The pizza was good, but missed expectations given the high rating on Google. I had a plain pepperoni. Generally crispy, but foldable crust, the dough and sauce had good flavor. It tasted fresh and the price was fair for this style and quality. A 10 inch might be good for 2 people if you had a salad or another side, but I put away the whole thing and washed it down with a beer from the tap across the court. Found this place when we parked in the 7th Street Parking Garage so the location was definitely convenient. It's located in a food hall with a few other vendors around so lots of options. The service was fast! The cashier was super nice. They did validate my parking. My daughter had the pepperoni pizza which she loved. I ordered the pizza knots which I did not love. There wasn't enough to them. When I eat garlic knots I need the flavor to be able to standalone in the dough so if there isn't any sauce and cheese I can still enjoy them. That wasn't the case with these. Overall I would try pizza the next time I go and maybe I will enjoy that better. read more

This is the closest to north eastern pizza and hot Italian sandwiches you'll get around here. Bread is phenomenal on pizzas and focca sandwiches. Crispy and perfectly baked. They always do you good with pizza toppings (even the premium ones) and they taste great. Also their grandma Sicilian is incredible, that pesto sauce they use is one of a kind. People there take care of you and are patient. I say some improvements is that the to-go salads all have dressings on side (a lot of places do this but some places up north mix in which I miss) and the cheese for the pizza needs a little more of a kick. The eggplant was not overwhelming or soggy at all (which eggplant can be sometimes depending how you prepare it). I came with my dog and sat outside to enjoy my pizza. I couldn't finish the whole thing and ended up having some leftover for lunch the next day - so good value for the price. The owner is super sweet and took the time to tell me about her family owned business. Finally got the chance to try the infamous Geno D's pizza. Geno D's is located within the Market at 7th street. There are plenty of great food and drink spots to enjoy the night on a date or with friends. Upon arrival we were greeted and put our order in. I was informed that the grandma pizza only comes in one size. The pizza turned out to be enough for two. The pizza smelled and looked delicious. The pizza itself tasted good but it wasn't the best pizza I've ever had and wouldn't necessarily be my first go to. I do think it still had quality products and would please the average person. The pizzas come out fairly quick and service is good but just know this isn't an NY grab-and-go kind of place. All the pizzas here are great, especially the hot honey which is simply fantastic. Went here with my boyfriend this weekend and we really enjoyed it. The crust on the Old School Grandma pie had such unique texture. The hot honey pizza was good but to be honest I have had better... although not in Charlotte. There was a bar just across from the pizza spot with lots of great beer on tap. My daughter and I were across the street watching my son play pickup soccer and we both got hungry so we came to the market. As soon as we walked in the aroma of pizza was enticing so I followed the scent to Geno D's. My daughter and I were looking for a few slices so the 9x13 pie was the perfect choice, it was striped with red sauce, pesto and cheese which made each bite taste a bit different. And a good score was the 3 FREE garlic knots and red sauce with my Yelp checkin. This was the perfect amount of food and it was fantastic! Found this fun little spot in the middle of the Market at 7th Street. The staff was mixed - some were polite and welcoming, some not so much. The salad was huge and filled with fresh ingredients. When we ordered the salad without cheese we were asked if it was for a preference or an allergy. This gave us confidence that the dairy allergy would be taken seriously. When we received our order, the employee at the pick-up window confirmed that it was dairy free. The pizza was a good portion as well. In Charlotte for a work thing and as a pizza enthusiast from New York City, I was curious to see what Geno D's had to offer. At first blush, it certainly had the smell. Even in a food hall with a dozen restaurants, you can smell the basil and the garlic from the moment you walk through the door. The staff was friendly and polite. I went with the large round cheese pie and came away incredibly impressed. The crust was crispy on the bottom and soft and chewy in the center. The cheese had just the perfect amount of pull to it and the sauce was vibrant and flavorful. The pie came out hot and fresh after about 10 minutes or so. I shared the pie with my group of New York City pizza snobs and everyone came away impressed. Long story short, if you're in Charlotte for work or even if you're a local, Geno D's stands up with the quality pizza joints in New York City. Excellent pizza aside, the staff was fantastic. There was a bit of a weird incident when my pizza came out and the staff could not have possibly handled things any better. While putting my fixings on the pie as any God-fearing pizza enthusiast should, I noticed there was no garlic powder and informed the staff. They apologized then told me someone probably brought it to their table and they'd go retrieve it for me. Turns out someone did bring the garlic to their table. No biggie, right? Except that when the staff member asked to have the garlic back so another customers could use it, he refused. Instead, he went on a bizarre diatribe with the staff member about why he didn't want to give it back. After listening politely, the staff member told him that my pizza was getting cold, then brought me the garlic. Turns out this rude guy claimed to be a food influencer who was incensed the garlic was taken away to be used by another paying customer. The rude garlic lover was about 4'10 wearing lumberjack plaid and he threatened to give them a bad review and urge his alleged 8 million followers not to patronize their establishment. Putting his obvious lack of pizza etiquette aside, this is simply a staggering display of bad form. It's also petty, especially when he was obviously in the wrong. Anyways, go to Geno D's, a pizza joint that even New York City pizza snobs will love. And if for any reason you see a diminutive dude hoarding the garlic powder, for the love of everything holy, DO NOT disturb him!
