Cookie is the best! I have very thick, curly hair and haven't been very successful in finding the right stylist until Cookie. I showed her a pic of the haircut I wanted, she patiently listened to me rant about my hair and started right away. In 30 mins I got the exact style I wanted. Very efficient and friendly. She's been doing this for 30 years! She's also very busy and gets booked out very far. You can park in the garage and walk by and let her know you are there. She'll let you in. After jumping around places to get my hair cut for awhile I finally settled with this place and haven't gone anywhere else since. Her name - Cookie. Sounds kind of funny but she cuts great hair. When I call in to make an appointment I don't even have to mention my name and she knows who I am and when she is cutting my hair she will ask me if I want my 'usual'. The only downsides of this place is that she is always super busy. Scheduling a appointment probably has a 2-3 day wait unless someone canceled something during that day. It's also kind of hard to find, it's in a strip mall near an entrance to 520 in redmond. The pricing is very reasonable as well, definitely worth giving a shot if you need your hair cut. read more

Walked in because the window literally says walk ins welcome. But she told me she only does appointments. Kind of confusing. She still did my hair, which was really nice of her, but I didn't like how it turned out. She did seem a little standoffish toward me compared to her other customers. This is probably a decent place if you have a certain kind of hairstyle in mind, and mine wasn't it. It's a cash only establishment, which I didn't see on any signs anywhere. Cuc has been cutting my hair for 25 years. She is the best. Easy to talk to, just cuts it the way I like it, and always gets me in even last minute. If she ever retires I don't know what I'll do. Cash or check only. Sometimes I forget and have to come back and pay her later. read more

I just moved to Redmond after living in West Seattle for a few years and I had an established salon that I frequented regulary over there. After moving I wasn't looking for a lot - just a place that was quick and had reasonable prices. Basically, I didn't want to have to go to Gene Juarez. Hallelujah, I found it! Cookie is so nice! I genuinely enjoyed our conversation and she gave me the exact cut that I was looking for for $30! I was in at 2:30 and out by 3:00 with a shampoo, cut, and style. Fabulous. They also offer manicures and pedicures (spa or not spa), waxing, color, basically anything you would need in the $20-$25ish arena. FYI - they do not take credit cards. I had to run over to the 7-11 and get cash. Also, if you want an appointment on a weekend I would recommend calling on Monday. They seem to book up very quickly. read more

I went back to Cookie for a cut this morning and was just as happy as the first time. It has been a long time and she remembered me, that I was just married and where I went on my honeymoon. I was impressed! She is so quick and was able to shampoo, cut, blow dry and flat iron my hair all in thirty minutes. It looks great and I am so happy with the results. Plus, it is $25! I have tried a few places before I started getting my haircuts from Cookie. She is friendly accommodating, very efficient and has figured out quickly how I like my hair cut. Poor service. Scheduled with cookie three days in advance. She mistakenly placed me in at a different time. Two others walked in during my thought to be scheduled time. She didn't care, shrugged it off and didn't try to solve the issue. I clarified twice the time was 5:30 not 5 as she had me down. My husband gets off work at 5 so I would never have made that appointment. With three small kids it is difficult to fit haircuts into my schedule. It's appalling how she could have cared less. I've been going to Cuc for over 20 years! Even when I have lived outside of the state I would have her do my hair while I was home to visit. I still travel in from Federal Way because she is just that good. I have in the past tried other salons closer to home, but EVERY TIME I go to her afterwards to have her fix the mistakes. Cookie listens to what you want and gives you suggestions accordingly. She fixed my bluntly chopped hair with great layers and I am very happy that I considered going to her. She is located right next to Bangkok Basil ( Thai Restaurant ) in Redmond. She does not have a website and mostly works by word of mouth. Prices are reasonable and service is great. I went here to get my nails done and the gal was super nice, however she had just gotten finished doing a pedicure on a guy and I DID NOT see her wash her hands before she started on my nails. The polish selection was so small, and the polishes were scattered on one of the hair styling stations on a counter, it seemed very strange. read more

The way I discovered Toppers Hair Salon was by going online looking for a salon that had a highly rated hairdresser in my area that was reasonably priced. I read all positive reviews about Cookie and did not hesitate for a minute to give her a call and set up an appointment for a shampoo, cut and style. I booked an appointment with toppers but I was sick and cudnt make and I didn't give them a cal back that I can't make for my appointment that was my mistake...I got a cal from toppers I don't know who ever it is ..she was very rude..she asked me not to take any more appointments from them next time..it's really embarrassing. for the first time I hav experienced this kind of call..so sorry to say this but that's really a bad way of talking and never I'm going to this salon again. read more

I have to say, I'm always skeptical when I see consistent five-star reviews on Yelp. However, Toppers really does live up to this standard! After a botched haircut at Gene Juarez Academy (never again...), I saw Toppers as my bus passed by on my commute to work. Needless to say, my experience was excellent. Cookie is attentive, skilled, and kind. She was able to fix my hair within 15 minutes and charged half as much as many of the other salons I've gone to. I will be returning to Toppers for all of my future cuts. She has my business for life! read more

I called about 4 days in advance to make an appointment and was pleasantly surprised that she was able to take me in for an appointment. A customer where I work at referred me to her so I decided to take a chance because I've been looking to get my hair lightened or get a foil and root touch up with a great hair stylist. Well, I got there about 10 minutes late because I got lost which was bad on my part, so I would've understood if she wanted to reschedule but she was rude to me from the moment I got there, especially after she looked at my hair (I have dark/light brown hair with a little bit of an auburn hue) and saw what I was asking for. She was getting frustrated because she didn't understand really what I was asking for even when I showed her pictures... then she proceeded to say she usually only sees people she knows and that she wasn't sure she could do what I was asking for, then I told her I have dyed my hair before and she said that because I didn't tell her this on the phone before, she probably won't do my hair at all because it might turn out a different color than I want, and she kept on saying that over and over and over again until I would finally leave...not that I was questioning her, I was even agreeing with her to make her stop saying that!! So she just didn't want to it at all... not even to reschedule my hair appointment. She refused to do my hair. I have never heard of any salon refusing you service for any reason, especially for all the excuses she gave me, it was appalling and very frustrating. I did take her advice into consideration, but I was still very disappointed that I couldn't get my hair done at all with someone "as good" as her because I have been wanting to lighten my hair or get a foil for a long time. I was very mad after I left. I said it was fine to her after she said sorry, because I didn't want to be rude, but I regret that. Would give 0 stars if possible. This was by far the worst hair experience I've ever had and trust me I've been to some bad salons. I went to Cookie the first time for a trim, it wasn't great but it could have been worse. I told her I like my hair angled, not just straight across. Once she was done, it was a blunt straight-across cut. No angle whatsoever and I had to go home and fix it myself. That should have been my first clue to never come back but then she was telling me how great she is at foils and getting hair really blonde. (My hair is naturally light brown and i had been getting full foils done somewhere else for a few months so my hair was a really nice bleach blonde. My hair is also very long and well taken care of) Anyways I got sucked in to setting up an appointment with her. Long story short, she left the foils in way too long and when I went home I felt my roots and the whole top of my head felt like melted barbie doll hair. Over the next few days, my hair started breaking off. The whole top layer of my hair was nothing but little fried stubs. And this was at the roots where it was breaking off so it was healthy, never bleached hair with no previous damage that she destroyed. This was a year ago when this happened and the broken off hair is still only about 4 inches long when the rest of my hair is waist-length. I will say that she seems like a really nice person, but really should not have her cosmetology license. Never come here to get your roots done!! read more
