We ate a late lunch at Tokyo Chick during the weekend. I ordered the fried boneless chicken bento ($18.73 after tax). You order at a kiosk, and the cashier provides you your meal on a tray at the front. You can check in on Yelp for a free nightlight or dessert. My food came to me quickly (about 5-10 minutes). The bento gives you vegetables, pickled vegetables, an egg, one piece of gyoza, and rice. They spread the sauce on the chicken, but I wish they cooked the chicken with the sauce to give it more flavor. The chicken still tasted very delicious with its tenderness on the inside and savory breading. The bento portion is large, but one little thing I noticed was that although they add pickled vegetables, you can still serve yourself the same thing. You can also get your own sauce to try out different flavors. The ambience is definitely cute. They have Tochi in front of their restaurant for pictures. I love how its expression is just a blank stare. As for parking, they don't validate. I parked at the Paseo Colorado for $12. The antique shop nearby validates for 90 minutes. I'm not sure how the prorated parking fee worked, but I still paid the $12 daily maximum despite the validation barcode I received on my ticket.

I very nice fried chicken place in Pasadena. I loved that their chickens were really crispy. Not sure how they did it but it was still crispy on the second day of refrigerator. The dessert was very good too. It's jelly with fruit boba. The price was great for the amount and flavor.

Really amazing chicken available in combos and bento boxes made super transportable. The chicken was tender and in a generous portion, and all the sides were solid. The service took a minute and everything came out hot and fresh. Most people come in and order to go so there's a lot of hustle and bustle. If you're near the convention center and want something fast, this is a solid choice.

We don't come by Old Town Pasadena too often so when we stopped by Tokyo Chick, we went all out on our ordering: * 6 pc garlic soy wings combo with fountain drink ($15.49) * katsu curry bento box ($15.49) * spicy chicken sandwich ($9.49) * spam musubi ($3.99) * katsu musubi ($4.99) * spam and tamago musubi ($4.99) For $1.50 more, I upgraded the fountain drink in the wings combo for their specialty drinks -- I tried their honey green tea. My favorites out of the order were the spicy chicken sandwich (it's HUGE!!) and all of their musubis. They have around three booths and a long counter for indoor seating. If you come during a busy time, it'll be easier to take to-go. Make sure to check in on Yelp for a free chick night light. Parking can be a challenge in Pasadena. I like coming after 6 pm for the free meters (look around the city hall area for open spots).

The fried chicken was very good! They had potatoe wedges which were perfectly fried. I prefer the plan chicken and just getting sauce for others who want it sauced. Just the plain fried chicken itself was already very tasty. I checked in and got their cute little mascot. Adorable little light. The service was great. Everyone was very polite. Food came out piping hot! We order to go, and it smelled amazing!

A perfect fry on their fried chicken! Crispy and not oily. Yum! They seem to make the chicken to order so it can take a little while for your food to be ready. It's worth the wait. I'd rather have freshly fried chicken than a quick greasy bite. The steamed veggies and pickled radishes are a nice complement to the chicken. Helps to cut the saltiness. Lost a star because it's not a big place and isn't the most comfortable when dining in on a busy Saturday.

I read another Yelpie's review on Tokyo Chick and saw their photos. I was amazed so I had to check them out. I came here on 2023 New Year's Eve. Surprised to see they were going to open for 24 hours due to New Year's Day Pasadena Rose Parade. Thank you for their support! Staff was super friendly and nice. I believe one of them was the owner himself. I could have used the kiosk to order, but I didn't. I walked up to the counter to order instead. The nice lady was kind to answer my questions and offer some food recommendations. Thank you! I got the 6 piece signature crispy wings + wedge fries + upgrade to homemade drink for $1.50 more (free refills). Price was reasonable. With my Yelp check-in, they gave me a free dessert (mixed jelly)... this was so yummy! Thank you! Wings were of good size and incredibly delicious... it was crispy and had a good crunch... it did not have that oily taste whatsoever. Chicken was moist, but I noticed most of the bones were already broken in half when I took my first bite. I guess it doesn't matter since I'm not eating the bones, but just thought that was interesting. Wedge fries were good, but I wish they were a little bit more crispier. As for the homemade drink, I chose the honey green tea... very light and refreshing. The other 2 homemade drink options are lime yuzu and strawberry lemonade. I also ordered some bento boxes, more chicken, and more mixed jelly to-go. Got the katsu with curry, yuzu wings, and chicken curry bento boxes. Each bento box comes with various sides such as white rice, pickled carrots and daikon, steamed veggies, 1 pan fried dumpling, and half an egg. As for the extra chicken, I went with chicken only so got 6 wings and 5 drumsticks. Since I didn't want the fries and drink that came with the combo, they took off $3.00 from the combo price. That works for me. My daughters and I haven't eaten the bento boxes yet so I can't comment on them at this time. However, I had one observation... the chicken curry sauce got all over the other sides in the box container... maybe they can cover the curry chicken to prevent sauce leakage over to the other sections... just my 2 cents. As for the chicken wings and drumsticks, they were a big hit!!! I would recommend getting the signature crispy style for the chicken and try all their 8 sauces unless you prefer to have your sauce tossed in with your chicken. Sauces are available for your taking at the condiments station. I tried 5 sauces... garlic soy and Tokyo spicy are my favorites. They have a promotion at this time... when you spend $20 or more, you get a Tochi night light for free (while supplies last). I don't know how much they sell it for if you don't spend $20 or more. Since I made a few purchases over $20 each, I got a few Tochi(s). They are really cute. Btw, their take-out bags are cute, too. What I find fascinating about this place is their Tochi art wall. They have chalk readily available for customers to draw on the wall. If you're an artist, this place may be the place for you to enjoy some great tasting fried chicken and share your passion of drawing. Happy eats and have fun! I'll see you here! Btw, there is street parking. Pay for parking stations are all around. Please do read the street signs. There may be a few parking garages nearby as well.

Overall delicious fried chicken. Portion very generous and all pieces are huge and meaty. Fried chicken coating very crispy & meat-to-breading ratio is perfect (meaning = not only all breading like some places). We got the wasabi flavor. The wasabi gives it a little kick and there is some creamy sauce that pairs pretty well. Tip: We ate ours with rice. Flavor is pretty strong and fatty, and the rice balances perfectly for me. Hubby likes it with or without rice. The fries is potato wedges. They're not super crispy, probably because we got them to-go, but they are creamy on the inside. Seasoning is perfect, not too salty, definitely go well with the-very-flavorful-chicken. Staff were really nice and place was really clean. You can park in the back. There is an sketchy-looking-alley to enter the parking lot.

Great spot for lunch if you are in the area. Great ambiance - love the cute chalkboard art that anyone can add to. Chalk is right on the counter so let your creative juices flow. Service - spot on. I also had the spam musubi and spam + tamago musubi, both were excellent but where the business really shines is the chicken. We also ordered the Fuji Wasabi Wings Combo and you get some great tasting wings with thick cut steakfries. For the drink, I like to mix the homemade honey tea with some of the yuzu lemonade. We also did the Yelp check in for the free milk jelly dessert and its is delicious. Light and sweet with some popping boba for fun. The owners are super nice!

Never expected such great service from a fried chicken shop! Staff were dressed in chicken onesies and super friendly and welcoming with huge smiles on their faces when I walked in They also had a raffling event and free goodie bags. I got a super cute baby chick night light. The food itself was delicious, the chicken perfectly crispy even though I ordered to-go and didn't eat my meal until much later. I was pleasantly surprised! 4 stars Ordered this through UberEats today. On the app, the combo was BOGO free and it said 6pc combo, but I think I got 8 generous pieces per box! The fries are seasoned potato wedges, which were quite tasty. If there's anything I wish they'd change is to give one sauce without charge amd maybe make the pieces bite-sized. Otherwise, it was very good. The apps promo came with a free cute chick nightlight. I thought it was the squeezable nightlight, but it isn't. There is a switch underneath the nightlight. Still, very very cute!

Food was actually delishhhh!!! The chicken was so good. Highly recommend their garlic soy. Super tasty and perfectly crisp. Fat fries were pretty decent too but their highlight is their chicken. Service was quick and friendly. Inside aesthetics was clean and modern.

This place is located a few blocks away from Old Town Pasadena and probably the only Japanese fried chicken around the area. Their fried chicken comes in wings, drumsticks, and boneless. I've ordered take out twice from here and the quality is consistent both times. The wings are my favorite, the batter is super crispy and the meat is juicy and flavorful. They also have a self serve sauce bar with 6-7 difference sauces to choose from. I always go with original crispy chicken and choose the soy garlic and the tokyo spicy sauce as dipping sauces. Their combo meals come with crispy fat fries/potato wedges and a soda. Parking: can be tricky. Theres metered parking on the streets or public parking structures in old town, which you would need to walk 2-3 blocks.

Ordered some for the office and we really enjoyed our meal! The chicken was tasty and crispy. The fried rice was delicious! Lots of rice and minimal vegetables--my favorite way! The bento box contained a lot of food. I had a filling lunch and was able to save a little for a small snack later. The prices are super reasonable too! The absolute best chicken spot around. I live in Glendale and have been coming here quite often. Prices and portions are great. Everyone is friendly and the place is nice. Highly recommend this spot to anyone who enjoys chicken. I personally get the garlic soy and have yet to try anything else. First found out about Tokyo Chick when they gave out FREE drinks, tochi lamps, and coupons at the Rose Bowl Flea Market. Godsends! It was 100 degrees and they gave out free house-made lemonades of the best flavors. The service and marketing is incredible, so many deals, freebies, and fun games. I decided to visit them the next day to try it out and they gave me the BIGGEST chicken sandwich I have ever seen. It was the size of my face. It tasted as good as it looked -- crunchy and juicy at the same time. The "fat fries" were perfectly soft and crispy potato wedges, all for $12! The soy garlic wings were also delicious, they tasted not just glazed but marinated in sauce! Wings were $15. I also have to mention the condiment bar -- they are NOT stingy with the sauce, unlike other fried chicken places! Ranch, honey mustard, spicy mayo, soy garlic, wasabi, and MORE. Free pickled radish and banana peppers as well. The restaurant is new and clean! Beautiful chalk wall art with an interactive message section for Tochi. This place is awesome. The chicken is crispy and delicious. The service is also exceptional, there is a lot of attention to detail from the variety of dipping sauces (highly recommend the Wasabi sauce) to the house made teas and drinks. The chicken sandwich is huge and cooked to perfection with a juicy center, honestly the best fried chicken I have had in a while. I ate in and the restaurant is super clean with all the cooking done out in the open. The ambiance is your typical fast casual with comfortable but limited seats, no table service. The cashier was really nice and the chicken was delicious. The amount of crispness was perfect alongside the flavoring. The wait wasn't too long and I don't mind since it's made to order My friend and I weren't sure what flavors to get they all sounded good. The cashier said we can just get them plain and dip them with the sauce on the side. My friend and I personally loved the wasabi dipping sauce. I'm so happy my Aunt brought me to this new delicious spot! As soon as we walked in, we were welcomed by the owner, who was very helpful and friendly. We ordered the garlic soy wings combo and Tokyo spicy wings bento. Both flavors were yummy and the chicken was crispy, fresh, and tender. The potato wedges were flavorful and the bento came with a variety of tasty Japanese sides. The homemade iced tea was refreshing especially on a hot day. We also got a free cute night light chick with our meal! Definitely coming back again for good food and good vibes :) read more

Awsome store with amazing chicken love it！！！This restaurant had the wow factor, the place is quite big and well located, and it exceeded expectations from the presentation to the taste of the ingredients! The flavors are superb and it's appetizing at first glance, but the portions are small. Really clean restaurant. The workers are nice. There's a computer you can order from or a register person. I got their bento. It was all....one note. The chicken was crispy and hot but there was no taste to the chicken. The sauce was all sweet, not a lot of spice even though I got spicy. It's almost like Tawainese fried chicken--which is not karaage at all. So the chicken to me is like a better version of the chicken you get a lot boba. I was hoping it would come with a salad but it was boiled vegetables, a cold half hard boiled egg, a cold piece of gyoza and some rice with a bunch of unnecessary fuikake. I also got a side of the soy garlic chicken. If I could do this again, I would go to the register girl because instead of a la carte I ended up getting a combo with fries. So my other issue was packaging: The potential for sogginess. There aren't any vents for the bento. For the combo with fries there are holes so that was good. But if you get the combo for fries, the fries are at the bottom of the chicken so I got weirdly sauced soggy fries. Spent $36 all in all. Not worth it. Never going back. Sticking to bonchon or BBQ Chicken. If anything, I'd get a snack there waiting for Lunasaia read more

Loved everything about this place. First time visiting, tried the "Original crispy" wings and the Tokyo Spicy Boneless. Both were GREAT. The chicken itself was well seasoned and cooked to perfection. The crust on both was lightly salted and crunchy. The Tokyo Spicy had a bit of a kick but it's definitely not too spicy. The staff were super attentive and made us feel welcomed. They even held back on the salt/seasoning on one of our orders which is difficult to do with fried chicken. Their combos come with delicious fries and a drink which included ice teas. Quick service and take out. Strongly recommend it! Btw, their take out bag snaps. Great presentation/option for a solo meal or potlucks/hangouts. read more

Came today for the grand opening. I ordered 12 pieces of the garlic soy chicken wings. The wait for me was about 25 minutes in the afternoon. A few things caused the 3 star review. For this style of chicken, I don't recommend taking it to go. By the time I came back home with the 20 minutes drive, the chicken wings were soggy. In addition, I'm not sure why I taste hints of cumin, peppercorn, and mala in my chicken. These are Chinese flavors that I dislike. Not sure if there was some type of cross contamination. I will give it another try at a later date. read more

This is NOT fast food. It looks like a fast food joint but it's actually all made to order so be prepared to sit and chill while they fry up your delicious chicken. Its like In N Out. Made fresh with a wait that is worth it. I got the drumstick meal with Garlic shoyu, it was lightly drizzled so that the chicken was still crispy. The drum stick was so juicy that you could see the juices dripping after I bit into it! Yummm. I will definitely be back! read more

Food - Sadly not the best quality chicken meat (had the old chew to it) and the spice is underwhelming. We had high hopes but there are tastier fried chicken places around. For those who suffer from food sensitivity, allergies, especially a sensitivity to MSG you'll want to pass on this altogether. Tasty fries upon eating for sure but again loaded with grease (takeout boxes completely oily at the base) and all in all, food that left us swollen and not feeling great afterwards. Worse than the ramen bloat. Service - Service was great, everyone was ate rice-we came during the grand opening when they had a dressed up chicken character outside. Amazing service greeted me right when I made it into the restaurant and steady service as well. Plus the portions are really big compared to other restaurants serving chicken meals. Wasn't busy when I came in but I bet it'll be busy when lunch time comes around! Definitely give this place a shot if you're not from around either it's a hole in the wall since it's across fogo de chao as well. Every penny was worth! read more

One of the best places I've eaten at in the US. I drove there for more than an hour several times just to get back to the delicious chicken. The prices are very reasonable and the atmosphere was great as well. Service was incredible, in fact, the kindness of the place was illuminating. A must go in California. Service was great, and it felt like a chicken place. However, this is the worst quality chicken I have ever tried to eat. Reminded me of the street vendors in Tijuana. Grisly, fatty, tendons, and the east end of a west bound chicken. Wow, I couldn't keep chocking it down. Sorry, it got two stars because of the nice guys working there. Great value for money, especially in Pasadena. Street parking was free on the holiday. I got the spicy fried chicken sandwich for just under $10, it was a huge piece of meat (thigh? Looked like dark meat which I prefer) that was nice and juicy on the inside. It's just mildly spicy but the flavor was unique, need to ask what the seasoning was because it was pretty delicious and I didn't add any of the sauces. They fry your chicken to order so there is a little wait, you can munch on some pickled daikon while waiting. Restaurant was clean. Just a couple areas for improvement: the chicken was crispy but a little oily, the bread was very soft and by the end of eating gets completely flattened when held. I also got the spam and tamago musubi, I haven't eaten one in a long time so I'm not really sure how much rice is supposed to be in one but I would have preferred less rice. read more

Stopped by Tokyo Chick after working at the nearby WeWork, and it did not disappoint! The renovated space has a modern vibe, thanks to the chalkboard art on the walls. Seating is plentiful, so no issues finding a spot to sit. We used the self-service kiosk for ordering, which was straightforward and easy to navigate. Both of us opted for bentos--one boneless fried chicken with spicy sauce and one teriyaki chicken. The food was solid and well-balanced, featuring steamed rice, protein, radishes, steamed veggies, and a seasoned boiled egg. I appreciated the branded sleeve and reusable carryout bag that our meals came in--a nice touch that elevates the fast-casual experience. However, do note that the wait time was a bit longer than expected, clocking in at about 20 minutes for our two bentos. If you're on a tight schedule, I'd recommend ordering ahead. Tokyo Chicken is a hidden gem! The food is absolutely incredible, with crispy, flavorful chicken that's cooked to perfection. I've been wanting to try this place for the longest time and I finally got to try it. My mom and I ordered the Chicken Katsu and Fried Boneless Chicken Bento Boxes. The chicken is very crispy and very tasty and fresh. The Chicken Katsu was also very delicious. I would definitely come back again and try more food. The service was also really good and pretty quick. The wait wasn't that long either. Also, the ambiance of the place was really pretty. I especially like the chalk art. It's really cute. read more

The ambiance of this place, is so great!!! They are clean, have great customer service, and fun music. The food is amazing. I do not exaggerate when I say this is authentic food. Their sauces and some of the drinks they make are also homemade, so no processed stuff. You can also win prizes in there!! The food is alright, but it's the service I'm upset with. It took about 40 minutes to get 6 boneless chicken and some fries. They started putting the receipts out of order and pushed ours further back. Will not be returning and will tell friends to steer clear. read more

There's street parking, some parking in the back, or if you really need to you can park across the street and walk over. It's pretty busy, even on a weekday at an off hour (between the lunch and dinner rushes). Walking in, despite having 2 floor cooling units, it was SUPER hot and humid. But people were still dining in, so I'm sure they have loyal customers or when the food hankering is that bad, the heat doesn't matter. Most of the food was moved to the back to survive the heat and it seemed like only one person was working at the time, so I had to ring the bell to summon them. Lady was curt, but clear in her explanations of the menu and how long it would take the food to be ready. I got some veggie samosas, but she also recommended that they come with something. I'm not entirely sure what it was, but I agreed since, sure why not. At the end of the day, I couldn't parse through the menu to really get an idea of what it was. Everything was VERY spicy or had a really sour (flavor profile, not that it went bad) taste to it. I enjoy spicy food, but it meant I couldn't really share with my family which sucked. Not that diverse of a flavor profile that I've had at other Indian restaurants before, so that was a bit disappointing. The fried exterior of the samosa was pretty good. The strange mix that came with it was a mix of spicy, sour, and really dry. The sauce that we got was a super tart vinegar kind of grape tasting sauce? Didn't really go great with anything in the order. Maybe what I ordered wasn't the right thing, but my experience was lukewarm at best.

Why you should patronize this place: locally owned, family run, great food, and hella cheap. The owner (I think he's the owner) was so friendly and knew the orders of many of the locals who came in while I was eating. The front person was great as well. I ordered the 1/4 dark with fries and it was great. Chicken was juicy and the shoestring fries crisped up just right. This is on my go-to list and it should be on yours.
