Tomato Pie Cafe - Salad Near Me - Lititz, Pennsylvania

We love tomato pie! It's one of our favorite places in Lititz we love to get coffees and sweet treats and walk across the street to the park and stroll while we enjoy our coffee. Definitely recommend. read more

Tomato Pie is a restaurant to visit if you're in the Lancaster/ Lititz area! So far I have discovered you can't go wrong with any item on the menu. The herbal lemonade is a favorite of mine and quite a unique beverage item! Also their coffee is delicious as well (which is locally source from Passenger Coffee in downtown Lancaster). So much so, My husband and I were there two days in a row for our coffee fix The waiters and waitresses and barista's are all very friendly and the service is excellent. This is a got to for sure! read more

I am a huge fan of this restaurant! My favorite meal is the ham and brie panini. It is a great place for a good, gourmet, scratch made sandwich, soup or salad for not a whole lot of money. I eat here on a regular basis with friends and family. Their drinks are also quite enjoyable and range from smoothies to coffee drinks. The service has always been great in my experience. As for complaints listed by other Yelpers - yes, the restrooms are small and yes, Tomato Pie is in the process of improving this. As to the comments on the size: This restaurant has plenty of seating (three rooms worth) but is often filled to the brim because it is very popular with the locals. They do not accept reservations for groups of fewer than 6 so your best bet for choice of seating is to arrive before 11 am or after 1:30 pm for lunch. read more

Really good chicken curry salad and three cheese flatbread. The chi latte was great but overpriced for the size. Sat in the courtyard and the ants were all over the bottle of lemon balsamic that stays on the table. Loved the menu. read more

Staying in town for a weekend getaway. Came here for breakfast. Oh my goodness. It is a must try. We had the tomato pie and the quiche of the day! Amazing! Also had lattes that were wonderful. Adorable cafe! read more

This is an amazing place with great food.. very unique food! I absolutely loved it! I will have to go back many times to try all the things that sounded good. We got there when they opened on a Sunday morning because I heard it gets packed. Service and server were very good. I had a small portion of chia pudding with blueberries and an egg flipper with tomato pie, spinach and artichoke. Outstanding! read more

I love this place! I always order the tomato pie, it is wonderful. We live in California and only get to Lititz occasionally to visit family, but we always make it a point to eat here. They briefly ran out of their regular tomato pie one night, so I had the gluten free version and it was still just as good! The kids grilled cheese is great and comes on rainbow bread, which my daughter thought was hilarious! read more

Outstanding food. Great Service. Only been here 1 time but thoroughly impressed. Had the Turkey/Pesto Paninni and the Tomato Basil soup. Food came quick and hot. I tried to resist dessert but caved and tried their Lemon Bar... just great stuff. Going back to try their breakfast in the AM. 2 for 2. Just finished my breakfast of Chicken/Fennel sausage and Butternut Squash Hash with 2 Eggs Up and it was outstanding. My previous grade of 4 is now a perfect 5 stars. I believe this is the beginning of an American Love story. Lol! Seriously though if your nearby stop in you will not be disappointed. read more

Came here for a late dinner on a Saturday night with my lady. Very nice inside. I liked the classic cafe vibe and the old timey music playing. Had cold brew, French press coffee, and the ham and brie panini, all of which were very good. My girl ordered a chai tea latte and the special bacon quiche. Both were delicious per her report. Cool cozy little place definitely worth checking out read more

We visited on a Sunday morning, shortly after 8am. The food was good! Service was subpar, a drink order was missed, and waited too long for check. Additionally, our server was inattentive,...UNTIL he eavesdropped, offered an unsolicited non sequitur to our private conversation! They did not have decaf coffee brewed yet. Some people people prefer decaf, and some people have to select decaf due to being pregnant for instance. I'd go back if wife wanted to go. However, prob wouldn't suggest a visit on my own. I'd like to add that if was within walking distance I'd probably be more inclined to return. read more

My wife and I spent the day walking around and shopping in this quaint little town. We topped it off with a meal at this neat place some friends have recommended to us. We were seated upstairs and it was a very cool spot. Great service, delicious tomatoes pie and if you are there before 2pm as I was the breakfast pretzel sandwich is totally great. read more

So good!! The avocado toast was the perfect serving and had a delicious creamy siracha sauce on top. The coffee was a perfect compliment.

I feel like the staff is snarky and rude! The food isn't anything special and they seem to be out of most bakery items most of the time. Our waiter asked us if we wanted to wait 20 minutes to order if we wanted to order lunch, really? I have tried several times and I am disappointed every time, by the food and staff! read more

New to Lititz and needed to eat breakfast on my first day of work. Found this place, and glad I did. Creative menu choices, nostalgic decor, and Frank Sinatra! I ate the portobello mushroom with eggs platter. Outstanding! Comes with a grit cake that was really good also. Sat at the counter. Reminded me of the old luncheonettes in NY with the old fountains. Staff was friendly. Lastly, they played the oldies. Not a huge fan of that music, but who doesn't like Frank? Highly recommend if you are in this little town. read more

I stumbled upon this quaint little place while searching for some take out close to closing time. Despite it being on the late side, the staff was friendly & welcoming. I ordered the beet salad and a slice of tomato pie. This was my first experience with tomato pie. Both were delicious. The herb scone that accompanied my meal was a unexpected delight for me. It had was warm & buttery with a splash of sweet. I would love to return someday to actually dine in house. I'd like to enjoy a coffee or latte. The tee shirts were adorable & the desserts looked yummy. The outside dining option would be fun. read more

We have been customers of Tomato Pie for years and would eat there regularly before COVID. We introduced many family and friends to the place and have always had wonderful food and service. It has always been our go to place when we were in Lititz. This past Saturday however was different, we left without even eating there. It was a busy fall Saturday in Lititz, we were greeted by the hostess outside who told us that it was a 45 minute wait .She took our name and said that we did not have to wait at the restaurant and told us that when we came back to let her know we returned. I really appreciated this as we were not stuck waiting and were able to get some shopping done. When we were done browsing the stores I checked in and was told that we could be seated next. This was very accommodating and we waited at the most a minute before we were seated. I was very impressed with the hostess and felt that reservations were handled well. Once inside however things changed, we looked at the menu and determined what we wanted. Our waitress passed by and said that she would be with us shortly. About 10 minutes went by but we had no problem waiting as they were busy. After another 5 minutes she passed by and said I will be with you next and came back within a couple of minutes. She said I will take your drink orders now and I told her that we were ready to order. She told us no I will take your drinks only I have other orders to take and have to come back. We told her that we wanted water and was told that they are not serving water because of COVID and that we had to buy a bottle of water for $2.00 each. I only ever drink water with lunch, I do not like soft drinks and try to avoid plastic water bottles as they contain bpa. In the past they served water in a carafe glass bottle and gave you glasses. I am not sure why they are not doing this as they are serving other beverages in regular mugs and glasses. Their tap water has always tasted fine much better than a plastic water bottle. If they are trying to reduce dishes could they not serve the tap water in a paper cup? I don't mind paying higher prices for food due to the pandemic but I feel like they are taking advantage of people by making them pay $2.00 for a plastic bottle of water and saying that it is due to COVID when I have not had any other restaurant do this. We decided to hold off on drinks and the waitress still would not take our food order. We sat waiting for her to come back but after 5 minutes decided to leave and go somewhere else. I have never been told no at any restaurant when wanting to give a food order. While I understand that she was only doing drinks, she could not take 30 seconds to write down our food order? I was not asking to have our order put in ahead of other people but was trying to save time and be more efficient. I really like supporting small business and restaurants especially during this time but have a problem doing so when I feel like I am not an appreciated customer and I will probably not go back to Tomato Pie. read more

Passed through Lititz and decided to stop here on a whim. SO glad we did. Though it was super packed we didn't have to wait long. Their menu is large and has lots to choose from. We ordered a pesto chicken panini, and the classic tomato pie (which came with a savory herb scone). Both were delicious and served with a bed of greens, dressed with lemon white balsamic from a local business down the road called Olio. The food was mouth watering, the decor was charming, and the staff was kind and snazzily dressed. Would definitely return when I come to Lititz again! read more

I couldn't understand how anyone could tolerate a tomato pie, or why someone would want to squelch her business prospects by naming a cafe after one. Then I tried the Tomato Pie Cafe's tomato pie. Twice: I also ordered it for dessert. It is remarkable. For those as lost as I was, let me bear witness: it is a savoury pie. It is not a custard pie (like pumpkin); it has a buttery, herbed crust, a generous melting of oily cheese, big hearty chunks of mild tomato (and sometimes extras like spinach or artichoke), and I suspect some dollops of ricotta. About the only thing bad I can say about it is that, unless you get it right out of the oven, it's served warm, not hot. And sometimes the juicy innards inevitably sog up the flaky bottom. But this is like faulting Jesus for having a foreign accent. It is a heavenly pie. How appropriate, then, that I have spent several lovely Sundays at the Tomato Pie Cafe, sitting at a high table by the window, or at the counter, in the garden or blinking in the sunlight of the second floor balcony, gazing reverently across the street at the stone buildings beside historic Lititz Springs Park. In addition to sandwiches with beets and breakfast specials with sausage and fennel, or buttermilk quinoa pancakes with whipped sage butter and maple syrup, Tomato Pie Cafe knows how to make a latte. In fact, they will make one with rich red rooibos (ROY-bus) tea that is fragrant and silky and a fraction of the caffeine. Brunch is my love language. Few things dismay me more than a lauded local joint with all the trappings of a fancy restaurant (price, decor, attitude) and nondescript food. And few things make me more grateful than wholesome, interesting breakfast options, served with casual consideration in a quirky house. Tomato Pie Cafe wins my (totally unofficial and just now instated) On Orange Restaurant of the Year Award. read more

My friends and I visited Lititz hoping to see the ice sculptures, but due to the warm weather all we saw were puddles. Either way, we decided to make a fun day of it, including stopping in at Tomato Pie Cafe for lunch. We had to wait almost an hour to get a table, so we left our name, browsed around a bit then came back. When we returned, we were told we'd be the next ones seated, so we sat in the little seating area and waited....and waited.....and waited....while at least 3 other groups were seated ahead of us. Finally, when I went back to the hostess stand, she said "Oh, OK...follow me", and took us upstairs to be seated by the window. The ambience was cozy, and we enjoyed being able to look out on all the passers-by. Which we had plenty of time to do, because our server pretty much ignored us. We had to flag down another server who was passing by just to get water. When our server finally came to take our order, he acted as if we were intruding on his time when we had questions about the menu, and got very short with my friend who has several dietary restrictions and asked if he could make a substitution. When we finally got our food, it was underwhelming. I had the bananas foster french toast, which was nothing more than regular french toast with some bananas sliced on top. One of my friends got the "famous" tomato pie, which was tasty but definitely didn't live up to the hype. My other friend had ordered salmon, only to be told AFTER all the rest of our food came out that they were out of salmon, so she opted for just a green salad, which still took a long time to come out. Our server never came back to see how we were doing, never refilled our drinks, and we had to again chase down someone else to get our check. Should I find myself back in Lititz, I think I'll go elsewhere. read more

Good but not amazing. Green machine smoothie was okay, the mushroom tomato pie was also okay. Side salad was just lettuce and greens with dressing. Scone was great and my friend got a pretzel sandwich and strawberry smoothie she really liked. However for the quality and good service the prices are really good read more

I Traveled many hours with my wife, son, and small dog to Lititz to look at real estate and heard great things about this place. We got there at 11 and expected to wait 20 minutes but they took us immediately. We sat outside because of the dog and they stuck us in a busy aisle where my chair was getting bumped constantly by wait staff. One neat thing is they grow all (most?) of their own herbs outside, but was attracting a lot of bees. Granted it's summer and that's a common thing but the yellow jackets, honey bees, and hornets were everywhere. My son and I are allergic so we figured we'd eat fast and go. We were seated a minute or two before a couple behind us who took a while to get their food and I watched one of them pick a hair (not theirs) out of their food(gross!). Not to mention the dressing(?) containers on the tables are wide open, mine had a hair hanging out of it and watched a bee climb out of ours(ew). 30 minutes later our food still wasn't out and we kept being told it was coming. Mind you, we simply ordered some soup, and basic sandwiches. I got swarmed with bees again and gave up waiting, my son and I went inside to calm down and use the bathroom. There were lines of 3-4 people each bathroom. Someone told us we could go upstairs and use the bathroom (wasn't a sign), so we went up and had to wander a bit through what looked like an old house to find it (was kind of cool but annoyjng). We went outside and our food still wasn't done. I went to the register after 40 minutes and since we still didn't have food, just asked to pay for my sons lemonade and leave so we could go elsewhere. A manager was concerned and checked on my food as the waiter came to me and said food was served. I asked to have it wrapped up because we waited way too long and were afraid of the bees and they comped our meal. I was going to pay for it but the manager insisted (thank you, you didn't have to do that). We decided to take our food across the street to a park in a low- bee area and eat. I was not impressed whatsoever. It took 40 minutes to make my son a container of undressed salad greens and small hunk of plain chicken, my wife had a slice of tomato pie and soup, and I had a ham and cheese sandwich. My sandwich was suppose to have Brie, but there wasn't any, and a special mustard which barely had any. It was a slim slice of ham and a lot of bread. To top it off, my wife pulled a curly black hair out of her soup...not hers, and I'm blond. After we saw it we tossed half of our food and went out for fast food instead because clearly food safety isn't an issue if that was the third hair we saw. Overall it was a bad experience, pretentious bad food, dirty and way over hyped. Oh and the "hipster chic" uniforms are ridiculous. Will never return read more

Typically I have good experiences here, but recently a friend and I had a very negative experience. We waited nearly an hour to be served; the server insisted that I had not ordered a beverage when, in fact, I had; and the server was distinctly unpleasant in her interactions with us. This all happened in front of a packed restaurant. On the upside, the manager was calm, changed our server to another, very helpful person, apologized, and covered our tab. So the manager saved what would otherwise have been the kind of experience that would prevent me from going to the restaurant again. read more

Delicious! Stopped here for a bite to eat while we were in Lititz for the day. We loved the tomato pie to try. The flaky crust and creamy filling were divine! Didn't like it as much with the mushrooms in it (made it mushy), but the veggie flat bread and the kids Mac and cheese were great! Wish we'd saved room for dessert as they looked so good! read more

I'm very glad that we stopped here on our short trip to Lititz. For food, order the namesake tomato pie. It's both savory and sweet, with a perfectly textured crust that provides a buttery balance to the tomato. I suggest that you also order the greens as a side instead of the chips, as you'll be able to sprinkle some of the table's lemon vinaigrette on them. This dressing is a combination of smooth and tart, and very refreshing for a hot day. I also tried some of my friends' dishes, and out of those, I recommend the grilled cheese and the blueberry mint smoothie if it is being served that day. The ambience is very cute, which matches the neighborhood that it's located in. You can budget some time before or after the meal to walk around and explore some of the small shops that are within walking distance. To that end, when using the street-metered parking, I would add a few extra coins to account for any extra meandering. read more
