For fast casual, this is one of the slowest restaurant experiences I have experienced in a while. After we ordered, there wasn't even a place for us to sit. They shouldn't take orders for people they can't seat. Ordering from the kiosk was a joke so we ordered with a person who wasn't much better. We waited 35 minutes for our food. I have seen the servers take food back to the kitchen more often than being food out. Luckily the food tastes great, but the wait is not worth the price. There were two other customers placing an order with the computer and they seemed confused and needed help. Went in for an early dinner on a Friday afternoon. Pleasantly surprised to find the place bustling but no real wait. Sit at the bar or order from the counter, both seemed easy. I was at the counter, no drinks today. Had the Grande Burrito Bowl with green chili pork. Whole bowl portioned properly with decent flavors. Roja sauce and Poblano Ranch were both good on top. Torchy's Tacos 07-15-24 The restaurant was clean. We had no wait for lunch. The employees were friendly and helpful. We started off with an appetizer of Guacamole & Chips. It was flavorful and fresh. It was a little spicy but not too spicy. We had two Street Tacos - 1 Fried Avocado on a Corn Tortilla and a Baja Shrimp on a Corn Tortilla. 2 Beef Fajita and 1 Chicken Fajita on Flour Tortilla. 1 Beef Fajita Grande Burrito. Always is incredibly slow, it's if they have one person in the kitchen. My taco is made correctly 10% of the time. I'm not exaggerating. No one is at the front anymore, so when the kiosks malfunction (which is often), or you want to order a drink and it asks for employee login, you are stuck there waiting for sometimes 15 minutes until someone can be flagged down. They hire apathetic gen z'ers, so good luck getting them to care or notice anything on their own. Then you're in for the long, long wait for just one taco. If you selected "to go" at the start of your entire order, also expect your food or drink to randomly be dine-in. My family ate here Sunday at 1:00 pm. The food was very good, but the restaurant was filthy. The small trash can for straw paper but the drinks was overflowing all over the counter. The counter was wet. Lids and lemons were everywhere. It was that way when we arrived and still that way when we left. Tables were dirty. Sometimes an employee would clear tables but never wiped them down. Customers were having to clean tables before they could sit down. Not very appetizing. read more

My first visit had a few bumps BUT I can tell that there's so much potential for this place to be great. The service was nice and the recommendations were good ones. There was a hiccup with the to-go margarita. The bartender was missing for a bit so we sat with the food waiting for him to come back and make the drink. But nonetheless it was good when we got it. The chips and queso by far was my favorite! I ordered the brush fire and trailer park tacos. The brush fire taco was had some good flavor and a really nice amount of spice. The only down side was that the chicken was not fully cooked so I had to finish cooking the chicken before enjoying the taco. Overall, I enjoyed Torchy's and would give them another try. read more

I always thought this place was going to be overrated. Roughly over $4.50 for a taco? One taco. Seriously. Well it turned out to be absolutely worth it. The tacos are not overpriced as they are decently big tacos. I have the Baja shrimp taco, trailer park taco, the beef burrito, and chips and salsa from Torchy's. Outstanding. The Trailer Park (get it "trashy") is excellent. Nothing was bad or mediocre. It's fresh and really, really good. The staff is super friendly. Special shout to Mary who was tending the bar. She brought our beers and was just super friendly and helpful. The dining area isn't huge but we haven't had trouble finding a place to sit and pretty clean. These are really good tacos. I want to try others but I love the Trailer Park so much it's all get. Well worth a visit. Highly recommended. I always forget to snap pics because the food is so good I eat it before I remember. After visiting here at least once a month since moving to Denton, it occurred to me I have never done a review. Been to a good half dozen or more Torchy's locations and this one is my favorite. I like the layout; service is always the absolute best and the food portions seem to be extra generous. I often get the taco or the month which is nearly always a flavor sensation. When not getting that the Green Chili Pork and the Brushfire are my favorites. I also get the Mr. Orange often. For my wife it is the Democrat and Baja Shrimp. She sometimes does one of the breakfast tacos instead. Green Chili Queso is a must, but can be spicy depending on who is preparing an their Guacamole is excellent. We always take something home for later. This location nd this food has become our "comfort food" and I can' be happier. read more

What can I say - great food, amazing queso, great service, full bar...tried the burrito today instead of my usual tacos since the fried avocado taco was no longer on the menu. (insert crying face here). The burrito is HUGE...definitely enough for two people to share! Only complaint - I hate cilantro and they put it on literally everything. I had never heard of Torchy's until deciding to stop in randomly while hunting for a spot during my lunch break. I ordered the Kingpin taco (carnitas) and an order of the green chile queso. Usually Torchy's is great. Today, not so much . I only get 30 minutes for lunch so I have to get it to go. Ordered a Democrat, flour tortilla, and a Crossroads, flour tortilla and no avocado. I've seen so many chain taco spots since arriving to Texas, so the first opportunity I had I stopped at Torchy's in the UNT college area near North lake. My server Chelsea was attentive, kind and answered all of my questions. My food came fairly quickly, but was a bit cold when I got to it because I went to the bathroom after ordering. I made it known I'd be going to the restroom and granted I didn't say for how long, but I would've preferred if food service waited until I got back so my food could remain hot. The bathrooms were clean as well though. There weren't many other people there at 10am so it was quiet. For the food, the highlight was definitely the beef brisket. Tender, good color, and flavor. The cheese on the taco could've been melted and the ingredients better incorporated. I noticed the tortilla strips were cooked into the egg which was nice to have in each bite but I missed the crunch of the strips. I wish the pico, cheese, brisket and chillies were cooked into the egg instead with avo and tortilla strips to top. That would've done more for the flavor and texture of each element coming through clearly but also for cohesion on the palate. The tomatillo salsa was a highlight, great flavor and color. Coming from CA, the price was a highlight too. I spent $10 total including tip and was full after eating. Overall, this was an enjoyable breakfast taco because these are all elements I enjoy and would cook for myself, but the execution could've been a bit better. We have been going to Torchys for years. I'm vegan so I've been loving their fried avocado tacos ALL.THIS.TIME, being told the green V items in the menu are vegan. Today, 8/28/20, I was informed these are not vegan. The avocados are dipped in buttermilk before frying and the beans have something in them. Thank you to the very informative female attendant!! You have been very helpful. She adjusted my taco to a fresh avocado slices, minus the beans. Boo to any other attendant I have told I'm vegan and they didn't pick up on what I was ordering. They didn't seem to mind we weren't wearing a mask and there wasn't any table distancing going on. For these reasons alone, we'll be back. But alas, I have had a few bad experiences lately prompting me to take the Denton store on University to task. One of my favorite tacos on the menu is their Mr Orange, a salmon taco.
