Kathi was nice and the place seemed pretty clean, but it was by far one of the worst haircuts I've ever had. Not quite as bad as Katarina below, but not too far off either. The next day I went to Sports Clips.. yes Sports Clips to have it fixed. A friend took one look at my hair and couldn't imagine someone would let me leave their salon like that. I had a piece in the back that was longer than the others, my layers were like uneven shelves and it was clear to my friend that she used a razor to do my uneven facial framing. So while Kathi was nice, I will NOT be returning. She did also stop in the middle of the cut to hold a injured squirrel that was brought in (she warned me when she started that he might) and thank goodness she washed her hands when she was done. She mentioned that the squirrels come first, and it shows. To each their own, but when I'm paying for a service I'd like to come first. read more

I was very pleased with the short haircut I received from Kathi several weeks ago. I will definitely be returning! In addition, I find it very admirable that she cares for injured animals or baby rabbits, possums, and squirrels that have lost their mothers. She has been licensed to care for these animals and has also obtained a tax exempt 501 status for people interested in donating money to help her care for these helpless animals. I had to go on my lunch break, so I just phoned in an appointment which she had open. I arrived into a funky, eclectic space with too much stuff and unorganized. There was about 10 empty chairs and 1 stylist, which threw me off. For a Saturday, you'd think the place would be packed, so I just had a sinking feeling it wasn't going to be all that great. I had to wait a few minutes while Cathy made her squirrel milk for the rescues she was expecting after my appointment, something I wish I didn't know. I also asked where I could put my coat, and was given a smart joke about how it's common sense that coat racks are near the door. It's also common courtesy to assist your clients with their coats as well. As I sat down, we talked about what I wanted, which was just 2 inches taken off and trimming off the front framing. Now I don't have a complicated hair cut, no layers in the back or anything, just long, one length hair. Since I opted for the $20 haircut, which was not described on the website or in person, she just began as spray me down with a spray bottle! I was extremely shocked and had she tried to up sell me to the $45 normal shampoo haircut, I would have. The haircut was wham bam thank you ma'am, done in 10 minutes! Didn't even blow dry my hair dry. I left the salon with damp hair, my hair way too short, (4 inches taken off) and my facial framing that she used with a razor was crooked. She didn't even check to see if it was even, so I had to fix my framing at home. Perhaps she has enough clients and didn't care to get another one, because clearly after my experience, she won't be getting any recommendations or my future business. read more

This is THE worst hair cut I've ever had in my life... no dramatics, no exaggerations. I went in for a trim, and ended up with at least 4 inches taken off. Not only that, but what I ended up with was jagged, uneven, and really just the MOST PATHETIC excuse for a hair cut. For someone who has done hair for as long as Kathy said she has, she should be SO embarrassed to let someone leave her shop looking like this. The reviewer who wrote "an accidental rabbit hair chew will look better" is spot on. Not only did I end up with a garbage hair cut, I also had to spent more money to have it fixed elsewhere. I have attached pictures for the skeptics, I'm the person in the beige shirt, so see for yourself. If she gives you some run down story on squirrels when you enter thats a red flag Leave! know that she has no interest to do your hair. Chances are she'll mess it up . She has no technical knowledge or pretends she doesn't know just to make sure you don't visit again. She takes the trimmer machine jabs it into the area she likes to ensure she messes it up. You can't always tell it is intentional but you will know it later. Thanks Kathy for all the awful work you do. I had to spend another 30$ to buy a cap. read more

This place is located at a prime location right next to Anderson Park. The inside looks decent and does seem like Real Experience in there. We got a chance to work with Kathi who is the lead hair stylist and the owner of the store. Like any other hair stylist in the location this place also was busy. Talking about the work they did, I would say that Kathi was very patient and full of suggestions on how to get the color done. The most important thing for a customer is that you should be fed with confidence when someone is working on your hair. Kathi was indeed one such person who is cool at explaining what the end product will look like. Talking about the price, this place is cheaper than most of the other places like the Rapunzel, Rudy's etc. The only negative about this place would be parking which is very limited like two or three cars considering the fact that there are always people waiting here every time I visited the place. read more

Kathi cut my hair so short that my co-workers nicknamed me "DORA THE EXPLORER." Now I could kill them and her. More on that soon. My initial observation: The place is clean and nice. Kathi is nice and gracious. She can be snarky. She chats as she works. She loves purple. This local hair salon seemed professional and seasoned. The parking spaces are very limited in the salon lot. It was a tight squeeze both visits. Kathi prefers you pay in cash because the fees for processing credit and debit cards eat into salon sales profits. Just A Trim experience: I have gone to Just A Trim for a DRAMATIC and LAYERED A-LINE BOB in March and again in May. I don't think Kathi put too much effort into making sure my A-line bob was dramatic or layered. I came out of the salon with a normal, one-length, Dora the Explorer bob on both occasions. She trimmed off the tips of my hair toward the front, which I had told her to stay away from, since I was trying to keep them long for the A-line bob. She didn't spend more than fifteen minutes on my hair each time. $22, her lowest rate, gets you exactly what you pay for. I did not look cute or stylish afterward. I looked like Dora the Explorer with a one length bob and no sharp angles. I am not in the mood for asking Just a Trim for a trendy haircut ever again. I will find someone else who will give me a haircut that will make me feel confident, not homely. read more

Kathy is amazing! I had gotten gotten my hair colored elsewhere and the lady screwed it up so bad it was awful. I had bright red hair and i wanted to add some black streaks. Simple right? Well aparently not for this girl. She turned my whole head black and left a little BURGANDY streaks in it. Needless to say NOT wut i wanted. Then she refused to fix it. So i called here and Kathy got me in same day and fixed it for me. She stayed late for me working on my hair for 4 hours to lift all the black out and put my bright red back in with a few black streaks. EXACTLY wut i wanted. My hair looks fantasticly amazing and i absolutely love it, whereas the other lady left me in tears. Unfortunately i had to pay twice to get my hair done, since the other lady still made me pay even though i was dissatisfied; so i basically threw $120 in the garbage there. But i was more than happy to pay Kathy anything for saving me. If ur gonna spend money on ur hair, make sure its done right the 1st time! The title says it all you only get Just a Trim. I went for a hair cut wanted a new style. All I got was a 15 minute cut/trim... The product shelves are dirty and dusty from what looks like years of dust. The table for the combs and scissors was covered in other people's hair from the days gone by. Not everyone gets their hair washed with the cut, that cost more, so who know what is getting combed in your hair. All I could do is run home to wash my hair and plan to go somewhere else soon for a better experience. read more

I love this hair place. Kathy has been taking care of my hair for 2-3 years now. I think most of her customers get more done (color, full cut, styling), but I am literally 'just a trim'. She never tries to upsell me, get me to 'do more' with my hair, 'brighten it a bit', or 'come in more often, these ends are terrible'. All of which I have heard from other hair dressers in Redmond. And she can cut in a straight line, which seems to be a dying art. I just made another appointment for tomorrow, and I am so happy to go to a place where I know I won't be chastised for not having trendy hair, and that when I leave my hair will be the way I want it to be.
