So I have been waiting a few days to write this review because I was so upset. I went to therapy yesterday and he suggested that i speak to the owners but they were not in so here I am. There is a woman by the name of Angela that works there. The reason I am so upset is because she is the manager! I had a problem with my check on something that was mistakenly put on and the server was trying to help to void it. Angela came to my table with a confused and irritated look on her face. She had such an attitude in her voice. All because I asked for my eggs to be remade and I wasn't expecting to pay the full amount due to what the server told me. She abruptly picked up my plate in a fast motion, knocking the silverwear all over the ground and then told me, 'this is fine this time but next even if you don't like the eggs you will have to pay full price' I'm a very sensitve person and have struggled with depression and anxiety all my life. Shame on me for waking up and craving eggs! I wish I never had left my house...After the altercation I cried in my car for 10 minutes before I was able to go in the house. I felt personally attacked. I am not used to being treated with so much disrespect. Not only that but i have heard the way she speaks to the employees. She treats them with complete disrespect. I have seen her turn around and have this fake smile as if nothing just happened. I have been going here for years now and I love the food! The servers are very cheery and up beat... But this woman, how did she get the manager role? From now on I am going to go thru a delivery service... I might even just go to my other local diner just so I don't have to see this horrid woman. ***Note to the management. Please get a new manager, someone who won't verbally and emotionally attack customers. read more

Ate at Tomato Pie tonight for the first time. Amazing food! We had the tomato pie and the Fig Arugula Goat Cheese Flatbread. Delicious! Service was great, too. Not just good--G R E A T! Our waitress was fantastic (she wore a funky white fedora). So why only 4 stars? Some muscle-bound lunkhead was hanging out talking to the waitresses, and the whiff of conversation I heard was inappropriate for such a classy place. I had to wait several minutes for three waitresses to notice me standing six feet away while they talked to him and blocked the path of the other two waitresses who were actually WORKING. As a result, a waitress carrying food was bumped by one of the lazy ones and food went everywhere. To the Owner of Tomato Pie--Get your waitstaff in order. The lazy ones are making the place look bad. Throw Steroid Stephen out the door and axe the lazy girls. The hardworking waitresses deserve better. Your restaurant is just too darn good to be spoiled by these unnecessary bodies. read more

WOW. Just wow. And NOT in a good way. My friends and I ordered our food to-go and planned to eat it at the park across the street with our toddlers and babies. When we arrived to pick it up, there were several tables open so we asked the hostess if we could just eat it inside, given that the high that day was 90 degrees and we and our children were sweating, red-faced, and overheated (I should also mention that I was 42 weeks pregnant and extremely overheated myself....yes, I said 42 weeks, very overdue). We were kindly seated, brought high chairs, got comfortable and settled at the table, when a woman came over and explained we would have to leave because our food was already bagged up and these tables were for eat-in customers only. We asked if we could stay because I was not feeling well from the heat. I was clearly shaky, and really needed to sit down in the air conditioning. She told us we could sit outside on the patio (IN THE HEAT) and smugly said no, we cannot stay inside. Mind you, we had just purchased about $75 worth of food from the restaurant, but the main point is that she did not ask, but point blank told a very overly pregnant woman and two other mothers with young children (ages 1-2) that we had to leave and sit outside in the unbearable heat with dangerously high temperatures AFTER ALREADY BEING SAT BY THE WAIT STAFF. Our children were behaving; there was no other reason for us to be told to leave. When I asked the hostess why they sat us if we would only be told to leave minutes later, she explained that she didn't realize the policy that if our food was "to-go" we couldn't sit down at a table. With now crying children and me sweating and extremely upset, we attempted to sit outside on benches and eat. After a few minutes I became too hot and shaking, I somehow walked back to the car and drove straight to the doctor. I was found to be dehydrated and hypoglycemic. My husband left work to come to the doctor to be with me. Thankfully after 2 hours of testing the baby was found to be ok. I HAVE NEVER SEEN OR EXPERIENCED SUCH POOR SERVICE IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. I would never eat here again and will tell anyone and everyone our story. Needless to say, our husbands were extremely angry and phoned to speak to management about what happened. We are all still in shock from the experience. Also, my turkey burger was terrible. It tasted something like organic dog food. Husband couldn't bear to eat it either so it went in the trash. this is place that women will love and men, real men, will think is a little too quaint. Place has a real feminine aura about it. Women who love crafts and scrapbooking go here. Located in an old house with creaky floors, the food was pretty good, not great, and a tad pricey given the serving amounts. Service was excellent once they remembered we were seated upstairs. Bathroom was incredibly tight. You could literally sit on the toilet and rest your chin on the sink, without leaning forward. At 6'1" and 210 lbs. I could barely squeeze into the bathroom. Anyone larger than me weight wise might have to be pried out. read more

YUM. Tons of vegetarian options, real greens for the salads and you can tell they are using real ingredients (like actual butter). They make food like I like to cook: fresh, high quality ingredients, inventive, and full of flavor. The Tomato pie on the menu does not disappoint. The herbed lemonade was refreshing. I will be going back. I will recommend to my foodie friends. Friendly staff, great location, parking is difficult, great atmosphere. read more

It's always very busy here. Don't be surprised if there's a wait. The food is high quality. I've had the grilled cheese (vermont cheddar & muenster) and their ham & brie pannini. Excellent! Oh my word! I can't say enough about this place. Soooooo goooood! What we tried today: * egg and ham panini -- crunchy, warm, cheesy. Set off with pesto mayo for dipping -- I almost fell off of my stool. * ham and cheese panini -- flavorful combination of ham, basil, cheese, and a touch of fruit jam. * tomato bisque -- piping hot and loaded with tomato flavor. One cute little basil leaf was floating on the top. * loaded baked potato soup -- just a perfectly rich and warming soup on a cold, rainy day. * coffee -- I hope you like dark roast. We didn't think to ask what the coffee was like so after about 5 sugars and all of the cream they put before us we had coffee more to our liking. The restaurant was well staffed and service was attentive, the food arrived in good time, and the place was quite busy for a weekday. The wonderful woman behind the bar was working on a hot apple cider drink to go with the fall season. She had cider mixed with cream which was going to be steamed with caramel syrup and topped with fresh cinnamon. We will be back soon!!! read more

Tried their tomato pie. It was cold. Come to find out they had gotten numerous health violations for improper storing and heating temperatures of their grub. As well as employee hygiene and the lack thereof (most importantly hand washing). Haven't been back. read more

Pretty disappointed in my most recent visit to this place, I must say, which was about a month ago. I will state up front that I had eaten at Tomato Pie Cafe two times previously and thought it was good/borderline excellent. This most recent time, however, I arrived about 20 minutes before closing time on a Thursday night. I realize this was pretty late but I still expected to get the same good food as I had before. After all, I had traveled OVER 30 minutes to get there because I had liked this place enough to keep coming back during my travels to the area. My food was just not very good. I ordered a simple grilled cheese sandwich with tomato and artichokes and it was not melted nearly enough nor was it anywhere near as hot as it should have been. I also got tomato basil soup which tasted like, well, it had been sitting in a pot all day. I guess it had. Again, these menu entries weren't terribly complicated...you've got to work pretty hard to mess them up! I find it irritating when restaurants perform so poorly simply because it's near closing time and the staff wants to go home. It is simply unprofessional. Whoever owns this place should tell the staff that this kind of performance is unacceptable. And then send in someone, unknown to them, near closing time and report back on the experience. read more

This is my all time favorite place! I come here so often but I never get tired of it because they add new menu items each month. Everything is unique but has the best flavor! The coffee is a little bitter, if you don't like strong coffee I would order a specialty coffee drink. They offer chips or greens with each meal and the homemade dressing is delicious! Good food, but be aware that if you order a gluten free meal - which is labeled as gluten free - is not gluten free! They serve gluten scones with your gluten free meal. I called and asked why they did that. They said you have to tell your waiter that you're gluten free in addition to ordering a gluten free meal. Because scones crumble, the crumbs were in my gluten free meal. There must be a better way to keep gluten free customers safe. read more

I like Tomato Pie Cafe! It's a great spot and is usually always busy. That being said, sometimes you get more of a wait than you'd expect when ordering such simple dishes. It can a tight squeeze in there as well, but I love the out door seating when the weather is nice. I enjoyed their tea selection and have had lunch and breakfast here on numerous occasions. Great little spot in Lititz. I'd say it is one of the better places to get lunch downtown. read more

I had the cilantro lime bowl which was pretty good with the shrimp. Service was nice, it's a charming place for sure. It took a surprisingly long time to get our food, however. I would go back and try the 3 cheese flatbread that my friend had- it looked so delicious and cheesy that it made me slightly jealous ;) read more

Signature Tomato pie was soggy and served barely room temperature. Spinach, feta and walnut salad took no effort, thrown together. The place looks over staffed and the staff conversed among themselves the whole time I was there. The waitress opened my wine, broke the cork, leaving half the cork in the bottle. When I asked for a spare cork to take the bottle home she told me the half cork would work. A real disappointing dining experience. read more

We stopped at that busy little restaurant on Dec 31. It was mid-afternoon and they were pretty crowded / we had to wait a while for a table. The building is really old and decorated nicely. The wait staff definitely does not look like they come from Lititz. They all wore hats / berets. The menu was limited, but there's enough on it to find something that looks good. We ordered various breakfast and lunch dishes. The food was served in a reasonable amount of time. We had the sweet potato with mascarpone on grilled brioche. The first few bites were delicious, but overall, the dish was really heavy. Same for the signature tomato pie. It was tasty, but extremely heavy. The breakfast sliced salmon on bagel was excellent. We had coffee with the meal and it was good, served hot with refills coming without being asked. read more

I have eaten here for years but unfortunately my recent experience has left something wanting - particularly with the service. Drink orders were brought out several times but were repeatedly wrong. And the quiche of the day was substituted without informing me: the server said it was a vegetarian option but what I got was a meat based one. The server appeared not to know what was going on with the menu or the kitchen. Additionally, they should really reconsider the restrooms - an airplane bathroom is larger. All of this after a 35 minute wait. Will really reconsider any return visit. read more

My sister and I came across this place a few weeks ago. Each shop owner was recommending it as we shopped so we went. It was incredible! We had the tomato bisque and we wanted to lick the cup. The tomato pie was unbelievably delicious! I would love the recipe and I will expect to see this place featured on Food Network someday! read more

I had a blended caramel latte and a peanut butter Nutella and banana panini, and it was one of the best meals I've ever had!! Very creative foods and reasonable prices. It's right across the street from Wilber's chocolate too, so you can get some good chocolate after a great meal! read more

Wasn't sure what kind of tomato pie it would be, but it was delicious. The decor was right out of the 1920s including the pleasant staff. I also had strawberry lemonade, which was very good. My son had the GF pie and raves about it. Just one more reason we love Lititz! read more

We'd been trying to get to this place for a while (not open on Sundays) and finally made it. SO worth the trip! Their tomato pie is TO.DIE.FOR!!! They mix up a great hummus too. Loved this place. Went to lunch here while in Lintz. I had never eaten a Tomato Pie before. Tried the Tomato Artichoke Pie that was so absolutely delicious. So much so that I dream about it. The Slice of Tomato pie with a side of salad made for an amazing lunch. Oh yes, they also have amazing hummus. My only sadness is that they do not ship their pies to California. I did call I did ask. I guess I will have to return to Lintz. Service was excellent. My children enjoyed their meals as well. A great little find while driving through Pennsylvania. read more

Sat down and waited ten minutes for drinks- person with me never got their drink. Never checked back in on us after our order and waited/ sat there for 40 minutes- everyone who sat down after us got their food and was almost done and no one said anything or checked in on us. We never got our soup/ sandwiches. We were ignored completely. Never again. read more

We had lunch at the Tomato Pie Cafe today. The food was just delicious!! I had tomato bisque & a pear and blue cheese salad. My husband had a maple turkey toasted sandwich with apples & Brie, & my grandson had a regular turkey sandwich on a pretzel roll. We shared two strawberry milkshakes made with ice cream. We sat outside in the back, a comfortable, pretty place. Can't wait to go back next time we're in town! read more

I've dined here a few times, mostly on 2nd Friday Lititz mainly because it's casual and a step up from the Friz and Freeze. Overall the food was good although the menu was limited. The atmosphere is quant but cramped and their ordering procedure is a bit confusing....still haven't decided if it has waitress service or self order because it seems to be a little of both. Which leaves the timeless question to tip or not to tip? They're known for their tomato pie but not being a fan of tomatoes can't really say if it lives up to all the hype. On one occasion they had brought in live music but I don't feel this is the venue for that and limited the space and increased the noise level even more. If you're looking for a comfortable place to have a conversation and linger I would say keep looking. If you're in the mood for a quick cup of coffee or salad this hits the spot. read more

Not terribly impressed this morning. Food wasn't bad but an extra charge for syrup when you order French toast?? Ha! You must be joking...sadly no. And it certainly would have been nice if the waiter would have mentioned it when he asked if we wanted syrup with the Fr toast. read more

Great service and even better food. My mom had the Tomato Pie, which is not like the Philly tomato pie - this one was similar to a quiche with hearty stewed tomatoes and cheese. I had the pesto chicken panini and it was delicious. We were lucky enough to grab one of the outside tables, but the patio was closed for a priate function. I would definitely go back to this place anytime! read more
