After seven years, I decided to give Tony's another chance, and it was barely a two-star experience. The pizza is overpriced, and the quality is lacking. The only topping they had left was pepperoni, a fact the staff seemed quite delighted to relay. The staff was as unhelpful as they were unfriendly. The slice was so sparse it seemed like they low-key ran out of cheese too. I paid $15.08 for two big, bland slices and two drinks and didn't leave a tip. While I was there a kid, took his filthy sneaker off and put it on the food table. The staff (of course) did nothing but look at him and then back at us. I just hope that they didn't do anything gross to our food. The entire experience felt so very chintzy. The iced tea really wasn't bad at all, which is about the only positive thing I can say. Even in another seven years, I don't intend to go back. read more

Don't really know how they have 4-starts other than they had a promotion for leaving them a good review. I spent a lot of money ordering here and I regret it. My order taste like cafeteria food. The pasta and cheese sticks were clearly sitting in a deep freezer and they thawed it out and served it. Absolute no taste other than tomato paste. First off let me say I'm born and raised from NY. I moved to Charlotte recently and close by is Tony's pizza that makes "NY style" pizza. The pizza is ok and might look like NY pizza but it's not NY styled. They're pizza is too thin crusted for one. The cheese does not give off the grease that NY pizza gives. It's quite cheesy that's all I'm going to say. NY pizza drips grease when you fold and eat it. The sauce isn't thick like NY sauce. What made me post this bc I ordered a "blanco pizza". In NY terms it's a "white pizza". I was disappointed. I only came here cause it was my last resort. They know what they need to improve. read more

This place really gives you a bang for your buck. The slices are humongous. The only takeaway is that the slices can be on the soggy side because of how thin they are. The best way to tackle it is to fold it in half or... take a knife and fork to it and get a little "sophisticated," lol. I decided to get three slices and a drink, and YES, IT HAD PINEAPPLE ON IT. Don't judge me, lol. I enjoyed all of my pizza and definitely couldn't finish it. I left with a slice and a half to take home. Oh! Their lemonade is BOMB too. The bathroom is clean yall, lol. The only takeaway here is that it is one stall, so it could be pristine... before Laura decides to walk in with her 2-year-old jussayin. The pizza here is decent but if you like a slice with a little of everything on it, forget it. You'll wind up paying $20 for a single slice. Just get yourself a small (10") with the works. The sandwiches are decent. I know that "guilt tipping" is a thing now but here, if you use a card, they force a tip. You cannot complete your transaction without tipping. I actually ate here yesterday. It was so good I had to double back. I initially went to the other location on Mt Holly- Huntersville Rd, I was disappointed from my experience there. I wanted 2 slices of Italian sausage pizza. They told me they don't offer Italian sausage per slice just cheese and pepperoni. Keep in mind I was just at the other location at Overland the day before. And I've never had this problem before. I didn't argue, I politely left. I was gonna go to Davinci's but I wanted to give them another shot. So I went back to the Overland location and received my order with no issues. Consistency is a big deal for me. All locations need to be on the same page. read more

Pizza was good. Service was quick. Price seemed reasonable. I was pleasantly surprised as two other local pizza places I tried did proved not to be worth going back to. This was NY style which I have not really had much of in the past, so I am not an expert by any means, however I can say it tasted good and the crust, cheese and ingredients seemed to be of good quality. My only comment would be to have had a few more toppings on the pizza. I found the presentation to be lacking some attention to detail in uniformity and quantity of the toppings requested. I've been in Charlotte for 25 years and Tony's was a staple for good pizza. I'm not sure what's been going on but the food has definitely changed. The last few times I've been here the food the terrible. The pizza isn't good at all. Today I had a chicken parm sub that was gross. The chicken tender (not cutlet) was clearly frozen and only partially cooked and the drowned it in cheese and bland sauce. To top it off the bread wasn't toasted. C'mon son! What are y'all doing? We called and they answered saying they were now closed, but were NOT closed when we placed the order, decided not to fulfill our order, and didn't even call to let us know. Tony's is well know for their pizza and really good pizza at that but I was recently searching for a good veggie sub and found myself here hoping they would deliver. I ordered the veggie sub(cheese, banana peppers, onions, mayo, lettuce, tomato, oil & vinegar, bell peppers, mushrooms). The sub was amazing and I was so impressed I went back a few days later for the same sub and again it was amazing. I also had a side salad that was ok but the star was definitely the sub. My friend is from NY and suggested that we check Tony's out for a late lunch since we both wanted pizza. When we arrived, there were only 3 people sitting in the restaurant, and social distancing was enforced (which was a plus). It was a very simple ordering process, so we ordered the 5 boroughs 15' pizza. It took about 15 minutes for it to be prepared, and it was well worth the wait. The pizza was so good! Established in 1980.

Brothers Vinny, Mario and Tony have long shared a passion for food. Far before they reached the Carolinas, they were creating and serving NY-style pizza in Brooklyn. In the 80s, they headed to North Carolina and opened their first pizza shop. Not only did they bring their iconic NY-style pizza to our state, they also brought authentic Italian recipes handed down through their family. Since then, Tony’s Pizza expanded into the Charlotte and Hickory area. Our local and family-owned restaurants serve authentic NY-Style Pizza, Stromboli, calzone, Italian dishes, subs, salads, appetizers, and desserts.

Slices here are GIGANTIC, one is easily about 3 standard slices of pizza, or two normal NY size slices. We got a pepperoni and a cheese. The pepperoni had nice kick to them and the cheese was a high quality. You had to let the pepperoni grease drain onto your plate a bit, but that is expected. The thing that makes both slices so good is the garlic butter bath all around the crust that you can see them doing in the kitchen. Not just that, but the texture in the crust will make even non-crust lovers think again. You're basically left with big doughy garlic butter breadsticks. Definitely a 5 on taste. My only complaint, and I'm sure it is partly by design to keep people from staying long, the stools you can sit on to enjoy your pizza inside the restaurant are THE WORST I have ever placed my derrier on. Even for 15 minutes, it wasn't just uncomfortable, it was painful. It took me a couple blocks to start walking correctly again. Might as well just get rid of them and have people stand to eat. Terrible. Almost knocked a star off for it, that bad. Regardless of the world's worst stools, I would come back for more pizza and just plan on not eating it there.

I dream about eating here again. It was that good. My question is, do they sell the dough?

She just plainly said would you like to have three scallops added to your meal or a lobster tail now I understand that there are many people that would go in and not have a problem with the price however, it should be stated how much the up charge is going to be and it should be in writing on the menu because we looked back on the menu and there was not a price for up charge on the scallops . My friend was not happy with the service nor the cost of the scallops . The manager did not really know how to handle the situation but because I invited everyone I wanted to make it right and I asked to pay part of her bill and of course my friend denied and said it'd be best. If we just not come back she said the food wasn't bad the food was actually good however, the waitress was definitely not as friendly focused as she should have been and not willing to help make our experience the best I will say the manager should have been able to accommodate her request and move forward and be kind and understand her point. I will be back and I would love for my friends to come back. The ambiance was very nice and the drinks and food were good as well. Please note the manager at the end gave us a $10 coupon for next visit but our friends were not happy with the outcome. It was simply lack of communication and more openness regarding the charges of up selling and the price is not on the menu. Given the price and reputation from my past experiences, I was expecting top tier service, food, and ambience with a quality of fish second to none in the area. Let's break it down: We had a table of 3 and each ordered the signature tasting ($60 pp, a drink, and 2 extra items (one tuna roll and the Australian wagyu hot rock, ~$20 each) 1. Service Our waitress was kind and professional, but the overall cohesion of the staff seemed off and the wait times between courses was sporadic and often too long. It took about 30 minutes from ordering to get our first course which was... a salad wrap. Not only did this seem way too long, but it was extremely underwhelming for a top tier tasting menu experience (will come back to this in the food section). After that, some courses came out overlapping each other, and some were 10-15 min apart. This made it feel less like a fine dining tasting experience and more disorganized. On top of that, the server bringing the food to the table would explain each course in a rush and we could not hear them, meaning we did not know much about each dish. Lastly, our water was consistently empty and previous corse dishes were left on the table when new ones were served, which is a minor thing but should be standard at a fine dining restaurant. Knowing how blown away I was in Austin by the original restaurant, the overall service left me feeling disappointed in bringing my friends and hyping up the place for such an expensive meal. 2. Food Our tasting menu consisted of 7 courses including a salad wrap, tuna hamachi (cold), a sea bream role, ponzu glazed salmon (hot), 2 pieces of nigiri per person, brussel sprouts, and a dessert. Having 2 of 6 core dishes be a salad and veggie at a renowned seafood restaurant was disappointing, and these did not blow me a way at all and were average at best (salad was uninteresting, brussels were cold and too saucy). The sea bream role was also just average, but the tuna hamachi, salmon, and nigiri were excellent. I felt that the portion size was small for 3 people, it was marginally bigger than a 2 person tasting and that was also slightly disappointing. We each got to choose our own dessert which was nice and included a guava and banana cake which were excellent but much too big compared to the portions of the core dishes. We also ordered the additional tuna crunchy roll and hot rock wagyu which were excellent, and a much better value than the tasting portions. Overall, the food was still good, but I distinctly remember the few times I went to the Austin restaurant being absolutely blown away by the food quality, uniqueness, and menu selection, which was not the case here. I hope this improves in the future. 3. Ambience The adaptive reuse space was awesome and the look of the place is stellar. I loved how much seating and bar space there was and the overall lighting and mood was great. The only complaint I have here is that it was very loud making it hard to hear servers and each other over conversation. No one wants to be shouting over the ambient noise when paying $100+ for a meal. For context, we are late 20s, we are not shy to louder bars and restaurants, this was especially noisy. In general, I believe this place has a ton of potential and I really hope it improves in quality and value before I come back again. At present, I would not recommend the tasting menu and instead opt for individual dishes.

All the ingredients are of low quality...the crust is cracker like and lacking a traditional good dough flavor and texture (something simply hard to miss IMO)..the sauce is not flavorful lacking spice, possibly watered down and catsup like. Also obviously the use of cheap low moisture cheese instead of whole milk mozzarella makes for a cheaper copy of authentic NY style flavor and consistency. Truthfully it seems the bros from Brooklyn opted to open several locations (six) as opposed to keeping it real like the original recipe using quality ingredients. read more

Tony's Pizza is great NY style pizza. Great taste, great sauce, quality ingredients... simply great pizza. A large (19+ inch), actually HUGE, pizza is less than $15! A large is twice as big as a delivery large. My personal favorite is a large pizza, half plain cheese and the other half white with garlic, sliced tomato, and ricotta cheese.
