The owner was sitting down talking to some customers when I walked in, but he quickly got up when he saw that another customer walked into place an order -- A+ on service and hospitality already. He was super friendly when I asked if the special was still available. I ordered an elote and ate it while I waited for the tacos, it was so good that I asked for a second cup for my husband. A small mango margarita was also on the house as i waited; definitely a nice little treat! When we got home, the tacos were still hot and it was SO good. I've never had Trompo tacos before but if this is what it tastes like, I'm in love. The place is inside of a relatively clean and bright gas station. You can see into the kitchen and it's also clean. Been here twice. Hate that it's next to a mortuary so we've coined it crematorium tacos. First time ordered later in the afternoon, barbacoa and Trompo to try it and it was fresh, warm. Second time, spent almost $80 to try everything and only thing worth it was the Trompo. Everything was unseasoned or just seemed old. Torta was nice, but Trompo is really all there is. I most definitely did not order a breakfast burrito without eggs and furthermore would not take time out of my day to write a review. You may be the owner and you may have prepared the food however it was a woman who took my order and it was obvious she did not speak great English. I don't want or need a refund. First time here so I went for two corn tortilla tacos. Tacos will tell you everything about the rest of the food. It's located inside a convenience store. You order at the counter they give you a piece of paper with the amount and then you walk it over to the register where you pay and then you get a receipt and walk it back to the counter. It's slow paced so come with patience. I ordered barbacoa and one trompo with everything. The tacos had a generous serving of meat. The barbacoa was well seasoned maybe needed a tiny sprinkle of salt but it was perfectly tender and it was nice and fatty. The trompo was not my favorite. They chop it really tiny but it was a bit crispy and extremely red. The most red trompo meat I've ever seen. They accompany their tacos with onions , cilantro , limes, grilled onions, and a potato. They included two salsas one green and one red. The green has more heat but it's creamy and the red is less hot but Smokey. I combined the two and that seemed to be the perfect balance. I appreciate that the salsas were actually hot. That's the point. They do have some small tables but the place isn't very welcoming. Best to take it to go. I always have insulated bags in my car. read more

Don't sleep on this place. I had the tacos de asada and they were great. The meat was seasoned perfectly. My bf had the Torta del Reyno, not only was it massive it was delicious. The customer service was excellent as well. Definitely a hidden gem. Coming back to try their snacks. read more

So delicious! I saw this place posted in the MidCities foodie page on Facebook, and noticed it was down the street from me. I showed it to my husband who decided to go grab me some trompo tacos as a surprise for lunch. We got half on corn and half on flour and each order came with a seasoned half potato, caramelized onions and onions and cilantro. We were very impressed! The meat had a great flavor and the green sauce had a great spice to it. My husband said the guys at the counter were super friendly. Doing further research, their micheladas look amazing so we'll definitely be back to try some. read more
