These cookies are thin and the crust is crunchy but the insides are still a little chewy, if you're into that this is a good spot for you.It seems like from my experience and others' here, any of the cookies without a specific flavor in the dough like mint, toffee, peanut butter etc just tastes like sugar. Four stars because these flavored doughs are worth the trip. Would recommend the Boston lager chocolate chip cookie, it has a unique taste because of the Sam Adams they added. It doesn't taste like beer but there's a unique flavor i'd bring visitors to try. They also have a parking lot. read more

Just tried Top Shelf for the first time and it was a lovely experience from beginning to end. I got a dozen cookies, a mix of their chocolate chip and holiday options. Just had a chocolate chip and will absolutely be back. It's a nice size - indulgent but not overwhelming, chewy and just delicious. I was also blown away by my experience in the store. I walked in and it smelled SO good, and I had one of the best customer service experiences ever. I regret not getting her name, but this young woman asked if it was my first visit and when I said yes, she gave me a thorough yet concise lay of the land. We always have to stop by Top Shelf Cookies when we pass by! The staff is very kind and attentive, and patient while we choose our cookie flavors. Their flavors are unique (see photos) and tasty without being too overbearing. We like their softness (and sometimes warm them up a bit for more gooeyness). Support local neighborhood businesses in the community Stopped by around 11:56am wanted to get the Bruins black & gold cookie and got a box of 6 cookies for work today and got the ice cream cookie, I saw on there instagram page posted! The staff is friendly was greeting when I entered the store. The young lady helped with choice off cookies. The place smelled so good from the baking of cookies!! Clean store, excellent customer service from the staff. The cost was very affordable $19.69. The taste of the cookies delicious a nice crunch on the outside moist inside not over baked fresh and made with love I was overwhelmed with delight so so good! I tried 4 different flavors today from the stall at the Quincy Farmers market. Chocolate Choc chip, toasted marshmallow, chocolate chip, and chocolate peanut butter. 1st they were SO stale we couldn't even eat them. They didn't have any flavor other than butter. Unfortunately a very negative experience on my one visit, which ended with me being ordered out of the bakery. Not worth getting into, but one for the books. This is my neighborhood and I was excited to try this business. My family spent enjoyable time on their website looking at the many options and placed a large order online for an event. The upside: the cookies were decent and packaged nicely. Also the owner reached out to me afterwards and made an effort to rectify the encounter and I appreciated that. I am a sucker for niche dessert places! This store has 12 kinds of cookies, 6 that stay and 6 that rotate. The 6 that stay all year round are are mostly Boston themed with Boston ingredients which I absolutely loved. We couldn't decide which ones to try so we got all 12 and did a little sampling of each of them when we got home. My favorites were the black and gold (chocolate peanut butter, reference to the bruins) and the chocolate strawberry for Valentine's Day! These cookies are pretty good. I happen to be quite a cookie snob which stems from childhood. Trying to seek out homemade-style cookies is not always easy but I have searched high & low. Some may be better than others though depending on what strikes your fancy. There are some great flavor combinations which is nice. I do wish they had vegan cookies though. I was not a fan of their fluffernutter which was like a sugar bomb in my mouth & did not taste like peanut butter at all. I wish the cookies were softer though as I am not a fan of crunchy style cookies. It's kind of great they are in my neighborhood which is also dangerous. I am not a fan of corn syrup being used in cookies though. read more

My bf and I stopped in before heading to the city and wow! This place is delicious. The cookies were soft and crunchy. The variety of flavors was amazing and the cookies weren't overly huge. The cookies weren't overly sweet and I really appreciated that because crumbl cookie, for example, is just way too much. The service was great and the shop was clean! I do with the cookies were stored a little different because 2 of the cookies were a little hard but I think it's more because of the storage. Overall, amazing!! read more

I ordered a dozen cookies. Chocolate chip and walnut chocolate chunk. I was excited to eat the walnut chocolate chunk and give the chocolate chip cookies to my children. We didn't wait to get home. My expectations of the cookies where high. I was a bit disappointed in the inconsistent texture of the walnut chocolate chunk. It was quiet hard on the outer edges and moist in the inside. I also expected to crunch down on walnut here and there but the were none in sight. I did taste hints of walnut (maybe it had some type of walnut flavoring added and not the actual nut it's self). Without even asking my 8 year old said the chocolate chip cookies where salty. And my 4 year old refused to finish his which was a surprise. What 4 year old doesn't finish a cookie? I quickly found out via tasting myself that yes the cookie had a salty after taste and could of been a tinge bit sweeter. Even my teenage son tasted them and he didn't finish them off. Which is super weird because he eats us out a house and home. Needless to say we didn't finish the dozen of cookies. $16.00 down the drain. read more

Got a 6 cookies and a frappe that came out to $17. Would expect fresh cookies and a good shake--nope. Cookies were clearly not fresh. They're hard and cold. They're pretty good--except for the chocolate fluff, which was tasted blegh--but not worth the price. I'm more annoyed about the shake. It came in a 8oz cup, so it was already really small for $6.50, but it was barely 3/4 full. When I asked about is employee just said that that's the recipe, which is a little hard to believe, because it was also watery as hell and tasted flavorless. Mad bummed; i don't mind a high price if it's worth the money, but it really wasn't. read more

These cookies are amazing! I first tried them at the SOWA Winter Festival, and I got these amazing peppermint cookies. Then I ordered some sugar cookies with a decorating kit for Valentine's Day. They were delicious! Recently I ordered even more cookies, the Red Line (the red velvet cookies) and the Flood (molasses and ginger, if you like gingerbread cookies, this is your thing). So good! They were awesome and the women inside were super friendly hand helpful. Got a dozen chocolate chip. And then got a mixed dozen that included the green monster (chocolate cookie with a mint flavor), oatmeal raisin, some marshmallow duff cookie that was AMAZING and a toffee kinda cookie. My order was delayed a day due to waiting on an ingredient for one of the cookies I ordered. When I expressed to Heather, the owner, that I would like to add a new flavor to my order that just came on the site since they weren't sent out yet, she threw them in on the house! The best in Boston. My sister found them at the SOWA market and suggested them for our wedding as we wanted something different than a cake. Heather was super nice and personable. We went in for a tasting and it was so hard just to pick a few. My favorite is the Sam Adams Chocolate Chip (which was completely gone at end of night) and m husbands is the black and gold, unreal and stay fresh for days. We also got a castle island whiskey cookie to go with our St Patrick's Day theme, delicious and different. They delivered to our venue and provided flavor cards with allergy info. Ok, I'm not supposed to eat many but I love Top Shelf Cookies! You can taste the love and care that goes into developing the recipes, testing, and producing every batch. I have my favorites...the Vermonter is my all time, as I'm a big fan of a cookie with nuts or other chewy things embedded (raisins are good too), but I know that all of their cookies are delicious and many are really unusual. We ordered cookies as wedding favors for my daughter's wedding and everyone was pleased. Those were favors that were not left behind.... Check them out if you have the chance! We had a cookie bar buffett for our wedding from Top Shelf and it was the best decision we made in wedding party planning. Guests were raving all night about how good the cookies were and everyone was asking me who made them and where could get more. Working with Top Shelf to make sure we had the right number of cookies, flavor variety and all the other logistics was great. We did a cookie tasting where they bake everything and we were in a food coma after (as a chocolate fan, I am not complaining!). I bought some cookies at the Dewey Square Farmers Market .. the idea of a cookie sounded really good at the time. The woman running the booth was a bit rude but I had already decided to buy so I made the purchase. What a mistake. I ate one of the cookies which tasted ok at first, but had a strange metallic aftertaste .. almost like the taste of liver. I ate 1 full cookie and a small bite of a second and threw the rest out. About an hour later I was very sick, and had diarrhea.. needless to say it was not fun. I have no idea what was in those cookies, but I plan to go back next week to find out.
