When I visited Seattle the first thing I noticed was that people drive very courteously. So initially my thought of people here was that they are too nice. What does this have to do with my Top Pot visit?! Read on... Top Pot was a destination I had to visit in Seattle. I remember hearing that Starbucks donuts are essentially a Top Pot donut so this intrigued me. Me and my girlfriend visited this location since we were staying in the University District. It has ample parking, a good selection of donuts, and seemed like a perfect family outing. I sincerely apologized to the gentleman behind me and told him to just go ahead of us since we are indecisive as hell. We ended up getting a raspberry donut, apple fritter, and mocha. The highlight of our selection was the apple fritter. It was so soft!!! But the true MVP of this visit was the man we let go ahead of us. He put $5 towards our bill and it truly made our day. I got an Italian Soda (pomegranate flavor) here last time, and that was... not as good as hoped. I wonder if it was too much flavor syrup or the result of skipping the whipped cream on top. I love me some Top Pot donuts! There isn't a flavor donut here that I donut love. (Haha!) It's a bit of a splurge as each donut is $2.00+. I would say the donuts are a heavier and more crumbly eating experience than other donut brands. I think this is why people think it can be too dry. If you want your donuts light as air, stick to Krispy Kreme! However, these donuts are a local delight I will continue to treat myself to! Fun fact, while I was working at Nordies, one of my customers had a toppot.com personal email address. As for this specific location... It is very difficult to get to by car. If you're on the right side of the road, you're going to have a bad time. No one likes the car trying to turn left on a double yellow right before a stoplight! Once you manage to get into the parking lot, you will be horrified to learn there is barely any parking ! There are spots for about 5 cars. No can dosville baby doll. I would happily visit by foot if I lived in the area but donut come here with your car unless it's 10 mins before closing or odd hours like that. Because of this... My review is lowered by 2 stars. The Camper Coffee Beans Bag= $10.50 The average price for a bag of beans is $11. They have whole and ground beans available. Look for the round sticker with "ground" labeled. The whole beans won't have a sticker. Donuts are priced by color! It's so much more worth it to buy a half dozen or dozen. You can mix and match no matter the price. That's what my friends and I did, and it was perfect. I also had an ovaltine coffee. I've never had an ovaltine before, but Top Pot's was pretty good. I wasn't wow'ed by it, but it was great to have a cup in the morning. Paired it with a raspberry glazed donut. There are a handful of Top Pot locations around Seattle. Visit it! It's a Seattle must-try. Love the decor. The main area is very spacious, with the counter in front as you enter, and a slender shelf of available coffee bean bags to the right of the entrance. To the left is a quaint room with tables and bookshelves wrapping around the room. I love the bookshelves theme. It gives a warm feel to the donut shop. There's also super cute products like mugs and baby clothes for purchase. Parking is incredibly limited. Get there early, bus, or walk to the shop! They have a cool sign out front with their Top Pot name on it. For the tourists (like my group), take a picture for memories (because why not). read more

A chocolate sandcastle, my current favorite doughnut, is a not-to-sweet but flavorful , nutmeg scented devil's food chocolate cake donut with a sandlike, cinnamon sugar exterior. Take an old gas station, add a giant brown doughnut and palm trees and you have the newest Top Pot Doughnuts in Seattle. Finally. They must have delayed opening to increase anticipation because it seems to have worked. They have a steady stream of customers and all the favorite doughnuts. The best melt in the mouth doughnuts. My favorites are still the plain cake and chocolate on chocolate, just depends on my mood, but my kids seem determined to try every single kind. The giant doughnut on top of the store certainly lets you know it's there, but what's up with the palm trees? Funky, but a little weird. Great patio, this will be a happening place during sunny summer days. The books and shelves are a fantastic touch, you don't need to bring reading material with you and they could be a huge distraction to a laptop. P.S. After several trips and serious consideration I love the palm trees. I mean, palm trees in Seattle? What better way to be original? Besides, lots of good doughnuts can reconcile you to anything. The donuts are good, but the location is stupid. While they make a tasty donut, this place continues to uncomfortably exceed maximum occupancy. The parking lot, yes all 8 spaces, is a zoo...with it's two entrances and large volume of traffic it is impossible to get in and out of this establishment quickly. I should have listened to the other Yelpers who said to avoid the coffee - it is weak and not very good. It's also ridiculously expensive. However, their doughnuts (while also expensive) and their welcoming space make up for the terrible coffee. My friend and I split an apple fritter, a glazed chocolate old-fashioned, and a salted caramel old-fashioned. The apple fritter is to die for! If I were my friend and lived just down the street, I think I'd be even pudgier than I already am! The chocolate glazed old-fashioned was also delicious, fresh and moist. The only disappointment (beyond the horrible coffee) was the salted caramel doughnut - the frosting wasn't terribly tasty and the doughnut tasted stale. read more

My husband & I came here due to a free donut and coffee from a Seahawks win. I'm not sure if the Seahawks communicate to the locations or how it works. The clerk didn't seem to think we got free donuts (even though they emailed me and also flashed it on the big screen at the game). We didn't want to argue since we were getting 'free' stuff. My husband also ordered a donut and the guy didn't hear him. We ended up paying for a separate transaction due to this. The parking is a bit tight here as it's one way around the building. "Giant Donut!" Yeah, my two year old loves this place. Along with her Grandparents, Dad, Mom, friends, and anyone else we've brought here. This location is just perfect. It's on the main ave in Wedgwood and with it's eye-catching display you can't miss it. The parking lot is a little small and only goes one way. This seems to be incredibly hard for many of the people of Wedgwood to understand. But it's worth the danger for the donuts. The shop is very nice and open. A counter to sit at and look out, a great place to read and work and seating outside too. The donuts are wonderful. Their seasonal ones are perfection. My favorite of the pumpkin old fashioned and the cherry blossom. The coffee here is some of my favorite in Seattle. They make it quick and delicious. I've never had a problem with waiting or a messed up order, no matter how crazy I get with my orders. The best thing about this location is the staff. They have some of the nicest people in Seattle working here. And it's not just one of them, it's all of them. They always say "Hello, how are you?" and mean it! I've had some of the staff remember me, which is always sweet. Always a smile and making sure you are happy. And to top it off, they really seem to like their jobs. I recently went here for a monthly book club gathering and can say that I have definitely become a fan. I found myself overwhelmed by all the doughnut choices and chose to keep it basic for my first time visit. Bavarian Cream sounded like my cuppa tea and let me say, it was SOOO delicious. I also ordered a plain latté and although it may not be the best coffee I've ever had, it was still pretty darn good! The downside was that they don't have any single tables that can really accommodate more than 3 people. But they do make up for it by having free parking. Warning: Warm Fuzzy Review My pal from college visited me this past weekend and one of the places she searched and heard about on Yelp was Top Pots Doughnuts. After an amazing Bar Method workout we headed towards the Wedgwood location. We found parking and headed in. While my friend was choosing our six donuts I overheard a man tell his son that they were going to have to walk home to get his wallet. I interrupted and insisted that I cover the payment on their order. The cashier looks surprised as did the customer. He wanted to send me a $3.75 payment and I told him not to worry about it. We continued putting together our order and our cashier told us that we should just pick six more donuts since it is only another $4 more to get a dozen. So we double upped on the old-fashions and added our two beverages to the order. After we were done he smiled and said, "Our manager wanted to comp your entire order for what you did for our other customer." We tipped heavily and left with not only delicious drip coffees and moist delicious doughnuts but also really positive energy. WONDERFUL customer service and GREAT product. Thanks, Top Pot! I'm not a big fan of teh donut, but since work was paying I volunteered to pick some up. A variety dozen for 14 bucks is aight. The donuts are actually really good. I ate two of 'em. I like old fashion with or without chocolate, but the old fashion old fashion is my favorite... nothing special. I have to say this old gas station converted to bakery is working great for them. I love the open space as you walk in and the roomy seating adjacent. The converted grease pit makes an awesome library. Free WIFI and outside seating! My only complaint is the parking! I don't know what they did, but it seems like in the process of the remodelation the parking was sacrificed and now if you drive anything bigger than a smart car or a bug you're screwed. After hearing all the raves about Top Pot donuts, I had to check it out myself, as I'm somewhat a donut nut. To me, this is more of a coffee shop that sells donuts, and not the dedicated donut shop like Westernco or Krispy Kreme, as I don't see any possible way they could make donuts in-house. The decor is nice; it's cozy with custom bookcases that holds various vintage books, including dictionaries, although there aren't any cushy couch or chairs. Typically I like to have two donuts with a cup of coffee, so that's what I ordered, a maple bar and a bavarian creme. Well, the maple bar is like the John Holmes of donuts--HUGE, and although the bavarian creme isn't Peter North, it's nonetheless meaty. The texture of the dough isn't so great, it's actually a little dry. So I was able to finish just the maple bar and took the bavarian creme to go; at about $1.50 each, I wasn't going to just throw it away. Though the donut isn't that impressive, the Americano was the best I've ever had; it has crema floating on top! I've never had Americano with crema still visible. Parking is very awkward here, but since most people just run in and out, you don't have to wait long for a spot. However, there are just 9 spots, plus two handicaps. read more

I know we're all supposed to love this place but to be honest with you it is just okay. First of all, the handful of times I have been the donuts had to be at least a day older; you can't tell me that they were baked that same day. Secondly, the cake donuts tend to be too greasy. A doughnut should be cooked in hot oil so that the outside is golden brown and the inside soft and moist; the grease should not soak into the pastry. Sadly, 70% Top Pot doesn't get that part right. So I am torn - Top Pot are the most amazing donuts - EVER! Hands down the best I have ever had! BUT - for some reason I hate going here. One the parking is just plain stupid. There are like 5 spots around the building. The donuts are Expensive - $1.69 is too much for a donut. But the thing that bugs me the most are the people. I can't say that any particular one person was rude or unhelpful - but it was more of a you are not worth my time kind of feeling - and/or I hate my job and I am just doing this till the music and/or acting thing works out. So I don't go very often - but sometimes the craving for sugary goodness overwhelms me and I must give-in to temptation. It's a forgone conclusion that Top Pot, no matter the location, has the best donuts on earth. Their coffee is good, too, but not necessarily the best -- but the donuts make up for it. I'm writing this, though, because I wanted to note the excellent service I received at Top Pot Wedgewood this morning. I had an extremely negative experience this morning with a mean hippie at Grateful Bread (see my Grateful Bread review for details) and then headed over to Top Pot to buy my donuts and coffee. I was feeling sort of upset about my confrontation with the mean hippie, and so being helped by a nice, genuine, actual human being, not wearing any sort of historical costume, was very refreshing. The guy working there boxed up my donuts, poured my coffee, and took my money. Then I realized it would be difficult for me to carry two coffees with no lids and a box of donuts, and he graciously picked up my coffees and carried them over to the cream/sugar/lid station. He also offered me a drink carrier. This may seem like nothing, but just that small gesture after being condescended upon by a mean hippie just moments ago really made my morning. I have been to all 3 Top Pot locations many times, and always had good service. Their employees are mostly kind of sleepy eyed, but they do seem to like to be there, and do seem to care about the donuts, which means a lot. FYI to the person who gave Top Pot one star: Blasphemy! Even if donuts are vegan, they are not healthy. Being a vegan is also not healthy. One final note: Donuts are not supposed to be healthy. read more
