It was a weekday evening. Two kitchen staff and one server that does to go packaging as well. The order is placed by a kiosk in the front. It was simple and easy to navigate. On the screen it says "food takes 25-30min" I waited 50 min... There were at least 4 people waiting for their orders. Whenever one of us tried to talk to the server and as they were approaching, I could tell she was going to somewhere else like to the kitchen and intentionally tried not to give the eye contact with customers. The customer is next to you how can you not look at them...lol After almost an hour I got my food only to find that pickled radish was spoiled. Luckily I added an extra so it saved me. When I took out the container it was already full of gas and about to explode. When I opened it, smelled horrible like raw food left in the garbage disposal for weeks. (You can see how cloudy the juice is from the picture) Over all, I understand that this location has the worst review among other bb.q chicken in SGV, I'd choose other place next time. The food at bb.q Pasadena is pretty consistent and if you're looking for that typical flavor of Korean fried chicken, you will get that here. I only ever order takeout from this location and there's definitely things that could be improved. The location is on busy Colorado so parking is a nightmare. The workers here have absolutely no sense of urgency. Often I've been the only customer picking up and the speed of service could only be described as "meandering" to find and hand me my order. As previously mentioned, there's no issue with the food. It's juicy and flavorful. But there's inconsistencies like sometimes I get the side radish and utensils but other times not at all. The attitude of the workers you interact with are that of someone who has absolutely no pride in their work and are simply tolerating customers. It would go a long way to improve this location if workers were trained to do everything as efficiently and quickly as possible. The cost is also astronomically high for chicken. A whole chicken is $31 before any taxes or fees. It's not competitive with other Korean fried chicken places and you have to imagine part of the cost is due to the location. I would be sad if this branch closed, since it is closest to where I live, but it wouldn't be a shock that it did close. There's a lot of low hanging easy changes that could be made. Better training from management, more local deals, and focusing on customer service. read more

Ah, bb.q chicken--where my love affair with crispy, juicy perfection began years ago in Alhambra. Naturally, on this fine New Year's Day, when our usual go-to spot was closed, we thought, "Why not give this location a shot?" Spoiler alert: It was a plot twist we didn't need. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a waitress clearly multitasking her way through a slow day. She brought water, plates, and utensils like a seasoned pro, though the vibe inside was... interesting. Think high ceilings, dim lighting, and a healthy dose of "we're trying to be a bar" with soju and happy hour deals apparently running 24/7. Now, the main act--the food. I dove into the kimchi fried rice, which turned out to be more "kimchi-soaked rice." It was wet, mushy, and over-sauced, with the kimchi itself reduced to a sad, squishy shadow of its former crunchy glory. Disappointing, to say the least. The chicken? Let's just say the "whole golden chicken" had me questioning the anatomy of their supplier. Creative cuts, perhaps? As for the spicy wings, they were fine but nowhere near the greatness I fell in love with back in Alhambra. Oh, and the radishes? Probably my favorite KFC (Korean Fried Chicken) chain. This is a good location in Old Town Pasadena. Inside is a modern, slightly narrow space. Decent amount of seating. A few TVs on the wall playing Korean music videos. Not sure if they play sports on the TVs though. The chicken wings are bomb! Can't go wrong with any flavor in my opinion. My favs are the soy garlic and spicy golden original. Also just had the Caribbean spice and I liked it. Their sides are good too. Love the kimchi fried rice. Limited selection of beer and soju if you want to drink too. Service was good. Friendly staff. Parking in this area is kinda tough. This location is the best I've visited out of the Cerritos, Koreatown, & Northridge location. Host greets you & you're able to pick any tables available. Place order with our waitress then kept busy watching one of the 3 TVs. Food was served and it was piping hot! Delicious and crunchy chicken the way it should be. Biting into it was just mouth watering! This place is kept clean, in order, & a place you'd like to return with family or friends. I know I definitely will! Parking however is a different story. While difficult, there are parking places to park and pay. Came to watch a football game at the Rose Bowl and didn't realize we'd be grabbing food in downtown. I'm surprised that this place doesn't have a higher rating -- we have ordered it for delivery a number of times and it is consistently high quality, with our favorites being the honey garlic and gangjeong. For my 1st time eating at bb.q chicken, I gave it a 4 Star review. The place was clean, and I loved the ambiance (music). My girlfriend really appreciated how organized they were. For example, on their counter, they had everything you could possibly need for when you're dinning in and to go. The chicken was juicy on the inside, crispy on the outside and was very flavorful. The only negative, was our server, who seemed to be a little annoyed when we first arrived, but towards the end of our meal, he seemed to lighten up. Came here around 10pm after a football game and it really hit! This location was quite roomy and fancier than other locations I've been to, so it was nice to sit down, look at a menu, and take our time here. It took a bit for the chicken to come out but it was warm and fresh! Service was nice as well. My friends and I got the honey garlic chicken and rose tteokbokki, and both were so satisfying, savory, and yummy. Stumbled upon this spot while trying to find something to eat in Old Town. Location is great and the restaurant itself was pretty spacious. Service was quick and we appreciated that. My one big gripe was we were only given 2 small pieces of thin square napkins. Thin like what bartenders would give you for your drink. I honestly don't know who would give these type of napkins when you're eating sticky wings? When we asked for more napkin we were given a couple more in which we had to use sparingly. My suggestion would be to leave thicker napkins at the table so we don't have to constantly ask for them. I think BBQ chicken is really good. I'm not much into sauces, but the original is great just the way it is. Super crispy and chicken is always fresh. I love the pickling they include with the order. I ordered the honey garlic boneless chicken (8 pieces - $17.00) with a mala ddeok-bokki ($17.00). The boneless wings were juicy, flavorful (and not overpowering), and just enough crunch to satisfy my cravings. The mala ddeok-bokki had rice cake, fish cake, and some vegetable deliciously saturated in their red-chili sauce. I started out strong with this dish but admittedly, had to take a break here and there because the spice level got pretty intense. In other words, if you're into spicy food, this is definitely the dish to get; however, if your go-to spice level is usually mild or none, this may be one that you may want to share with a group. In all fairness the chicken was fresh and full of flavor would I recommend this place never!!! Bbq is one of my favorite Korean fried chicken chains (specifically for their soy garlic wings). This was the second time I've ordered from this location. 16 wings were about $35 ($40 with tip). Bbq has always been one of the more expensive kfc spots so I go there when I want to treat myself since they're usually reliably good. Service was fine but the chicken wings were some of the worst I've ever had. I ordered takeout so I didn't know until I got home, but the wings were SO small (see picture). Some wings were shorter than my finger and barely wider, literally all skin and bone. Because there was so little meat, the wings were dry and too salty. Bbq had been my go-to for years but I literally don't want to order here anymore at least not at this location. I honestly find it really odd that they don't allow people who order take-out to eat it inside their establishment.
