A little nervous about writing this review because Breanna will get too busy to have open appointments for me because I'm one of those last-minute types. I don't write many reviews, but I am taking the time to write this one because I want to thank her for her introducing me to the "grey fade" and a new way of using temporary dye to tone down the grey without that awful growing out phase of stark white roots after a few weeks. Also, if life gets busy and the color fades, I can go for a little longer between sessions and I look like a regular greying person. Try it, you'l love it if you have given up on coloring your hair because of the stark white roots and maintenance challenges. Breanna took the time to ask for what I wanted and her energy is very calming and that helped me to decide I could take on this "grey fade" with confidence. Also, a shout out to all women with curly, kinky hair needs - my son has super, thick, wavy long hair and he really struggles to not let it get frizzy and puffy. Breanna knew how to de-puff it down and taught him how to how to style his wavy hair. While I was in my chair by the glass door a woman stopped in their tracks. She came in to pick up a card from Breanna because they were so excited to see stylist on the Eastside suburbs who had a gorgeous Afro. I trust a stylist who knows how to make themselves look good and its great to support someone who can do the full range of hair types, including Black hair. All the stylists at Salon Unmixed and their customers look happy whenever I am there. I like the music they play (thanks Keoni) and the use and availability of the awesome Aveda products are always a plus. read more

The place has changed. I used to go there to see a wonderful stylist who is no longer there. I called to schedule a long appointment (fine, with a new talent), got a babysitter for 3 hours only to find out that the person who took my call didn't bother to save the appointment. So when I showed up no one was available. I will not be going back. Nothing about the place is the same. read more

Super impressed with the safety protocols enforced by Nadya at Salon UnMixed. I've been getting my hair done by Nadya for years, and I've always been happy, but they are really going above and beyond to protect their clients. The stylist use N95 masks while cutting hair and face shields when washing hair. They also sanitize chairs after every client. What I love even most is the air sanitizing machines around the salon and the space between clients. Big kudos! read more

I love Aveda and truly expect the Aveda experience that won't damage my hair or my pocket. This salon offers simply that. Fairly priced, amazing staff, clean and superb work. I went to Salon Unmixed because of an ad on Craigslist. First off, the gal I was seeing (Gwen) was 35 minutes late getting started. After a brief discussion about what I wanted, she got started. About 90 minutes later, with me being left under the dryer for 60 of that with no explanation, we were off to get shampooed. At this point, I was running late for my next appointment and ended up having to leave with wet hair. Overall, the color she did turned out just fine. Horrible experience. Bobby washed my hair, started dryingg and then declared that she only does poker straight hair with no volume, curl, etc. I told her that I don't want a poker straight hair to which she responded that she will curl it with iron. I thought fair point until she was done with rough drying it. By this point she implied that she was running late to pick up her child and that she is sorry but can't do anything else. Owner was next to her when she proceeded to charge $35 with the comment "at least your hair is dry and clean'. I was excited to try salon unmixed because of the reviews. I was rather disappointed. The actual salon was so cute and modern! I was with Thersea and she was super friendly but unfortunately my haircut was not good. I have short bob and asked for a trim and ended up with all my hair being one length and one side longer than the other by about an inch. I asked her to fix it and it is still not even. I enjoyed the atmosphere but would have preferred a better haircut. read more

I first walked into Salon Unmixed in 2008 and I am so glad that I did. Nadya is fantastic! Her color expertise means that highlights, balyage, color, etc looks absolutely top notch. I love checking out new salons and new talent, but honestly, I always come back here. Nadya is just that good-- she's an artist with hair and also a lovely person to chat with. There is also a nice hot Aveda tea available and a hand massage with color services. She is very knowledgeable regarding the salon's products (of course, she orders them!) and she is happy to give samples to try out before you buy. I've never once been pushed to make a product purchase, which I appreciate. I've sent a couple of friends to Salon Unmixed as well and both have had wonderful experiences. My wife had Keratin Treatment to this salon. While doing treatment it was ensured that treatment effect will stay at least 2 months. However to our surprised her hair became back to normal within 3 days. Will not recommend. read more

I went here based off of location more than any prior knowledge. I was dismayed when I walked into find it was an aveda salon. Aveda is a high end salon chain, for the uninnitiated, that tends to make me feel uncomfortable. I'm not sure why, I've been to two up north that both gave me that "you're not posh enough" and/or "you're not pretty enough" vibe, even though the staff were outwardly nice. As a general rule, i would walk away overcharged, up sold on products I didn't need, and slightly unsatisfied with my hair style. However, this particular aveda salon may be the exception to the rule. The people were nice, but what I really liked was they were normal. They weren't all high-faluting, holier than thou about their store or their products. They performed a service and didn't give me a huge hassle. Additionally, the woman who cut my hair did a fantastic job, and wasnt overly chatty (which is a bonus in my book) More than a week later, and I'm still loving it, because she listened to what I wanted. The woman at the register casually asked if I was interested in any products, and didn't try to tackle me to the ground when I said no. Awesome. I will be back! read more
