I'm disappointed with my experience at this hair studio. I believe Thien was on vacation so I was serviced by another lady. With the high number of recent positive reviews I am sorely shocked and embarrassed by my haircut. I asked for a 2 inch trim and straight across cut. No layers. Pretty simple haircut I would think. The haircut lasted at most 15 minutes and felt very rushed. She went straight in for the cut without holding her fingers to my hair and asking me if this amount is ok or if I wanted more or less. She didn't compare the length and from the front, my left and right sides are uneven. After she did the trim she went in and randomly hacked away at my hair with the layering scissors. I was too surprised and anxious to ask her stop in the moment. I left the salon with hair that looks choppy and grossly uneven from the front and strback. I will not return and do not recommend going here for a women's cut. read more

Sadly disappointed by the service I had. I went in for a walk-in appointment and was sat down at a dirty station before being moved over. The stylist was alone and so she had to keep leaving me every 2 minutes to answer the phone. I showed a reference photo of what I wanted done and I don't feel like I received it. Looking at my hair, it feels like the cut was rushed. There are uneven pieces and a lot more was cut off than the one inch I asked for. I'm growing my hair out for my wedding next year so losing the length I asked to keep is making me really sad. read more

Thien did an amazing job! I was a walk in and she took me right away, which I was quite pleased about. I was going from a shoulder length mullet that I had grown out to a pixie. She asked for a picture which I gladly showed. Afterwards, she explained the cut with some features she left for me and asked if I liked it or wanted anything else. It was exactly what I wanted! Today was my first time visiting Thien and she did an amazing job! She was able to fit me in very quickly and was so accommodating to my schedule. The salon is small but very light and bright, with beautiful plants. It's a great atmosphere. I got a woman's haircut with a shampoo. Thien went through what options would be best for my curly hair and helped blend in some bangs that were growing out. She was so quick and efficient while cutting -- I don't think I've ever had such a short appointment in my life! I have a ton of hair so it was unbelievable. The total cost ended up being $45 before tip. I am so happy with the results and my hair is so bouncy and healthy. Can't wait to go back for another cut! read more

Either with Thien or other staff, I'd never had an issue with their haircut for so many years, so, I had been totally trusting them. However, this time it was a quite disappointment. Starting the hair cut, I, soon, started feeling anxious because the new staff didn't appear to be very skilled, (I can easily explain why I felt so if anyone asks) and I felt I was an experimental object for her. And I didn't need blow dry after the haircut, but she told me it was to inspect the haircut better so I let her. And the blow dry took very long; she put more effort on the blow drying than the haircut itself. After I got home, I trimmed the side layers for myself for more than half an hour, trying to make them even both side. I just wish I still have my the 'before' hair, not wasting $50 for just a big regret. At least, she tried, and I appreciate that only. read more

I called ahead to make an appointment, and they were able to fit me within the hour. I arrived at the salon to find a small but very well-kept business with lots of natural lighting. Acrylic barriers were set up between chairs to protect their customers, and masks were required of customers and stylists. My haircut is simple - a fade on the sides and a trim on top. Simple, yet many salons I've been to can't seem to fade straight or evenly. Auntie Hien (I call her auntie) got me seated and cleaned me up in about 15 minutes. Fast, efficient, clean, and inexpensive - I can respect that. I've had haircuts that have taken 5 times as long but didn't even look half as good as the one I got today. I decided to frequent a 23 year old that had the gumption to start her own shop in the area she grew up in Over the last 10 years I have added 20 friends and family to her client list and all are happy with her prompt service, better than competitive prices and "family atmosphere" . It's been almost 6 months since I got my hair cut at Thiens... And I'm just now cooled off enough to write a constructive review. Had I written this right after my haircut, it would be nothing but curse words. I have no idea where the good reviews came from, because there's no way this place deserves even one star. I went in for a quick trim. Nothing fancy. All she had to do was follow the path already laid out for her, just take the dead ends off. First of all, she didn't wash my hair. She used a squirt bottle. Then she just went to town with no rhyme or reason; just cutting however she felt. I ended up with choppy layers and my ends were still somehow dead. I left there worse off then when I went in. I should have stopped her as soon as I saw the squirt bottle. I'm not shy about cutting my hair, and I've had bad haircuts before (I have two older sisters, both are guilty of screwing my hair up really bad). I can get over it. But this... I was so mad that I cried as soon as I got into my bathroom and started playing with it. Haircuts are always weird immediately after, until you wash your hair and style it yourself. Nope. Not in this case. It was WORSE when I tried to style it normally. Someone might say "you get what you pay for". Yes, it was $22. I've had $15 haircuts that came out just fine. I didn't expect a full blown salon with champagne and neck massages. Price really shouldn't matter for something so general, and necessary to the entire human population. You have to go to school to be able to cut hair. It's all you do for work. How can you justify doing your job so poorly? I uploaded a picture of my "bangs" so you can get an idea of how bad it was. Thien's is wonderful!! Disclaimer: I've only ever gotten my hair cut by Thien herself, so this review cannot attest for the other hairstylists. But every time I get a cut from Thien it's a good experience. I have long hair, so the price is $22 which is NOTHING for the beautiful layers she creates and the texture she gives my very long and full-bodied hair. True, she does not shampoo before the cut (she uses a spray bottle to wet your hair), BUT c'mon. Women's cuts are $22 or LESS. It doesn't bother me at all. In fact, I actually like being in and out and having my hair look fabulous in less than 30 minutes! She does blow dry and style, and uses very good products on your hair after the cut, so it definitely still smells and feels good when you walk out. I've had my hair cut by Thien about four times now, and have learned to make an appointment if I'm on a time crunch. But even without an appointment, usually Thien can get me in same-day. Today I showed up for my 2:30 appt and she was promptly ready to go. Thien is very kind and warm, and asked a lot of questions about the way I wanted my hair to fall, length, style, bang preference, etc. She checked in with me along the way to make sure I was happy with the way the cut was going. And when I let her know I was going to a wedding this weekend, she gave me some great tips on how to curl my hair to get the look I am aiming for. If you need a fancy, upscale, and pricey "salon experience," DON'T come here for a hair cut. But if you want a friendly, skilled, and good listener for a stylist who does not charge an arm and a leg, this place will be your jam. read more
