Slightly expensive for what you get buuut they've got some decent tacos. My gripe is that they close at least an hour too early. They should a better drink menu alcohol and non. I expected more. read more

Speaks for itself! Damn good tacos. I'm happy this place opened in town. There's one close to where I used to live in the Austin area and I sure missed it! This location just opened recently and they've got it exactly right! The staff is so cool too. Head on over and get you a damn good taco! Lol Also, I highly recommend "The Wrangler" breakfast taco. Brisket, egg, potato, and cheese? Yesssss read more

Look, the food is good, and the queso is probably my favorite in town. You'll be paying a bit more for the fancy tacos than you would at other places, but you probably knew that. Their brisket is somehow better than several of the bbq joints in town, so I highly recommend the Crossroads taco. My complaint is that the place is really tight on the inside for such a popular property. They opted for a huge outdoor section and a horse shoe bar instead of more indoor spacing. Also, the sofa fountain is situated in a. Corner behind the bar, so you'll be bumping into folks trying to get your fancy soda. read more

I have driven passed the restaurant a few times always curious to know what's inside. So I finally took the wife here to try it out. It was definitely a different experience compared to your national chains but was worth the money. I got the double wide tacos. It was a chicken fried steak taco which was different because a lot of people would say that chicken fried steak doesn't belong on a taco but who cares it was tasty! But the biggest kicker to me was the hillbilly queso and chips. It was pretty much queso with chorizo but was so tasty. Me and the wife loved every bit of it. The drink selection was much to be desired. It was a lot of local drinks that had a different taste to it so I was not used to it. Other than that it does get a little pricey but it was definitely worth checking out! read more

Torchy's Tacos - The double wide (chicken fried steak taco) - Tacos Near Me - Denton, Texas

This is just one of those places you just have to try. Each taco is unique in ingredients and flavor. You'll want to try them all! If you're into spicy stuff, the Brushfire is seriously tasty and easily my favorite taco here. Something about mangos, jalapeño & cilantro that just pairs perfectly together. And that orange Diablo sauce, whatever it is, has a dangerous kick to it. Try it! read more

Honestly I was expecting a lot more from here. I tried their carnitas and fried chicken tacos and they were so salty! Their service however was really great. Since it was our first time they gave us free chips and queso which was really good and the burrito we ordered was also decent but apart from that it doesn't stand out from other businesses. read more

Ordered a large queso and got a half of cup that I'm sure the manager went and poured right into the container after the girl brought it out and it was a to go order. It was cold and not worth it at all. Will definitely never return to this location, sucks when you can't trust the manager to do the right thing. read more

Had the catfish and the fried chicken tacos which seem to be the crowd favorites. They were both good. There's is a lot of room to sit outside here and eat and plenty of parking in their private lot. read more

Excellent tacos and a wide selection. I had the shrimp, carnitas and the fried avocado. All were excellent. The chips a salsa were a step above. They were fresh and delicious. I will definitely go back. read more

Good as all their chains. Queso is among the best ever. Avacado sauce is outta this world! I typically stick with the fajitas and they never do me wrong. I recommend without hesitation. read more

Heard a lot about Torchy's, came and tried out their queso and tacos. The jalapeños white queso was good. But the tacos were disappoint. Meat was flavorless , the taco skins were in between soft and hard. The service was good though , the employees were friendly, the place had a good vibe. But not the tacos read more

Really like Torchys tacos! I find myself wanting their tacos weekly! My family and i enjoy the family meals most of the time. Never ever had an issue with the quality of their food. Would give 5 stars, but 5 out of the last six times something was missing frome my order. The first 4 times it was always the queso, so i knew to check for it. Yesterday i went in, picked up my order, checked for queso, once i confirmed it was there i was happy. BUT when i got home i realized there was no beans and rice, big part of a family meal..... The kitchen here is pretty bad at checking orders consistently. Fortunately the food is good, and the staff is very nice and helpful, the only reasons i keep coming back..... read more

Visiting from San Antonio. Good service and took down custom breakfast taco order for my family at open! Fresh and tasty tacos, like the eggs and sauces here! read more

Normally a big fan of Torchy's. The food here was as good as others, but, especially during COVID, this place was filthy. Denton positive COVID numbers are rising fast, but this location didn't have tables spaced/closed and nearly every single table had food junk all over the tables and the seats. And this was around 11:30 AM, so it's not like the day had been long. I sure hope it wasn't closed the night before having remained in that disgusting state. As most places are touting that they are cleaning significantly more often and closing every other table to maintain distancing, this location was doing neither. Not very bright. read more

Terrible food the most uncomfortable seating ( especially enjoyed the metal pole to the knee when I went to squeeze into the booth there's about 5" of clearance on either side. 6' 200lbs I'm not a huge guy.) The avocado tacos were 90% lettuce. The Baja shrimp tacos were bland and the atmosphere was something out of a bad 70s movie set. First time to eat at Torchys definitely the last. Not even going to elaborate on the freak show staffing. Left after eating 3 bites of food. read more

I have heard all kinds of good things about this place. Overall, the service was about average. The cashier was pleasant enough and very patient with us. It took a while for us to digest the menu and come to conclusions. Each of us got the street corn as a side, it was a real crowd pleaser! I loved the Baja shrimp taco, I recommend it for those who like shrimp. We will come back so I can try the fried avocado taco! read more

Torchy's Tacos - Tacos Near Me - Denton, Texas

Went today to have lunch after getting some of my daughter's belongings in the apartment. I had never seen it so empty. We ordered and waited and waited and waited for our drinks. When our food finally came out, we inquired about our drinks. That's when they started to make them. I was 1 bite away from being done w/ my meal before the drinks finally showed up. The mojitos were not good at all. It was mainly soda water... no mint no nothing. It was very disappointing. Meal was tasty!!! read more

11 am cashier was extremely rude! Queso was amazing as always, and the food service was quick. Everything was clean-only downfall was the first point of contact. Maybe she should not be in that position!!!! read more

My first visual impression, Torchy's is a fancy taco house. The full bar and interior were very visually appealling. Then, I saw the menu board and my first thought was yeah, Im paying for that interior. The price per taco was double was I was expecting. Now, Im not a small guy and Im used to eating 5-6 tacos as a meal. I asked the cashier how many tacos people order on average and he stated probably two. So, I ordered two both with corn tortilla; one carnitas geen chile and one jamaican jerk chicken. Chips n queso and a shiner beer. And, I was not disappointed. The taco filling was twice what Im used to, very tasty and filling. read more

No COVID precautions taken AT ALL tables are the same as pre-covid, bar seats are shoulder to shoulder. No waiting space for to go orders. I was very shocked to walk in tonight to no empty tables and every bar seat filled. With no dedicated to go area I had to stand in the midst of it all. VERY disappointed that they were not limiting capacity in any way. Food was ice cold which is angering considering I had to sit around and wait for it. I only live 5 minutes from torchys.. my food could not have gotten cold in that time. My tortilla was soggy and the queso was only half full. They also didn't include the sauces I asked for. Very disappointed. read more

Decided to try Torchy's today since I was in the area.. probably won't go again. Much better taco choices in Denton. I'm disappointed. It took a very long time to get my order.. about 25mins and other people who ordered after me got their food first. Doesn't seem like the workers want to be there. Got home first bite of the crossroads was full of unchewable fatty brisket... the rest was ok. The other two I ordered I got pictures of and they were ok.. the shrimp Baja was very salty and there wasn't much fish in the Alabama shake. Maybe it just wasn't for me but I expected more for nearly $5 tacos and I love tacos. I had such high hopes since I've heard such good things and had Torchy's is Fort Worth 3 years ago and it was delicious. read more

I thought I would love having a Torchy's nearby, but the food was lacking today. I may have nostalgia for how I remember the tacos in Austin, but the tacos at the Denton location just seemed under-seasoned or something, especially the Democrat. Service was great and the dining area was acceptably clean, and I'll most likely visit again to see if it was a fluke. read more

Where's the sauce? Ordered delivery and there's no sauce, normally it's there, but not today. The food tends to be too spicy for me, but the wife likes it. But I can't knock em for spiciness since their name is Torchy's Tacos. read more

Not terrible, not great. Just okay. Over $5 for 1 taco that tastes exactly how you'd expect a taco made by white folks to taste. With so many authentic taquerias around Dallas, I can't see myself going back and paying twice as much for tacos 1/2 as good. The highlights were the great queso and the friendly staff. The tacos are just okay. read more

Torchy's queso is something to write home about. After moving away, I knew when i came back to visit, I needed to get queso right away. I also would highly recommend the breakfast tacos - you honestly can't really go wrong with what you choose! ThIs location is really nice and has a good sized dining area. read more

So good!!! Love the Tipsy Chicken Taco. Fun atmosphere, good music. Decent bar, except once they only had one Miller Lite left. Miss the off brand soda fountain bar tho. read more

Love most of the Torchy locations. Not so much this one. Crew looks like they are asleep and customers are just a bother. Food is incredibly slow to come out. Manager here needs to pay attention. Place is empty at same time of day when others are jumping. We stopped while on a road trip. Never again. read more

The food at Torchy's can be hit or miss, with it being good most of the time. The one thing that bothers me is the overall cleanliness of the place. On several occasions, we have walked in to Torchy's to discover that half of the tables inside have not been cleaned. In addition to this, this location smells like a gas station bathroom. I would also like to add that I do find it a little frustrating that they offer tipping as an option when we serve ourselves and bus our own tables. I'm all for providing tips to waiters, I just don't like the pressure of having to tip when no service is involved. read more

The trailer park taco make it trashy with queso and lettuce is always my favorite. Green Chile queso with chorizo and fresh homemade chips are a must try! I love their sangria as well. Love love love torchys! read more

Tacos. What more do you need to know? Oh, wait, they also have amazing queso! We tried the new street corn this time and it was ok. We love that they have a bar (for the weekends) but we love our tacos TRASHY! (aka smothered in queso). The chips are golden and beautiful and fresh. I like the customer service. They take really good care of you, they are very accommodating and don't rush you. So when you walk in there are menus and you go to the counter and order. They give you a number or a buzzer and they bring out your chips and queso first, then they bring your tacos etc. They also serve breakfast tacos ALL DAY! Their brisket is amazing, the trailer park is the kids favorite (trashy of course), and my wife likes anything with seafood on it. Typically she has shrimp tacos of some sort. There is plenty of seating. If you are feeling like you aren't going to get a seat when you walk in, trust me, you will find a spot. The place moves fast! FOUNTAIN DRINKS! So, they don't have your normal run-of-the-mill Coke, DP, Sprite...they have Mexican Coke, Doppleganger (like Dr. Pepper), and other "knock off" drinks. Let me tell you they taste much better than the name brands you are used to. They also have a couple of tea options. There are diet drinks also, but again, not your typical stuff. Don't be scared, try something new!!! You will love it!!! Oh, and they have some really cute T's! read more

I just spent $61 on dinner for four that I had to serve to myself. A taco stand should not be $5 per taco with no combo options. Way too expensive. Not worth it. read more

Visited torchy's for the first time last night. Now as a taco "joint" it's kind of on the expensive side... The tacos/bowls are very creative and were good... I like the one with the brisket in it the best. The queso was good as well. It's very difficult to mess up cheese dip. If you're like me & you like your margaritas,(I always base places like this on their margaritas), for the amount of money that you pay you're getting a small water glass that is full of ice and honestly after having two margaritas each and mine was the "Patron" margarita we never felt the effects of them. After $48 on margaritas I'd skip that part. Also when you walk in and order your food at the counter there's a place to tip on your debit card... If you do order anything from the bar the bartender that makes your drinks does not get any of that tip so if you know what it's like to work in the bar business walk up to the bar and order your drinks there instead of ordering them from the counter with the food. Atmosphere was nice and a very large patio outside with lots of seating... So I have to say after spending $78 for three people and small, iced down margaritas, I like Rusty's Tacos on the square so so so much better. read more

Hot and new, more like cold and eww!!!! Worst Torchy's food and experience I've ever had. I eat at Torchy's quite often for the past few years, mostly in Austin at the original location. So I know what I should get and what I got was horrible. To start, the queso came out after the food and it like the food was cold. The numbers on the table similar to whataburger is a fail fail fail. The waitstaff walks around the location in circles looking for the customer. What a mess!!!! By the time they walk around the inside and outside with your food it arrives cold and meh to say the least. I got the chicly fajita, loaded with cold red peppers and no onions or green peppers. It was trash, kinda wet, cold and just a damn bad taco! Next up I ate the trailer park, I admit the piece of fried chicky was good but the amount of green hatch Chile peppers was wayyy to much. Get your act together over there! Went back a second time and shame on me. Was terrible........... read more

First time at Torchy's since it opened. Wow. What a neat treat and welcome surprise to the taco scene here in Denton. Had lunch there today. I had a brisket taco and a shrimp taco. Wow- really, really good. Great presentation. Lots of stuff in the taco...... well worth coming back to try and many other tacos they offer. I'm a fan. I will return and soon.
