The food menu wasnt long, but there was plenty of variety. We all shared the tasty varied charcuterie. We rounded that out with a crisp mild goat cheese and caramelized onion flatbread, drizzled with a little sweet huckleberry glaze. Cocktails were creative, with several huckleberry choices we tourists love, and a handful of specials 4-6pm. They have nice array of regional craft beers, plus many regulars. There are great views in all directions. Mountains are closest to the east and north, and you can also see them further to the south. We saw some of the advancing spectacular sunset, viewed directly, and watching the color on the mountains. This was perhaps the best dinner&drinks view of our visit. Prices were quite reasonable.

The rooftop views alone are worth the visit -- mountains in every direction and such a great atmosphere, especially around sunset. There's also a free two-hour parking area directly across the street which made it super easy. We shared the bison burger and the peach bourbon wings, and both were excellent. The wings especially had the perfect mix of sweet and spicy. Drinks were also great. What really made the experience stand out though was the service. Our server was a 10th-generation Montanan (wish I remembered her name!) and she was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and attentive the entire time. You could tell she genuinely loved the area and wanted guests to enjoy it too.

I hate to compare but it's crazy how different two places can be in the same hotel. The service here was abysmal. We came at the end of someone's set and it wasn't that crowded in the bar but almost every single table was dirty, with empty glasses on them. There seemed to be one bartender and another person helping. That person literally just stood there talking to people instead of cleaning up the tables. The bartender was pretty rude too and didn't seem to be into working here at all. The only clean table was by the door and it kept getting opened while the next band set up so we just moved to a table with dirty glassware on it. The drinks were pretty lackluster (especially compared to the awesome ones upstairs). I don't think it was that the menu was inferior to the other, I just think the bartender didn't care. Both my drinks were watered down and icy. Pretty sad for the price to be honest. It got pretty crowded for the second set being played so we decided to leave to let other people sit. I wasn't interested in having another icy sad drink.

The atmosphere was beautiful, the music was perfect, and the overall experience was amazing. We decided we had to try the buffalo wings, only to discover they're normally served only on the late-night menu. Tragic. Heartbreaking. We nearly had to call our therapists. But then Sheyne came to the rescue. He went out of his way, convinced the chef to make the wings for us, and basically saved the evening--and possibly our friendship with the LA people. If that is not top-tier customer service, I don't know what is. Sheyne deserves a raise, a trophy, and perhaps his own holiday. From now on, I will be bringing every visitor I have to EST 1864--and I sincerely hope Sheyne lives forever. Amazing food, great vibe, excellent music, and unforgettable service. LA approved... which is honestly the highest compliment possible.

Unfortunately, the service didn't improve from there. I ordered the meatballs, and they had to be sent back twice. The first time they came out cold. The second time they came back mushy that they were inedible. After the second attempt, I asked to have the meatballs removed from the bill since I never received an acceptable dish. Instead of trying to make it right, the bartender told me they would not remove them from the check. Everyone can have an off night, but what really left a bad impression was the lack of customer service and unwillingness to correct the problem. For the amount we spent, I expected much better food, service, and a willingness to stand behind what was served.

The wait is not that long.. we came here as walk in's 2x on our 1week stay that started in Bozeman, went down to Yellowstone, then to Idaho for UTV riding and then to Jackson Hole WY to go see the Teton National Park. It was nice to walk around the local shops while we waited and then afterwards to work off those delicious carbs. Thin crust pizzas clean, fresh, not heavy and seasonal ingredients. The crust is soooo good. Chewy and some char. We had: Montana Burger Royale My teen son dreams about this. Yes its 27.00 and he said its the BEST burger he's ever had. I would have to agree (and we live in Austin TX where there's great cow) -the burger meat melted in your mouth -the egg dripping as you break the yolk was perfection. The bacon so juicy, the brioche bun (that was the winning touch) We shared: Hot Honey Pizza- so good 9/10 Spicy Burrata- also great. 8/10 Mac n cheese- that was the only miss. Way under seasoned and the white sauce seemed to get sucked up by the pasta so the dish was super dry. 3/10 Frites and Fondue- fries were great. Thick cut with finely shaved pecorino. Could have used a heaping more of the shaved cheese. -the fondue was ok, seemed still under seasoned or just not creamy enough? I'd swap that for some roasted garlic with the truffle oil. 6/10 Local brews and ciders were great! 9/10 Huckleberry Cheesecake 9/10 save room for this bad boy. We split it between 4 people. Not too sweet. Tart and delightful! The world cup was on the TV so it was a hopping place even as it rained during a late June evening. Parking garage nearby is free for 2hrs so thats cool! The food and drinks were excellent, but the highlight of the night was Trent. We were looking for recommendations on things to do in the area, and Trent absolutely delivered. The suggestions were coming faster than we could write them down, and every time we thought he was done, he'd remember three more places we needed to see. His food and cocktail recommendations were spot on, and he was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. As an added bonus, his voice carries exceptionally well, so hearing all of those recommendations was never an issue, even on a busy Friday night. Copper is a great spot, but Trent is what made the experience memorable. Food and service was pretty average - we like to order an adult beverage before dinner and peruse the menu. We were told the bar was backed up so we should get our food order in. So, not a take-your-time kinda place. Not rude, but not chill. Shared a 1/2 portion wedge salad @ $12 - perfect for two and tasty. Main entrees were a bit disappointing: 8 oz Tenderloin Filet @ $54 was cooked a bit more than requested and it came with (2) baked potatoes which we've never seen before (+ $4 upcharge). The Pan Seared Trout @ $34 was prepared nicely but there is not any flavor; served w/ a Blackberry BBQ but very sparingly. Super bland. Would come back to visit the bar - would consider ordering a burger, but wouldn't return for the main entrees.
