro and onions. Each taco order is accompanied by hot sauce (I prefer the red over the green) and a lime wedge. There are many other things on the menu that look (and smell) wonderful, but I am an animal of habit.
