For Lititz, this is a step in the right direction. Finally a sit down coffeeshop with real meals. Tomato Pie only has one problem, they're service is TERRIBLE. They have forgotten I was there mulitple times, they're incredibly slow, and their wait staff needs improvement with basics like drink refills and when to give you your check. Tomato Pie Cafe had the worst service we've ever experienced in the 'coolest small town in America'. We were the only people inside the cafe when we ordered ONE cafe mocha. (There were people sitting outside on the patio--maybe 6 tables?) 5-8 mins later we ordered our meals. We were over halfway through with our meal when the coffee was brought out....Exactly 1/2 hour after placing the order! And on top of that.....NO APOLOGIES WHATSOEVER!!!!!! This is my all time favorite place! I come here so often but I never get tired of it because they add new menu items each month. Everything is unique but has the best flavor! The coffee is a little bitter, if you don't like strong coffee I would order a specialty coffee drink. They offer chips or greens with each meal and the homemade dressing is delicious! Ate at Tomato Pie tonight for the first time. Amazing food! We had the tomato pie and the Fig Arugula Goat Cheese Flatbread. Delicious! Service was great, too. Not just good--G R E A T! Our waitress was fantastic (she wore a funky white fedora). So why only 4 stars? Some muscle-bound lunkhead was hanging out talking to the waitresses, and the whiff of conversation I heard was inappropriate for such a classy place. I had to wait several minutes for three waitresses to notice me standing six feet away while they talked to him and blocked the path of the other two waitresses who were actually WORKING. As a result, a waitress carrying food was bumped by one of the lazy ones and food went everywhere. To the Owner of Tomato Pie--Get your waitstaff in order. The lazy ones are making the place look bad. Throw Steroid Stephen out the door and axe the lazy girls. The hardworking waitresses deserve better. Your restaurant is just too darn good to be spoiled by these unnecessary bodies. read more

I have eaten here for years but unfortunately my recent experience has left something wanting - particularly with the service. Drink orders were brought out several times but were repeatedly wrong. And the quiche of the day was substituted without informing me: the server said it was a vegetarian option but what I got was a meat based one. The server appeared not to know what was going on with the menu or the kitchen. Additionally, they should really reconsider the restrooms - an airplane bathroom is larger. this is place that women will love and men, real men, will think is a little too quaint. Place has a real feminine aura about it. Women who love crafts and scrapbooking go here. Located in an old house with creaky floors, the food was pretty good, not great, and a tad pricey given the serving amounts. Service was excellent once they remembered we were seated upstairs. Bathroom was incredibly tight. You could literally sit on the toilet and rest your chin on the sink, without leaning forward. At 6'1" and 210 lbs. I could barely squeeze into the bathroom. Anyone larger than me weight wise might have to be pried out. read more

Pretty disappointed in my most recent visit to this place, I must say, which was about a month ago. I will state up front that I had eaten at Tomato Pie Cafe two times previously and thought it was good/borderline excellent. This most recent time, however, I arrived about 20 minutes before closing time on a Thursday night. I realize this was pretty late but I still expected to get the same good food as I had before. After all, I had traveled OVER 30 minutes to get there because I had liked this place enough to keep coming back during my travels to the area. My food was just not very good. I ordered a simple grilled cheese sandwich with tomato and artichokes and it was not melted nearly enough nor was it anywhere near as hot as it should have been. I also got tomato basil soup which tasted like, well, it had been sitting in a pot all day. I guess it had. Again, these menu entries weren't terribly complicated...you've got to work pretty hard to mess them up! I find it irritating when restaurants perform so poorly simply because it's near closing time and the staff wants to go home. It is simply unprofessional. Whoever owns this place should tell the staff that this kind of performance is unacceptable. And then send in someone, unknown to them, near closing time and report back on the experience. read more

Wasn't sure what kind of tomato pie it would be, but it was delicious. The decor was right out of the 1920s including the pleasant staff. I also had strawberry lemonade, which was very good. My son had the GF pie and raves about it. Just one more reason we love Lititz! read more

Oh my word! I can't say enough about this place. Soooooo goooood! What we tried today: * egg and ham panini -- crunchy, warm, cheesy. Set off with pesto mayo for dipping -- I almost fell off of my stool. * ham and cheese panini -- flavorful combination of ham, basil, cheese, and a touch of fruit jam. * tomato bisque -- piping hot and loaded with tomato flavor. One cute little basil leaf was floating on the top. * loaded baked potato soup -- just a perfectly rich and warming soup on a cold, rainy day. * coffee -- I hope you like dark roast. We didn't think to ask what the coffee was like so after about 5 sugars and all of the cream they put before us we had coffee more to our liking. The restaurant was well staffed and service was attentive, the food arrived in good time, and the place was quite busy for a weekday. The wonderful woman behind the bar was working on a hot apple cider drink to go with the fall season. She had cider mixed with cream which was going to be steamed with caramel syrup and topped with fresh cinnamon. We will be back soon!!! read more

Signature Tomato pie was soggy and served barely room temperature. Spinach, feta and walnut salad took no effort, thrown together. The place looks over staffed and the staff conversed among themselves the whole time I was there. The waitress opened my wine, broke the cork, leaving half the cork in the bottle. When I asked for a spare cork to take the bottle home she told me the half cork would work. A real disappointing dining experience. read more

We had lunch at the Tomato Pie Cafe today. The food was just delicious!! I had tomato bisque & a pear and blue cheese salad. My husband had a maple turkey toasted sandwich with apples & Brie, & my grandson had a regular turkey sandwich on a pretzel roll. We shared two strawberry milkshakes made with ice cream. After hearing the specials for the day, I opted for the white chicken chili (gf) & my SO ordered the burger on a gf bread, Goat cheese, with carrot fries. We are both gluten & dairy free; I want to emphasize that as part of our healthy lifestyle, we also don't do sugar. We've been to this location several times previously as well as the Harrisburg location and was never disappointed until today. Ten minutes lapsed before water was brought to our table; our order was taken approximately 15 minutes later. We ordered hot drinks which took another 20 minutes for them to arrive to our table, with an apology for taking so long, from the person who brought them(not our waitress). When the food was brought to our table, about 25 minutes later, my SO pointed out there was a regular roll not gf with his burger. Jen H politely returned it to the kitchen for gf bread. She asked if my chili was ok; I pointed out that the chili was tomato broth based, not white chicken chili; I assumed I misunderstood. I reluctantly ate it. She confirmed that the manager calls it white chicken chili but is actually tomato broth based. My SO then asked me to try the carrot "fries" which I did- they were carrot sticks, crunchy as in uncooked, no seasoning and he pointed out to me that there was no goat cheese on his burger. We were both starving, having eaten breakfast at 930 am and shopping until we arrived here; we didn't want to create an issue and ate the food, vowing not to return again. When Jen H asked how everything was, I was honest and relayed the above issues to her. She offered us dessert ( we're gf, Df and sugar free) or a drink to go. We politely declined and asked her to speak to the manager. When she returned, Jen H gave us the check; when I asked what the manager said , she told us that "well , you ate the food. You should have returned it. " I went from mildly annoyed to angry and I inquired about a % off, minimally, other ideas? Jen H said that's why she offered us dessert or a drink. We won't be back and I'm spreading the word; I feel the manager was extremely disrespectful & disregarded our concerns. Some type of amenable agreement could have been reached had there been interest in doing so. Instead here we are. We were there for one hour and 45 minutes...all for a mislabeled chili, wrong burger roll, raw fries and no goat cheese as requested. I'd like to speak with a manager. read more

We stopped at that busy little restaurant on Dec 31. It was mid-afternoon and they were pretty crowded / we had to wait a while for a table. The building is really old and decorated nicely. The wait staff definitely does not look like they come from Lititz. They all wore hats / berets. The menu was limited, but there's enough on it to find something that looks good. We ordered various breakfast and lunch dishes. The food was served in a reasonable amount of time. We had the sweet potato with mascarpone on grilled brioche. The first few bites were delicious, but overall, the dish was really heavy. Same for the signature tomato pie. It was tasty, but extremely heavy. The breakfast sliced salmon on bagel was excellent. We had coffee with the meal and it was good, served hot with refills coming without being asked. read more

We recently visited Lititz on a scouting trip in advance of a potential move to the area. Several friends and colleagues in the area recommended that we try the Tomato Pie Cafe--boy, were they right! The food and service were both terrific during a Monday lunch. But I really must compliment their customer service, which is above and beyond. I left behind a jacket and, unfortunately, did not realize it until we were back home in Colorado. But the staff, the manager and even the owner all helped track down the jacket and returned it to me at their expense. It now looks like we will be moving to that area later this year. Needless to say, we will be returning for more good food and service. And if I should leave my jacket behind again, at least I will be able to swing by and retrieve it next time. read more

And that fact that it pleased my mom too is pretty unspeakable. If you remember one thing: GET THE TOMATO PIE!! It's not going to be an Italian slice of tomato pie. You will literally be getting a pie filled with tomatoes, which sounds gross but trust me, was delightful. The savory rosemary scone and field green with their house white, lemon balsamic (on every table) was a crowd pleasure too. Overall, if you like fresh food and a cheap bill, this is your place! Loved this place. Went to lunch here while in Lintz. I had never eaten a Tomato Pie before. Tried the Tomato Artichoke Pie that was so absolutely delicious. So much so that I dream about it. The Slice of Tomato pie with a side of salad made for an amazing lunch. Oh yes, they also have amazing hummus. My only sadness is that they do not ship their pies to California. I did call I did ask. I guess I will have to return to Lintz. Service was excellent. My children enjoyed their meals as well. A great little find while driving through Pennsylvania. read more
